A Friday Night Like This

Exactly Where I Want To Be

-next Tuesday-

I walked into the bar and headed over to where I saw a familiar blonde sitting. Three other girls were with her, a ginger and two brunettes.

'Hello ladies!' I exclaimed in a high-pitch, overly gay voice.

'Kellin,' Evie said, twirling in her seat. She had her phone in her hands, and she was playing with it. She took in my casual attire, an Anthem shirt and capris, and introduced me to the girls beside her.

'This is Lucy,' she said, gesturing to the brunette wearing a matching blue tank top and mid-thigh skirt,

'Roxanne,' she pointed to the other brunette, who was wearing a floral dress and brown jacket,

'And Ginger.' She finished, pointing at Ginger, who was wearing a sheer light blue button down and brown jeans. I leaned over and gave her a kiss, before turning and smiling at the three girls. My gaze landed on the redhead.

'Ginger?' I questioned.

'That's my name, get your own.' She said, sipping her drink, her eyes twinkling in the dim light. 'And yes, that is my birth name. My parents had it planned out before I was born.' She explained.

'That's... ironic.' I said, giving her a half-smile.

'So this is the gay guy, huh? He doesn't sound gay.' Roxanne said, swivelling in her own chair. 'He only sounded gay when he first came over here.' Evie smiled at me, and answered before I could think of a quick comeback.

'He definitely plays for the other team, you should hear his singing voice.' At that moment, my phone rang and the acoustic version of If I'm James Dean, You're Audrey Hepburn came blasting out of my pocket.

'Case in point.' Evie finished. Her phone had disappeared. I got my phone out and looked at the caller I.D.

'Very good, Evie. Change the ringtone but not the caller I.D.?' I smirked, sitting down beside her. Lucy leaned over.

'What do you want to drink? My family owns this place, so drinks are on the house.' She said, her hand making a sweeping motion across the back wall where the different types of drinks were lined up.

'Just a coke. I want to stay sober since Vic's coming home tomorrow.' My drink was handed to me almost instantly, and Lucy declared that we were going to a table. We got one at the back, where there weren't many people. Evie and I sat next to each other on one booth, with Lucy and Roxanne taking up the one opposite us. Ginger grabbed a chair and sat at the end.

What I felt next was indescribable. All three girls rounded on me, while Evie leaned back against the wall and smirked at me, her eyes seemingly saying "You asked for it". They stared at me, and leaned forward and all started takling at once.

'So, who's Vic?'

'Is he cute?'

'You dating?'

'Spill!'

'Hold up!' I yelled over the clamour of voices. I threw my hands up, and Evie laughed. I shot her a glare, before turning to the rest of the group.

'Yes, we are "dating" as you so nicely put it. Vic is my boyfriend of... I think six months now?' All girls sighed. 'We used to be married, but... we had... complications.' Ginger's eyes grew wide.

'Spill!' She said, before the other's shushed her.

'Vic is cute. Here,' I retrieved my phone and handed them it. The lock screen was a picture of Vic and I. The three girls passed it between them.

'He's so cute! Too bad my boyfriend isn't like yours.' Lucy said, handing back my phone.

'Boyfriend? Your turn to spill, girl.'

The conversation wore on, Lucy and Ginger sharing with me their current romances. Roxanne was still single, but had her eye on a special someone.

'Evie, what about you?' I asked, turning to the oddly reserved girl. In the time I've known her, she's never talked about having any relationships, yet has been all over mine.

'Oh... um.' She said, blushing. Lucy, Roxanne and Ginger shared a look.

'Don't bother asking her.' Roxanne said, leaning back in her seat.

'Yeah, we don't know anything either!' Lucy added.

'Drinks?' Ginger asked standing up and starting to head over to the bar, taking our empty glasses with her. We raised our eyes at her and she laughed.

'Alright, alright! Stupid question!' Lucy and Roxanne excused themselves to go to the bathroom and I turned to Evie.

'So, no relationships?' I asked, arching an eyebrow. Evie turned her face away and cast her eyes down towards the table.

'Uh... no...' She mumbled. I caught her chin and turned her head to face me.

'You can tell me, Ana.' I looked into her eyes.

'I... I can't.' She replied. In her eyes, I saw that she did love. At this moment, memories and thoughts were racing through her mind of that one person.

'Evie-'

'Hey, Kellin. Here you go.' Ginger announced, sliding my drink in front of me.

'Eeeee-v-iiiiieeee!' Ginger sang, passing Evie her drink, before placing down Lucy's and Roxanne's in their designated spots.

'And for Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum when they get back. So, what were you talking about?' She asked.

I blinked. I had no idea of the answer. 'I mean, it looks pretty intense.'

'Oh, no! Staring contest.' Evie replied smoothly, yanking her chin out of my grasp. She looked me right in the eyes, silently telling me to go along. 'Right, Kellin?'

'Yeah. She kept on cheating by looking away though.' I laughed and took a sip of my drink to give myself a chance to avert my gaze from the fiery blonde. Ginger sat down and looked between us. I swallowed some more of my drink.

'So, what's happening next girl's and gay's night?' Ginger said, smiling. I looked over at Evie, who flinched.

'"Gay's" night? This is a one time only thing. Just because I couldn't have dinner with Evie on Friday.' I replied.

'No way! You have to come with us more often. And next week, I think you should help Ginge and Di get the guys.' Roxanne said, sliding down the booth.

'No way. If I'm going to look at men, it's because I want them.' I said, smirking.

'Have you ever been with a girl?' Lucy asked, swishing her drink around her cup.

I thought for a moment. 'Yeah. Back in high school. Just the one though, and no, she didn't turn me gay.' The girls laughed, all nodding at each other. 'Her name was Katelynn, and she was my best friend. We haven't spoken in ages though.'

'You're getting off track, Kells.' Ginger piped up.

'Sorry. Anyway, it was just sort of a one week thing. Started Monday morning ended Friday morning. We held hands all week and I finally piled up enough courage and kissed her on the Thursday. It just didn't feel right, you know?'

'Totally. I understand where you're coming from. I kissed a girl as a dare once and no way! Not natural at all.' Roxanne joked. 'In fact, I think it was that girl there.' She pointed to Evie.

EVie looked at the ceiling. 'Yeah, eighth grade, wasn't it? You were my first kiss.' She said, looking over at her friend to confirm.

'Yeah. I was the one who dared you guys too!' Lucy joined in. They reminisced about the past, and I listened eagerly. Turns out that Evie and Roxanne were both each other'a first kiss and were the only ones of the group to have kissed someone of the same sex. In high school, Lucy was the notorious heartbreaker and Ginger had only been with one guy and that had only lasted a month.

'Yeah, he told me he loved me the night before he broke up with me! I was like, what the hell? But I guess it was for the best. He was sleeping with one if my old best friends.' Ginger concluded.

'Damn girl, that's harsh.' I said, taking a sip of my drink.

Evie yawned from next to me. 'I've gotta go, guys. I have the early shift tomorrow to make up some more time.' I moved out of the booth to give her room to get out.

'That's probably a good idea.' Lucy said. We all got up to leave, me hugging the girls and offering to give Evie a ride home. She declined, but then staggered a few steps. There was no way she was getting home by herself.

Lucy and Ginger started walking home and Roxanne ended up in the car with us. I dropped Roxanne off first and the started driving to Evie's.

'Lucky you stayed sober.' Evie said, closing her eyes and leaning her head back on the headrest.

'I guess.' I replied, merging into the left lane. 'Are you going to tell me about "the one"?' I asked, turning off the radio.

'Why do you keep bugging me about it?'

'You're all over my relationship. I'm just returning the favour.'

Evie shook her head.

'No way.'

'You've never told anyone. Don't you want to share? And I won't judge you. I like men, after all.'

Evie took a deep breath. 'Well... I like women. I've never told anyone because I had a huge crush on Roxanne after that dare. Those feelings have obviously passed, but I just don't like guys.'

'Well then, let's go girl hunting.' I said, smiling. Evie looked surprised at my acceptance of her orientation.

'I told you, I'm in no place to judge.' I reminded her gently.

'I'm glad you told me, but I think it might be good if the girls knew too. You know?' Evie nodded.

'I have another confession. I don't actually do know if I'm lesbian or just bisexual. I've never kissed a guy either. So I'm basing this off one kiss that was years ago.' I pulled into her driveway.

-Evie's POV-

I looked over at Kellin, my mouth wide open.

'What?' I said.

'I said, how about we find out?' He repeated himself.

'What do you mean?' Kellin looked at me like I was stupid.

'You're a girl, I'm a boy... Two plus two equals gay guy and a possibly bi girl.' He said, half smiling.

'Nope. You have a boyfriend.' I said. Kellin locked the car doors.

'Well, it won't mean anything to me.' He said simply. I stared at him. I couldn't. Could I?

Thanks. I won't upload it right now because I've been writing the second chapter for about a week now and it's nowhere near finished!
@raven
Haha, just kill all the characters! If you want to read a story in which some characters may die, may I suggest my other story, Kiss Me Through the Window and it's sequel The Taste Of Touching Glass? *shameless advertising*
That is so adorable! I love it! This story was great and I loved the plot progression, like it didn't move to fast or slow. I'm excited for the sequel <3
