The Taste of Touching Glass

The Doctor's Dancing in, While the Ambulances Sing

~Mike's POV~

My parents run into the room, and see Tony on the television. Their gaze turns to me and I lock eyes with my mum. I'm aware of my mouth moving, but I'm not sure what I say. My mum comes over and grabs my hand. She searches my pockets for my mobile and retrieves it. It's been ringing for the past few seconds and on screen, Tony's phone has disappeared from it's place on the passenger seat. My mother's noted this and is talking furiously into the phone. About a minute later - where the television has changed back to the soccer game - my mum yanks my dad and I to the car. The ride passes as a blur. My dad's buckled me in and I feel like a small child, incapable of doing anything by myself.

~Tony's POV~

Darkness.

Flashing lights.

Murmuring voices.

A loud, high pitched siren.

My head rolls to the side of its own accord and I groan.

'Sir,' a female voice says, 'please stay still. You have several injuries, including the head and must not move.' A hand holds me down as I struggle to get up. My eyelids are sticky, but I force them open. They bash back shut again, and I don't bother to try and open them again. I'll just walk around with them shut for a while. No big deal.

'I'm fine.' I say, trying to get up. Though, in my current state, it probably came out more as 'Ifff ffinnn'

'Sir! I said not to move!' The female voice says again, pushing me more forcefully now.

'Paramedic! We need a stretcher!' A different voice calls. I'm jostled around and placed onto it.

'I'm fine!' I say again, accompanied by another try to get up.

'He's running on adrenaline.' The female says, and I'm soon strapped to the stretcher.

'Hey!' I protest. My stretcher is dragged to the ambulance and I'm rolled inside. The doors are closing, but I hear a voice yell out, 'Tony!'

The voice is familiar, and soon a pounding begins on the doors.

'Let me in!' The voice yells, and a few more voices are registered. They seem to be trying to calm him down.

'That's my boyfriend in there!' Something suddenly clicks. It's Mike! I kick up a fuss of my own and in a matter of seconds Mike is sitting beside me in the ambulance, holding my hand and murmuring words of comfort.

~Mike's POV~

I see Tony being wheeled onto the ambulance, and I start a dead sprint towards him. I push past officials and cameramen turn their sights on me, the fully grown tattoed man running like a maniac down the street. My mother and father's voices are yelling at me from the car, but I ignore them.

'Tony!' I cry, watching them close the doors.

I slam up against the vehicle and start bashing at it. Tears are streaming down my face and I let them fall.

'Let me in!' I yell frantically. Can Tony hear me? Is he still alive? I think, worrying myself further. A few paramedics walk up to me.

'Sir, please step away from the ambulance. That young man needs to get to hospital A.S.A.P.'

'That's my boyfriend in there!' I shriek, and they tug me away before I burst a hole in the ambulance. They continue talking to me, when the entry swings open.

'Let him in.' Says yet another medic. She points to me, and her blonde hair is sticking out at all angles. 'He won't calm down.' Behind her, Tony is wiggling around, saying what I presume is my name. The men let me go and I scurry on board. The ambulance shoots off and I grasp Tony's hand. He stops struggling immediately, and I start murmuring at him.

'Shh, it's gonna be ok, Tone. Just hang in there.' I sniff and more tears fall down my cheeks. The young medic hands me a tissue and I blow my nose. She hands me a few more and I wipe away the tears with my free hand.

'Thanks.' I say, then run my fingers down Tony's face. He's going to be okay, Mikey.
