A Friday Night Like This

We're Young And In Love, Heart Attacks Waiting To Happen

'Hello, this is JB Hi-Fi, Kellin speaking. How may I help you?' I said into my workplace's phone reciever. I tried to sound cheerful, but it was the end of a long week of work and I couldn't wait for the weekend. I didn't have to work over the weekend because there was more than enough teenagers who had part time jobs here, and not enough "adults" to work during the day. I had proved to be very useful and was going to be upgraded to full-time next week.

'Yes, I called yesterday about a CD I ordered. I was wondering if it had come in.' The person on the other line side. It had been a month since I had gotten the job, and Vic was currently on tour. I missed him so much, even though we called each other every night. Because today was Friday, it was our "movie night". We hooked up Skype and watched a movie from our television at home. It was my turn to choose the movie, and I had gotten 500 Days Of Summer, a movie that Alan swore black and blue was amazing. Then again, Zooey Deschanel starred in it, so it had already been subject to a very biased opinion.

'What was the name of the CD?' I asked, opening up the search catalogue on the computer. They rattled off the name, which I then entered into the search bar. Finding no such CD in the shipping category, I relayed this. Consequently, I recieved an earful about how our website said "overnight shipping". I sighed and placed the phone down, attending to a few more customers, accepting their payment for various CD's and DVD's. I picked back up the phone to catch the last sentence,

'My purchase better be in store tomorrow or I'm taking this to your manager, young man!' I was unable to make a confirmative noise before the customer hung up. I glanced at the clock, and my heart lifted slightly. Only half an hour to go. I picked up the intercom, easily my favourite thing to do at work, and spoke into it,

'JB Hi-Fi will be closing in half an hour.' I announced to the customers, many of whom were standing near the register. Their heads swivelled, and they started at me, and I arched an eyebrow.

'I have a home too, guys.' They all turned away, most leaving the store. Others made final decisions for purchases and came up to the register.

'Good job, Bostwick. Scare all the customers away.' A snide voice said. I turned around and looked over at Evie. I smirked and bowed.

'Less work for us, right?'

'Go away, before you scare more.' I walked away to the shelves, and started arranging the products in a more organized manner, helping a few customers along the way.

Closing time finally came, and I pulled down the door. Evie came up to me, tucking a stray piece of hair behind her ear.

'Care to go out for dinner?' She asked, sliding the lock into place. It made a satisfying clanking sound as the bolts ground into place. She let go of it, and it fell, gravity taking hold before it was forcefully stopped by the door it was holding shut. Evie slipped the key into her pocket, and we set off for the main office.

'I can't, I have my movie date with Vic, remember?' I said, opening a door marked "Staff Only". We walked down the adjoining corridor, Evie saying,

'That's right. How is Vic?'

'He's good. Well, actually he's over the moon right now, since he's touring. But he'll be back soon for a few weeks, before he's off again.' Evie opened the door to the main office and hung the keys on their hook. She shut the door with a cheery wave at another worker across the room, and we continued on our way.

'What movie are you watching tonight?'

'"500 Days of Summer". A very good friend of ours with a highly biased opinion of Zooey Deschanel recommended it.' I laughed, Evie joining in.

'Maybe we can go out next week. You could crash girl's night.' Evie winked at me, sliding her hand into mine. Over the few weeks of knowing each other, a close friendship had sprung up. It was like we had known each other for years rather than days.

'Crash girl's night? Is that what you think I am? A girl?' I said, opening the door for her and walking through it. Evie chuckled.

'Obviously.' I rolled my eyes at her.

'Sure, I'm up for girl's night. See you then.' I walked to my car and drove home, stopping by Noodleland and grabbing a bite to eat. It was already five thirty, and our movie was due to start at six.

It may be weird to have a starting time for a date that took place in your own home, but Vic was exhausted by the end of tours. He just wanted to come home and be back on the "normal" time zone. He needed his sleep so that he could continue to be bright and energetic for the kids.

I pulled into my driveway with fifteen minutes to spare. I changed clothes quickly and brushed my hair before starting up my laptop and booting up Skype. I video called Vic and checked to see that my microphone was working. Vic's face popped up on my screen and I smiled.

'Hey honey!' I said cheerfully, blowing him a kiss.

'Hi Kellin!' He said back. I saw Jaime's head infiltrate my view of Vic, his hand coming up next to him, waving furiously.

'Hey Kells!' He shouted at me. I smiled back at him.

'Hey Hime.' He disappeared suddenly, just a blur across the screen. It paused for a minute and I saw Vic's arms outstretched. He had pushed him off.

'What are you having for dinner?' I asked, switching on the TV and putting the DVD in the player. I switched it on as Vic grabbed his dinner.

'Noodleland. You?' He asked.

'Same.' Vic looked up from stirring his noodles with a fork.

'Really?' I nodded and showed him my food. My lips ached to kiss him as he said,

'Two great minds think alike.'

'Start the movie?' I asked, picking up the remote and turning my laptop towards the TV.

'Definitely!' I heard him say.

I watched the movie, wishing that he was next to me, not just an image on a screen, but in a physical form.

Title cred: Fuck - Bring Me The Horizon

This was more of a filler... Sorry!

Thanks. I won't upload it right now because I've been writing the second chapter for about a week now and it's nowhere near finished!

Haha, just kill all the characters! If you want to read a story in which some characters may die, may I suggest my other story, Kiss Me Through the Window and it's sequel The Taste Of Touching Glass? *shameless advertising*
That is so adorable! I love it! This story was great and I loved the plot progression, like it didn't move to fast or slow. I'm excited for the sequel <3
