High School Never Ends

Job Description

For the next couple of hours, me and Mike put as much distance between each other as possible. When we told each other that we loved each other and kissed and all that malarkey, we never really thought to plan what happened next.
Where we dating?
If so, were we going tell the guys?
Do we hold hands in public?
All that crap continued to flood my thoughts for the next two hours, as I stared in the opposite direction of Mike. From time to time, Vic would glance between the two of us with a confused expression before going back to the television. Nobody really spoke. Everybody was occupied with the thought of what was going to happen today with the exception of me and possibly Mike.
When the time came to go and meet the dealer, we drove silently to the warehouse without any words, or even looks, made towards each other. Finally, we made it to the warehouse and Mike hesitantly knocked on the doors.
Again, the doors swung open, as they did last time, revealing Trix in all his glory. The only difference this time is that he had a warmer expression on his face than he did last time.
“Hey.” Mike waved awkwardly
“Right this way.” Trix gestured for us all to enter
He led us back to the dealer’s office and offered us all a seat. Once we were all seated, the dealer took his place.
“It’s nice to see you all, and you’re punctual as well. That’s great for the job.”
“Listen, sir, if you don’t mind…”
“Call me Alastair, sir seems much too pretentious.” Alastair smiled
“Okay. Alastair, please could you explain what exactly this ‘job’ entails?” Vic asked, politely
“Well, to put it simply. You deliver our orders to our customers.”
“So it’s just basically like a postal service?” Jaime questioned
“Yes.” Alastair nodded
“Except illegal.” Tony muttered
“Your friend is right. It is illegal, yet it seems that your friend’s life depends on it.” He reasoned
“How long will it take us to get all the money we need?” I asked
“At the most, around two weeks.”
“You said a week, Ari.” Mike sighed
“I-I… I didn’t know, sorry.” I mumbled
“Look, it’s all very simple. If Paige could do it, I’m sure you all can.”
“He’s right.” Vic chuckled lightly
“Two weeks and it’ll all be over. Your friend will live and there will be no more debt.”
I turned to face the guys with a pleading look. Slowly, they all nodded.
“We’ll do it.” I agreed, before shaking Alastair’s hand
“Great. Here’s a list of names.” Alastair smiled, as he handed me a slip of paper. “You’ll find them all on the alleyway on 4th.”
“Right.” I nodded
“And here’s the goods. They’re all in their separate bags, all the same weight. Each person gets one, and in return you should receive $50. If they don’t have the money, they don’t get the parcel: simple.”
“Okay.”
“I want you back here, 10:00 tomorrow morning, with $100 deposit. You can keep the rest of the money.”
Trix was called back in to escort us out. As soon as we were outside, we each took a deep breath.
“This is going to be an experience.” I stated, in an attempt to lighten the mood
“As long as it doesn’t get us killed.” Mike smirked at me
