The Taste of Touching Glass

Another Tragic Case

~Mike's POV~

I walked into Tony's old hospital room. The chairs were still set up from where I had slept on them last night, and there was a lone note laying on the pillow. Stacey was making the bed and, hearing me walk into the room, turned around and passed it to me.

'Tony forgot this.' She said, 'And I thought I'd never see you again. Not that I'm complaining.' A smile twitched at her lips.

I ignored her and took the note. It was song lyrics. But if your lightning lips aren't mine, then I don't know... It was a line from Yeah Boy and Doll Face, the very first song Tony learnt to play when he joined the band. He hadn't finished the second part though. It was finish with "the awkward stranger to my right". I frowned, puzzled. I put it in my pocket.

'So what's your reason for being here?' Stacey asked, fluffing up a pillow.

'It's about Tony. He doesn't remember.' I said simply. Stacey led me over to the chairs and sat down with me.

'Okay Mike, as you know, Tony hit his head really hard.' I nodded, the bruise was just fading on his temple. 'We didn't let on how bad it was because even we didn't know. He suffered from a little amnesia, but we just passed that off as he knocked himself out and wasn't conscious for it anyway. But now that you're here telling me this, it's obviously more serious. What can't he remember?' She asked.

I explained and she nodded, thinking hard.

'I told you he may not be able to remember some things, yes?' I nodded.

'You said they would be small things though.'

'That I did. But by Tony forgetting such recent events and things he has done numerous times is a bit worrying. Follow me.' Stacey said, her eyebrows knitting together. She stalks out of the room and down the hall. We take a few turns and we enter a room marked with STAFF ONLY. I pause, and she yanks me inside, muttering under her breath. Inside, there's what seems to be a break room. There's a few couches and desks, with a makeshift kitchen to the left. On the couch is another familiar face, Ella.

'Hello eye candy.' She says, winking. I glare at her and she rolls her eyes. 'What's he doing here, Stace?' She asks the blonde next to me. [A/N I probably should have told you this earlier, but I just realised I made a mistake. "Katie" from previous chapters had been changed to "Stacey" sorry for the confusion if there was any]

'It's about Tony.' Stacey starts explaining the situation to Ella, while a few other nurses listen in.

'It sounds like it's a reverse memory loss.' Ella says. 'Instead of forgetting everything when he hit his head, the memories are slowly fading.' My jaw drops.

'What?!' I screech. 'That can't happen! He-he might forget me!' I yell at the nurses, scared out of my wits. Two unfamiliar nurses come up and start trying to calm me.

'Hey, shh, it'll be okay honey.' One says, the other leading me to the couch.

'Move, Fred.' A nurse says and "Fred" gets up off the couch from his sleep, shooting me a glare, before laying down behind the couch. 'Poor thing, only gets a few hours of sleep a day.'

While I was having my outburst, the two nurses were discussing things.

'What do you think could have caused it?' Ella says.

'I don't know. Amnesia is a funny thing. Almost anything can trigger it.' They noticed I was listening and stopped talking.

'Mike, I think it would be best for you to go home and bring Tony in on Monday. Spend tomorrow with him and see if he forgets anything else.' Stacey said. Fred woke up and offered to show me out. As I followed him down the hallways, he gave me a piece of advice.

'Now, from what I've heard, you and this Tony love each other very deeply. Just so you know, even if he does forget you, don't give up on him. Deep inside, he'll still love you, he just won't know why.' I nodded, but I hoped it wouldn't come to that.
