The Taste of Touching Glass

There Ain't A Thing That You Can Do That's Gonna Ruin My Night

~Tony's POV~

*A few days later*

I was finally allowed out of the hospital. Mike hadn't stayed with me the whole time, but that was only because he was dragged out of my room to see if I would forget him. I didn't, and it seemed that I only had temporary major amnesia, or something along those general lines. Mike's hand was firmly in my grasp, and we got into his car.

'Where to?' He asked, starting the engine.

'My house, maybe? I have heaps of unpacking to do.' I mentally cringed at the thought of the mess that I had left behind. There were still boxes piled high with stuff that I had to sort through. Mike pulled into my driveway a few minutes later and cut the engine. He gave me my keys back and gave me a swift kiss on the lips.

'I'll be back in a few.' He said, his eyes twinkling.

'Okay. But hurry.' I said, closing the door and watching him rev the engine and take off again. I walked into my flat, looking around at the mess. It was only a small area, but I sure did have a lot of stuff. Most of my furniture had been constructed, but the few pieces that hadn't been were in the living room. There were labelled boxes stacked everywhere. CD's on top of Kitchen Utensils next to three stacked boxes with 'Linen' written in a thick black marker. I shuffled the linen boxes to the cupboard in the hallway, managing to make them topple over in the process. Luckily, I had had enough sense to duct tape the boxes shut, otherwise there would be a collection of sheets, towels and pillow cases scattered on the floor. I started picking them up and awkwardly folding them in the small space when I heard the door open. I dropped the sheet and stuffed a few towels and pillow cases onto the shelves.

'In the hallway!' I called to Mike. I heard him start walking across the floorboards of my kitchen, when I realized something. They weren't his footsteps.

Mike had a heavy tread and had long steps, therefore it was longer until another step was heard when he was walking around. This tread was obviously made by someone a great deal shorter than Mike, because the steps sounded closer together and were also lighter. It was definitely a female too, seeing as each time there was a small 'click' noise. And yes, while Mike might be gay, it doesn't mean that he walks around in heels. The stranger walking around in my house finally reached the hallway, and I stared at the girl who was standing there.

'Why are you here?' I asked, my voice shaking. 'How did you get in?'

*Mike's POV*

I drove off and went straight to the little string of shops I knew were near here. I pulled into a parking space and hopped out of the car. There was a Chinese restaurant, a video store and a Coles and Liquorland. Perfect.

I placed an order at the take-out store and bought some wine (with the help of the very flirty assistant). I finally walked into the movie store and tried to select some movies. It couldn't be Harry Potter or Star Wars because Tony had all those movies at his house. They were the first things he unpacked after his guitars and other band-related stuff.

I waked straight past the 'Horror' and 'Family' categories and tried searching for a romantic comedy. Personally, I didn't like them. They were very predictable. But Tony liked cuddling up and talking with the movie on. He liked the endings best though. Everything turned out to be sunshine and rainbows. A month ago, we had watched A Walk to Remember, and Tony had started crying. I learnt not to rent ones that made him cry after I had gotten Titanic a few days later. It made for a very depressed Tony.

I searched through titles such as 'The Bachelor', 'Dirty Dancing', 'The Lake House' and 'Leap Year' before I gave up on the rom-coms. I rented Aladdin and The Lion King and picked up my Chinese. I got back into my car and drove to Tony's. I had a new drum beat in my head and couldn't resist tapping it out on the wheel.

As I pulled into Tony's street, I saw the very car I had never wanted to see again parked in his driveway. A flash of blonde hair peeked through the closing front door, and I saw three slim fingers wave at me. The door closed with an audible clunk, and I slammed on the brakes, running to the front door. It was locked, of course, and I dug the key out of my pocket. I stuck it in the lock and wrenched the door open.

'Tony?' I called.

'Hallway!' I heard him shout back. I ran to the hallway and saw the discarded pieces of linen and Stephanie leaning against the wall.

~Tony's POV~

I heard the front door open again, and Mike call out my name.

'Hallway!' I shouted back at him. Stephanie waited for him to round the corner. He quickly took in the situation and said,

'What are you doing here?' Stephanie ignored him and addressed me.

'You're mine Tony. Don't try and delude yourseld. You've always been mine, no matter what little straight-but-being-gay-just-for-you drummer you've got tagging along.' She smirked, and her words cut deep. While talking, she had slinked closer and was now looking up at me, her fingers trailing up my arm. She fluttered her eyelashes and went up on her tiptoes.

'Look, I love Tony and nothing can ever change that fact. Get out.' Mike seethed. His hands had curled into fists. Her comment about him being gay only because I wanted him to had hurt him. But not as much as it had hurt me. What if it was true? What if he was only acting like he loved me? He had been with the most women in our group before, and now he was completely ignoring the other sex! Stephanie rolled her eyes at Mike's declaration of love and whispered in my ear,

'He's lying.' She pecked my cheek and I pushed her off. She waved and said,

'See you later, Tony!'

'Don't worry about her, baby.' Mike said, engulfing me in his arms. He kissed the top of my head and my nose was pressed against his chest. 'I've got a stay-at-home date night planned.' He beamed at me.

'Go get your pj's on and I'll meet you in the lounge?'

'Sure.' I smiled at him, then started dodging the piles of linen everywhere. I took off my top and swapped my jeans for plain black pajama bottoms. I grabbed a few blankets and wrapped them around my shoulders. I shuffled out to the couch and flopped down on it. Heat filled my stomach as Mike placed out dinner on my tummy.

'Hey!' I protested, the heat quickly sinking through the thin blankets.

'Don't get up. It might spill.' I could hear the smile in his voice. He walked off, and came back. I looked over at him and saw that he too was in his pajamas.

'What are we watching?' I asked, trying to sneak a peek at the title. He hid it from my view and I let out a sigh.

'You'll see.' He said. He came and took the food off of me and sat down as the familiar Disney music tinkled through the speakers. We dug into our meal as the merchant tried selling us Tupperware. We finished our meal halfway through Aladdin's introduction song and we shifted position so that I was curled up next to Mike, his arm around my shoulders. He was absentmindedly tracing my tattoos, going lower down my back as he followed the familiar pattern. He hit one of my most sensitive spots, and I shivered, goosebumps rippling up my skin.

'Are you cold?' Mike asked, brushing his fingertips over that same spot, laughing at my involuntary reaction.

'No.' I said, but he wrapped the blanket closer around me. He stopped tracing my tattoos, and I said,

'Just because I shiver doesn't mean I want you to stop.'

He laughed and I kissed his neck, the highest spot I could reach. He shivered, and I did it again, earning the same reaction. I stopped and moved the blankets up higher.

'Hey! Don't stop just because I shivered.' Mike threw my own words back at me. I chuckled and kissed him a few more times and he returned to tracing my tattoos.

Notes

Title cred: Caraphernelia - Pierce the Veil
I do not hate any of Pierce the Veil's past, present or future girlfriends. They have a right to be with whoever they want, and seriously, I can't really change their minds. But anyways, just so there's no bad blood or whatnot, I don't mean to offend anyone. This is fiction and Stephanie just plays the part of jealous ex.
