The Taste of Touching Glass

I Miss My Breath, There's No More Left

~Mike's POV~

I woke up, my entire body sore. Stretching and yawning, I proceeded to stand up and give Tony a morning hug. The floor was all soft and pliable. I stood up, testing it out. Maybe I was just dizzy. I struggled to stay upright and promptly fell down, right on top of Jaime. Jaime had been woken up by my total lack of common sense. We were nose to nose and Jaime was struggling to keep from yelling out. Vic, who had heard my fall, saw us like that and, still half-asleep, said

'Guys, if you're gonna cheat on me and Tone, could you do it a bit quieter?' He turned back and started snoring. I stared at him in confusion, when Jaime pushed me off and onto Vic. As I tumbled over him, he complained, waking up Tony.

'Guys?' Tony said, rubbing his eyes. He sat up much quicker than he did two weeks ago and saw us all on the floor. 'What happened? And when did you two get here?' He asked, looking at Vic and Jaime.

'Tony, hate to break it to you, but Mikey's cheating on you with Himey.' Vic said, his words half-muffled because of the blanket that was pulled up around his shoulders.

'I think we should tell them we've had a secret relationship for weeks. What about you?' Tony said, smiling at me. Vic put his thumb up at him and tried to go back to sleep. I stood up, accidentally squishing Vic's finger, and walked over to Tony, hopping into his bed. Jaime had moved closer to Vic and was now embracing him, pulling Vic's body against his own. Vic snuggled deeper into Jaime's arms and smiled.

I did the same to Tony, planting kisses along his neck and cheek. I could feel the heat rise to Tony's face against my lips.

'You're blushing. That's cute.' I whispered in his ear, giving him another kiss on the cheek. It had gotten a few degrees hotter.

'Nah, you're the cutie.' He disagreed, squirming in my grasp so that we were facing each other. Tony placed a leg between and on top of mine so that we could be closer together. He gave me a kiss and looked at the clock on the bedside table.

'Mike, it's four am. Good night.' he said, ducking his head and placing it on my chest. I moved around so that he would be comfortable and attempted to place a pillow on my chest so that he would be more comfortable. He moved it away, saying,

'No. I like to listen to you heartbeat.' He made noises to indicate how fast my heart was going.

'Ok then. Good night babe.' I said, kissing the top of his head.

'Your heartbeat sped up.' He stated. It was true. I had had a small rush of happiness when I called him 'babe' and kissed his head. He was still able to make me feel like I was filled with electricity, and I loved it.

'Shut up.' I murmured, falling asleep. The last thing I heard was a small giggle from Tony.

I heard waves. That was odd. Wasn't I in the hospital? I look around and see the crystal-clear ocean, sparkling in the sun. There's a few fish darting up along the waves. The sand beneath my bare toes is free of rubbish and seaweed. To my right, there's a few rockpools. I wander over to them and peek in. A pink starfish sits in one, waving its arms absentmindedly. There's a few colourful fish swimming in circles and a crab in another. In the final one, is a tiny baby turtle. How have the seagulls not gotten to it by now? I reach for the stranded creature, when another tattooed hand catches mine. I look up and see brown eyes gazing back at my own. A dermal piercing winks at me in the sunlight.

'He'll be fine. Won'tcha little guy?' Tony says, patting the turtle's shell. 'See?' Tony says as a wave rolls up and takes the little turtle with it. 'Tides coming in.' He states. I realise that I'm ankle-deep in water. I stand up and start to take walk away, but Tony's grip on my hand keeps me standing next to him. He pulls me to the water, and dives in. I follow more cautiously. Tony surfaces, and grins at me.

'Come on!' he shouts, going back underneath the waves. By this time, I'm chest-deep in water, and a wave rolls over the top of me. The water is warm, not at all cold. I'm unable to climb to the surface though, and I struggle to breathe. Tony swims over and grabs my hand.

'Come on.' I start breathing. It's impossible. I'm underwater! But I follow Tony. He's spotted the little turtle and has started kicking after it, leaving a tiny trail of bubbles in his wake. I try to catch up, but I'm too slow. I watch Tony play with the turtle. It's so cute, watching both Turtle's.

We return to dry land, and we bone dry as soon as we step out of the water. Tony doesn't think this is abnormal, and starts running towards a picnic blanket. It's red and white check, with a woven basket on top. There's two candles burning brightly and the sunset's dipping below the horizon. How cliché. We sit down and Tony starts unloading the basket. Wine and spaghetti bolognese. What the hell? It's hot though, and only one plate. We share the meal, and both pick up the same string of spaghetti. All of a sudden, it seems like Lady and the Tramp, human version. We kiss and Tony pulls back.

'Wake up.' He says, smiling, going in for another kiss.

'Wait, what?' I say, holding him off.

'Wake up. Wake up, Mikey.'

I'm woken by Tony, yelling at me. He's left the bed and the clock reads ten.

'Morning.' I grumble, stretching.

'Guess what?!' He yells, over-excited.
