Trying to Hold It All Together

I want to call you mine, want to hold your hand forever

Tony slammed the wooden door causing pictures up against the wall to frantically shake in place. Furiously, he entered his house in rage at everything that had happened the past week. Today hadn't been much of a day to remember either and instantly he knew it wasn't going to get better anytime soon. His brown hues scanned the contents of the refrigerator in hopes of coming up a fresh new can of beer. To his own avail, only milk and several fast food remained inside.

Mentally, Tony cursed himself for forgetting to go to the grocery store for the third time this week. If he hadn't gotten sidetracked then he wouldn't be feeling the familiar warmth of misery's arms wrapped around his stern torso. He longed for the tempting liquid to find its way down the back of his throat; soothing his nerves. That was quickly out of the question due to his findings which simply left him disappointed.

Unexpectedly, his fist came in contact with the wall closest to him before he found himself screaming out in frustration. Everything was collapsing to pieces yet again and this time it was even more chaotic than before. He wished for all his problems to go away eternally but despite his desires and craves his nightmare were coming back to haunt him and there was no telling when they were going to end.

"Hold still Tony," Melanie giggled as her hands filled with her new Canon camera. Tony draped an arm around her waist; bringing her body in and closer to his own creating a perfect fit. "I'm trying," He said before pressing his warm lips onto her rosy cheek."You're just too cute not to mess with."

Her enjoyable laughter hit his ears again causing him to melt on the spot. It was something he grew fond of and loved all the way back when they first met months ago. The timer clicked and instantly the flash appeared. Melanie then took the camera off her tripod and turned it around, giving herself the chance to glance over at the new picture.

In the blink of an eye, a grin spread over Tony's face once he saw the outcome: it was stunning. His lips were attached to his girlfriend's cheek while her pearly white teeth shined brightly as she had tried her best not to 'ruin' the photograph with her laughter but in spite of it the image turned out perfectly.

Tony let out another long, aggravated piercing scream. He struggled to compose himself over the faint memory but it made things even worse. Suddenly, his rage erupted into a full on chaotic fit. One by one, he started knocking down items on the kitchen counters left and right. Bills, utensils, dishes which were now shattered pieces of glass on the floor.

Anything in his sight bothered him more than usual. Even a simple chair or two had managed to be flipped over or thrown in the process of transitioning as he moved back into the living room of the house he had once love. A house filled with memories tearing his mind to pieces at the very moment. From all of the ruckus he continued to make, Tony's hand struck a picture causing it to descend down along with other items following the aftermath.

Melanie struggled to find a home for her latest work of art. She had spent all day contemplating on which room to place it in both none of her choices seemed to stick with her due to the second guessing of each decision. A sigh left her newly peach coated lips; fingers ran throughout her strands of hair as she kept on debating each option inside her head. "Mel," Tony's voice called out to her and it didn't take long for her to look up at him as they locked eyes with one another.Together, he stared deeply into her dazzling green eyes while she found herself lost in his breath-taking, chocolate ones.

"You seriously can't still be working on that thing." He jokingly addressed about her recent dilemma. "It's a lot harder than you think Tony." Melanie attempted to explain from her own perspective.

Tony laughed lightly making sure his gaze never left her. "Come on it can't be that hard. Why don't you just position it right here?" He then took the framed photograph from Melanie's hands and placed it in the middle of all the other pictures the couple had in their living room.

That's when she took the time to step back and glanced at where Tony stood. It was absolutely wonderful. Her lips curled upwards into a smile, "I love it."

The framed photographed was currently shattered; glass laid spread out on the floor where Tony's feet where as he hurried to pick up the pieces of what was left. His mouth was opened ajar as his fingers slowly ran over the image. "I-I-I'm so sorry," He whispered, "I didn't mean to." No one else was inside the house but that didn't stop Tony from continuing to murmur apologies.

Glancing up from the photo, he saw all the damaged he had created. Numerous of cuts and bruises covered his body from the incident while tears flowed onto his skin. He was turning into one of his worst fears: a monster.

A slow melodic tempo started up as Melanie swept inside the house. Her feet swayed along to a song she knew all too well while she continued to clean up. Being quite the procrastinator she was from time to time it wasn't difficult for her to get carried away easily.

"You know I'd fall apart without you, I don't know how you do what you do." She sang to the sound of Hunter Hayes' skillful voice.

Unbeknownst to her, Tony had walked downstairs after waking up from his afternoon nap. It was rare for him to see Melanie singing due to her low confidence levels but he adored every second of it; especially since he had grown fond of her slight obsession with country music here and there. Immediately, he took it upon himself to help his beautiful girlfriend out.

"Put aside the math and the logic of it, you got to know you're wanted too." Melanie stopped in her tracks to sing her heart out.

Before she could belt out the next lyric her eyes fell onto Tony who appeared by her side, singing, "'Cause I want to wrap you up, want to kiss your lips, I want to make you feel wanted."

Tony stared back into her mesmerizing eyes as she sang back to him. "And I want to call you mine, want to hold your hand forever, and never let you forget it."

His tattooed hands removed the broom from her own before then moving to hold out his hand towards Melanie, "May I?" He questioned and earned a simple nod of approval from her. Both of their bodies moved together in perfect symmetry to the music.

The occasional laugh or smile would escape from one of the two's lips but in the end they were just happy to live in the moment with one another.

Tony spun Melanie around making her brunette locks fly in the air before landing back down. He then gently pulled her closely to his chest before dipping her as the last chorus of the song could be heard on the stereo. The song finally came to the end but not before Tony planted his warm lips onto Melanie's peach flavored ones. Her arms wrapped around his neck as she surprised him this time by deepening the kiss herself.

Tony felt himself become intoxicated with her even more but it was only right. She provided the light in his dark world and right next to his band and family, Melanie was the only other person who mattered to him most.

Tony raked his hands through his hair as he debated on what to do. He needed someone dearly but who was there to talk to when he had completely driven everyone who cared apart. Most of his time was spent at work alone in the back of the store doing inventory and majority of the workers could care less about him. On top of it he had been fired the day before so there wasn't much he could do.

Then there was his mom. It would break her heart to have to put up with her son's heartbreaking behavior and the last thing he wanted was to cause more trouble for her. It was bad enough being a disappointment in his very own eyes let alone anyone else's.

His mind trotted over yesterday's events and instantly Jaime's faced popped up. It had been a while since either one had seen each other but the way Jaime had stared at him made Tony quickly run off to work only to soon find out he had been fired. Talking to Jaime was a lost cause in his mind which made the entire situation difficult.

Taking the time to think it over, Tony picked up the kitchen phone which he was thankful wasn't destroyed in the catastrophic mess he had caused. Right away, the other person on the line picked up.

"911, what's your emergency." The person calmly asked.

"There's someone here threatening to harm himself." Tony replied, pulling on the edge of his shirt's collar. His breathing became heavy because he knew that soon after the call he would quickly find himself losing it once more.

The emergency operator penned his address and asked for Tony's confirmation which he kindly received."Do you have any idea on who the victim is sir," they questioned Tony after they reassured him help way on his way.

"That's easy," He replied, "It's me."

Melanie's head rested on the soft pillow; her body covered up in cozy white sheets. Tony moved closer to her making Melanie smile in her spot as she stared at him.

"What are you thinking about?" He whispered her way. There wasn't a day that went by where he didn't question himself on what she spent her time daydreaming over.

"It's nothing," she tried to play off but it didn't work.

"Come on," He laughed, "I won't judge Mel."

"Okay."

Tony watched the love of his life as she put together her thoughts. "I'm just scared that's all." Her words left him confused right away. What was there to be scared of exactly?

"Wh-" He was cut off by Melanie already.

"I know it may sound stupid but years from now do you even see us together Tony? I've never felt the way I do now with anyone else but you. I'm scared of this relationship only being a fairytale before one of us finds someone new. I guess I'm just worrying more than I should really but I don't want what we have to ever end." She confessed to him.

"You know how I know our relationship is more than a fairytale?" He asked. Melanie sent him a confused look.

"I know our relationship means more than that because I can see myself spending almost every single day with you Mel. Every now and then I picture us, getting engaged, married, and even having a few of our kids running around the house someday. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and grow old together because our love is eternal. It might be hard to explain but the feelings I get around you are nonstop and it just goes to show how real this is."

"I don't know what to say," Melanie responded.

"I love you and will love you no matter what. That's all you truly need to remember." His lips landed on hers for a quick late night kiss before he parted away from her.

"Come on let's get some sleep," Tony suggested, "We have a blanket fort to build tomorrow on our do nothing day and you're going to need all the rest your beautiful eyes can get." He said, putting a smile on his girlfriend's face; one thing he loved doing.

"Goodnight Tony," Melanie murmured before her eyelids shut themselves.

"Goodnight," He whispered back.

Tony so desperately wanted to go back to simpler times. Too bad he understood that it was far from ever happening.
