High School Never Ends

“Here’s the thing Mike…” I hesitated
I held my breath for a moment before letting out a deep sigh. Panicked, I looked over to Vic for help. I couldn’t do this, not now.
“Tasmin can never know about all this stuff with Paige!” Vic blurted out
“Oh, okay… That’s what all this fuss is about?” Mike asked me, concern evident in his voice
“Uh, yeh…” I nodded guiltily. “We thought you might be pissed off since you guys are pretty close.”
“Well I’m not!” Mike grinned
I half smiled before running out of the house. Slamming the door, I slid down the wall next to it and put my head in my hands.
Quietly, somebody crept out and gently closed the door behind them: It was Vic. He slid down next to me and wrapped is arm around me. Sighing, I rested my head on his shoulder.
“I can’t do this…” I murmured
“Yes, you can.”
“No, Vic, I really can’t. I’ve never felt this way about anyone. Everything was going perfectly and now I’m going to lose him to her because she’s prettier, funnier, better and fucking perfect.”
“That’s bullshit. Tasmin has her flaws and so do you. Mike doesn’t look at her like he looks at you. She’s his best friend since childhood. But you… You’re something so much different to him that he just can’t get his head around it.”
“What are my flaws!?” I pouted
Vic chuckled. “For one, you compare yourself to other girls. Everybody is completely different in the way that they think. You and Tasmin weren’t supposed to be anything alike so stop trying to put yourself down because you think she’s better. She isn’t better than you and you’re not better than her.”
“Why do you have to suddenly be really wise…? It’s pissing me off!” I lightly punched Vic’s arm.
“Oh gee, I am sorry.” Vic laughed
“What do I do now, wise one?” I asked
“Talk to him? Maybe you should just spend time with him.”
“I could try and seduce him?”
“I’ll remind you now that you’re talking about my little brother.” Vic cringed
“Exactly, so you know what…”
“STOP! Just go watch a movie or some innocent crap like that.”
I laughed and hugged Vic before heading back inside.
“Thank you.”
When I walked back inside, Mike was again throwing a bouncy ball at the ceiling whilst crashed on the sofa. I threw myself down next to him.
“What’s up?” Mike asked, sitting up
“Nothing much.”
“Wanna go out?”
“Huh, what!?”
“Thought we could go to the skate park or something. You could teach me some tricks!”
“Oh… Yeh, alright.”
After spending around an hour at the skate park, Mike had already busted his knee.
“Shit, you alright!?”
“Yeh, just great.” Mike winced
“My skill level is just too high for you, Fuentes.” I winked
“Shut up and help me!” Mike pouted
Quickly, I put his arm around my shoulders and helped him to his feet.
“You gonna be able to make it to the car or should I carry you?” I joked
“You’re too small to carry me.” Mike countered
“Am not!”
“You’re smaller than Vic!”
“Shut up!”
I led Mike towards the car park. The car park was just in view when suddenly Mike tripped. He tumbled to the ground dragging me down with him. I landed, quite comfortably, on top of Mike. He groaned out in pain beneath me.
“Having fun down the, Fuentes?” I smirked
Mike tried to shove me off be I held his arms down.
“Move.” Mike demanded
“Not until you admit that I’m a better skater than you.”
“Never!”
“I’m not moving then!”
“Fine, fine! You’re a better skater than me!” Mike shouted
“Damn right.” I laughed
I went to climb off of Mike when he suddenly pulled me back down. There was an unreadable look in his eyes. I couldn’t figure out what he was feeling in that moment but we stayed that for what felt like forever until Mike began to lean up towards me. My heart began racing but I didn’t move. I was too scared that he wasn’t going to kiss me and I would look like a complete fool. However, he got closer and closer until he was just inches away. Gently, he lightly pressed his lips against mine. However, the kiss was cut short by somebody calling out towards us.
“Hey! Are you guys alright!?”
