High School Never Ends

While sat in the waiting room, at the clinic, I decided to send Mike a text.

To: Mike
From: Aria

“Hey, it’s Aria. Thanks for today, I owe you :)”

Soon, mum was released. The drive home was as per usual: silent. When we arrived home, she headed straight for her bedroom, God knows when I’ll next see her. Throwing myself onto the sofa, I flicked the TV on and left it playing in the background whilst I got lost in my thoughts. I was trying to figure out a way to avoid Amelia for the rest of my life. However, I kept coming to the conclusion that I was going to skip town. At times like these I would always have my sister, Paige, by my side. Sometimes, I’ll just breakdown. It’s hard to go from looking up to your older sibling to suddenly having to look after yourself. Sure, we argued probably just as much as normal sisters do. She would pull my hair and I would tell my mum, and enjoy the satisfaction of her getting into trouble and vice versa.
When my dad left, mum turned into the person she is now. We lost her for a few months. I was 8 years old at the time making Paige 10. We hid under the covers together throughout all their fighting. One day we woke up and he was gone, a note left on the coffee table for me and Paige. She read it once, twice, every night but it never numbed the pain I knew she felt. Never in my life, have I read that note. I can’t bear the thought of what words are written on there; I never want to know the truth.
Paige hid all her feelings just to protect me. If anyone said one bad word to me, her and her friends took care of it. Only now do I wonder what part Vic had in her life. There are so many questions that I want to ask him about her, however I’m not sure he even realises that I was Paige’s sister.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, I was snapped out of my thoughts by my phone.

“Heyyy, Ari! Today was my pleasure, I enjoy a good detention. :P Anyway, what do you say to meeting me and the guys in about 30 mins?”

“Sure. Where?”

“I’ll pick you up. Trust me on this one!”

“Get me killed and I’ll haunt you Fuentes.”
