The Reason

Tony and I talk about how he's been on the drive home and it feels like I dont have any problems.. Like nothing is wrong In my life. It feels nice to say that... Soon he drops me off at home and I see that dad isn't home yet. Tony also said that I should tell him if I'm going to see my mom tomorrow or not by the end of the night too. I feed Char and then walk upstairs to my room and play a few songs by All Time Low and Rise Against on my guitar while I think of my decision. Should I meet her? In a way, I don't think I should. She did kinda loose her chance of having me around when she just left me with dad. But then again, Tony's right. She should be able to meet her own daughter, at least once. This is too difficult of a decision to make. I lay down on my bed for a good 20 minutes thinking before I make my decision. I sit up and call Tony.

"Hey Kitz!"

"Hey Tone. I make my decision."

"Really? What is it?"

"I'll do it."

"That's great! Let me call her and tell her, yeah?"

"Alright."

"Awesome."
He hangs up and calls back about 10 minutes later.

"Alrighty, she said she's really excited to finally be able to meet you. I'll be over at your place to pick you up at 10 tomorrow morning to drive you over to her, okay?"

"Cool. Do you know if I'm going to spend the whole day over there?"

"I'm not sure. Maybe."

We talk for a bit then hang up. I go back to playing my guitar for about another hour before I hear my dad open the front door. I go downstairs to greet him and he kisses my forehead.

"We need to talk sweeheart."

"Um, okay."
We walk to the living room and sit down on the couch.

"Yesterday I know I came home late. And I'm really sorry about that. I really am. I went to go see your mother and things almost happened. But Uncle Mike was there to stop me from doing something stupid. Your mother still wants to take you away from me. And I can see why. I leave you here alone too often and you don't have the life that you should have. You should have your parents with you all the time but you hardly ever even have me around. It isn't fair that I leave you here for months at a time, come home for two weeks, then leave you again. It's wrong, even If I leave you with grandma and grandpa. But things can't change right now. Soon, I promise, soon things will. And as away to say sorry, I'm going to give you a small surprise. But here's the catch. You won't be able to know until Friday. Okay?" He says, looking me in the eye.
I take a deep breath and say, "Okay."
He smiles and kisses the top of my head.

"I'm sorry about everything that's been going on lately."

"It's okay.."

"Hey Kitzie?"

"Yeah?"

"I love you darling."

"I love you too dad." I smile.
