The Life and Lies of The How-To Manual

How to Marry a Turtle and a Season

“Autumn, no, just…no.”

I stared at, trying to tear my eyes from the sight. No, no…Autumn, honey…you can’t dance.

My best friend and the bride of this wedding was currently attempting to dance to Turn Down for What? I shook my head and forced her into her seat. My mother was in the corner grimacing. As soon as I had my back turned, Autumn leapt up and went to turn the song up.

My mom and I: “Autumn, no.”

Autumn: “Autumn, yes!”

And that’s how it went for past twenty minutes.

“I will duct tape you to this chair.” I threatened. She shut up and sat back down, although slightly grumbling about us being no fun.

“Where’s Jack and Alex? Have they shown up yet?” Autumn asked as I attempted to curl her blue hair. She had recently died it for the wedding, but under my mom’s powerful sentence, she was forced to get the colors go from light blue to darker blue. She looked really good with these colors, maybe even better than her classic dark blue style.

“I think so. Hold on, I think this is Jaime calling me.” I held the curler for a moment as I pulled my phone out of my pocket with the other hand. Of course, it was him.

“Hey, Himes.” I said into the speaker.

“Hey, MD. How’s it going?”

Turn down for what just got turned up for what. I scowled at Autumn and my mom swatted at her.

“Pretty good, I guess. Autumn won’t sit still. Is Jack and Alex there yet?” I asked. There was a pause, loud screaming, Tony yelping, Vic whining, and finally, a crackling before:

“HELLOOOOOOOO DING!” Jack shouted into the phone on the other side. I cringed a little, ringing echoing through my ears. I chuckled and Autumn squeaked.

“Hey boys!” She cheered.

“Hey, can we see her yet?” Alex’s voice came in much softer through the other speaker. I looked over to Autumn. We were almost done, I just had to fix her hair. She had her makeup on, and her dress. I needed to get into mine, but otherwise from that, we were almost ready.

My blue haired friend just nodded and grinned.

“She says yes. Be over in ten minutes and she’ll be ready.” I explained happily. I could hear Jaime in the corner whining about wanting to talk to me (how cute) and saying that Zack hit him with the lamp.

Mayhem had ensued and I barely could hear what was they were trying to tell me on the other end.

“Can I see her!?” Tony cried out.

“No, yah dingus! It’s bad luck!” Mike shrieked. I laughed and hung up. We’ll see them soon enough.

It took longer than expected, but eventually I managed to tame my best friend’s mane of vibrantly colored hair. In record time, I changed and tossed on my own makeup.

“Are you going to keep you hair down or put it up?” My mother asked as she adjusted one of the straps on my light blue dress. Autumn had, of course, chosen the colors of her wedding to be blue and silver themed. Surprisingly to me, she had chosen a white dress with classy heels. It didn’t seem like something she would wear, but she was pleased with how she looked.

“Yeah.” I responded quietly as I tugged the bristles of the brush through my long blonde hair.

There was a knock on the door as I set down my brush. Going over to open the hotel door, I saw seven boys all crowd around the frame.

“Hi, Ding!” They all chorused at once. I grinned and let them into our small hotel room. Jaime came up, pushing through Vic and Alex, to see me. I stood in front of him with a large grin on my face.

He looked absolutely stunning. Handsome. Spectacular. His hair was all spiked up in his puffy look that I loved. It was so fluffy and I remember back on the bus I used to love messing it up so that he would pout and I’d have to kiss his cheek to make it better. All the boys had their tuxes on with blue ties and a turtle pin on the bottom, just for Tony, but I had my eyes on only one of them. His brown eyes sparkled in excitement and disbelief.

“You’re so freaking beautiful.” He whispered to me. His eyes held a certain spark of disbelief and awe that I’ve see I blushed and looked down. I was just in my blue Maid of Honor dress and my new lightning Vans. I always wear my usual lightning shoes that are purple with a lightning print on them, but Autumn said that I needed a new pair because the old ones that I’ve had for about four years were too muddy and ratty for a wedding.

I begrudgingly agreed to buy a new pair.

“Thanks.” I mumbled. His hand grabbed my face, tilting up my cheek to bring my lips against his. I giggled a little as I stepped back, taking his hand in mine. He kissed my cheek before I turned and went to go beat back the crowd of fanboys from Autumn’s little area.

“You look amazing, Autumn.” Alex whistled. Vic gave her the thumbs up and Mike squeezed her shoulder. Autumn looked almost overwhelmed with all the attention. My mom stepped in front of her, warding the other back. I think Mike was still afraid that my mother would beat him with a pan.

She probably had packed an extra one in her bags, knowing her.

“Tony is going to be so happy to see you, Autumn.”

“He’s in for the surprise of his life.”

“I can’t wait to see the look on his face.” They all chirped. I grinned and giggled with her. Vic reached up, helping lead her out of the room, as delicate as a little butterfly.

She didn’t have a lot of bridesmaids, just some girls that Autumn met in college. I hung out with them occasionally, but not very often. They were all super sweet people and I enjoyed them.

I walked down in the back, hand in hand with Jaime. His thumb stroked the back of my hand gently. We took the last elevator down, completely empty since Jack and Alex had decided to squeeze in with everyone else.

“Ready for the wedding?” Himes asked me. I nodded, smiling happily. Jaime pulled my chin up for another kiss. I stood on my tippy toes to meet him. His hands pressed against the small of my back.

And that’s when I felt it happen.

It washed over my like a wave, a torrential downpour of dizziness. I pulled away from Jaime, holding onto his shoulders and pressing my face into his chest, groaning slightly.

I felt his hand stroke my hair carefully. “What’s wrong?”

“I don’t know. I feel really, really dizzy and I have a terrible headache.” I grumbled. The elevator dinged open on the first floor, a noise as terrible as Vic screaming about booze in the back of the van.

I closed my eyes to shut out the headache, but it wouldn’t go away.

“Come on, baby, we’ll get to the limo soon enough. Once you sit down, maybe that will help. Is it head rush, maybe?” He questioned. I shrugged as we slowly made our way out of the hotel and down to the pull through driving circle. Two limos were waiting for us. The guys would leave in one in after us girls left in ours.

“Yeah, maybe. I’ll ask my mom for some Tylenol.” I nodded. Jaime looked back down at me worriedly. I smiled and turned back to Autumn and the other girls.

We all said our goodbyes as the limo headed off to the little church where Tony and Autumn were to be married. The drive wasn’t long, but my head was pounding away the entire time. We all chatted and I forced a smile on my face after my mom said she didn’t have any medicine.

I can live through this. I’ve been through worse.

It didn’t take long for us to all get in our positions. It was just as we rehearsed, nothing more nothing less. All of it was perfect.

I watched with pride as my best friend walked down the aisle. The small room shuffled to life as we all stood up. Once I gave my friend the thumbs up, I turned to Tony. His jaw had dropped ten feet through the floor. His eyes lit up in awe, like he was staring at the most beautiful picture in the world. Autumn looked stunning.

I’d love to explain more of the wedding ceremony, but I think I passed out for part of it, woke up, gave my speech (hooray, blah blah blah, wedding blah blah blah, happiness, ugggh!), and then did the little walk after they kissed (which was very adorable, by the way).

They passionately kissed, holding it for just long enough to make us all uncomfortable, and then they broke apart for us to walk down the aisle. Jaime, one of groomsmen for the wedding, grabbed my hand as we walked down the aisle. He ruffled my hair and kissed the top of my head.

“Headache?” Jaime whispered to me as we entered the hall, all ready for cake and dancing. I couldn’t wait to see Mike and Vic break a move on the dance floor because everyone knew that the two Fuentes boys could dance like no one else. We all teased Vic to being a terrible dancer, but he could really bring it if he was with his brother.

I snapped out of it as Jaime repeated the question. “It’s better, actually. Almost gone. I think once we eat, it’ll be gone.” I answered. Jaime nodded, squeezing my shoulder gently.

“That’s good.” He murmured before Tony came and pulled him away from our conversation. I laughed as they goofed around. I took my seat with the others in the wedding party at one of the head tables.

The evening passed in joy and fun. Vic and Mike were out dancing on the floor. Turtle and Autumn were being cute as they had the first dance. I knew Tony’s face was going to be sore in the morning from all the smiling. He had a cute little green turtle pin on his left collar that glowed under the dim lights of the room.

Cake was good. Dancing was good. Jaime pulled me out on the dance floor even though I’m hopelessly uncoordinated. Someone probably snapped a picture.

Overall, everything was…good. Lovely. Perfect.

Autumn had her happy day, and it would be the day that Perriado died for many shippers and the day of eternal happiness for all Tonumn shippers for their OTP to finally come true.

At the end of a very long night, most of the guests (including my very weary mother) had left and it left us with All Time Low and the PTV boys. I leaned into Jaime’s side, eyes fluttering closed. Autumn looked just as tired.

“Ready to go to the hotel room, babe?” Tony asked Autumn softly. She grumbled a reply that Tone took as a ‘yes’. In the blink of an eye, Tony had scooped up the girl in his arms, letting her link her hands around his neck and put her head in the crook of his neck.

“Autobots, roll out.”

And they were gone.

“Cheesiest thing ever said.” Vic yawned. I chuckled and kissed Jaime’s cheek, pulling him away from the quickly dispersing group. We walked back up to his room that he shared with Vic and Mike who were still downstairs.

“Wanna sleep, dear?” he asked sweetly, his lips tickling my jawline. I shivered at the romantic touch. I’m sure he had a certain thing in mind that required bed, sheets, and plenty of loud noises…

“Sure thing, Himes.” I laughed, nosing into his neck. He opened the door for me, letting me walking into the bedroom. Before he could even close the door, I stripped out of my dress, took one of his shorts, some of his boxers, and changed into them.

“Mmm…you still look so beautiful.” Jaime growled lowly in his throat. I gently laid the dress over the back of a chair beside his bed. I kicked of my shoes and turned to him. He loomed over me, looking down to me with a certain lust in his eyes. I ran my hand down his toned chest, leaning forwards and kissing his collarbone. He held me tightly.

I helped him out of his jacket as he grabbed my hips, holding me close to him. Things were getting pretty heated up when I broke away, looking into his deep eyes.

“Comfortable?” I growled seductively. He nodded, looking anxious to start…ahem…getting started.

“Yes, my dear.” He chuckled.

In the instant, I grinned brightly, yawned, and jumped in bed, crawling under the sheets and curling up in a bed.

“So am I. Goodnight.”

Jaime whined and stripped quickly before jumping in bed with me. One arm wrapped around my waist.

“I was expecting more.” He whined. I yawned, flicking his hand since I was too tired to turn around and flick his nose.

“And I was expecting chocolate cake at the wedding. You know what I got? A stupid vanilla and raspberry filling cake.”

He was silent.

“But I was happy with it because Autumn wanted it. Now, goodnight.”

Jaime sighed, kissing my neck gently.

“Goodnight, my beautiful girl.”

Notes

Hello everyone! I hope you're all having a great day!

Sorry chapters haven't been posted a lot recently. I was on vacation and the site had google login problems that I managed to fix by logging into Facebook instead of Google.

Okay, another thing is that I didn't know that Jaime is working on a solo project but he's got some SERIOUS talent. Like, I love Vic as a singer and I think his voice is beautiful, but Jaime has the voice of an angel as well! Seriously, go look up Anatome by him. It'll bring you to tears. All his other songs are amazing as well!

Anyways, I hope you have an amazing day, don't forget to subscribe/vote/comment!

Ok so you have a lot to answer for considering it’s 2 am, I have to be up in 3 hours and I’m bawling my eyes out.
If you see this, thank you for writing such a beautiful story in both this and the first part. Even though it was fanfiction, I connected with it, having just lost my cousin to a brain tumour that basically turned him into Willow. He lost most of his basic function in a very similar way to Willow, and then died in the final hours of his 16th birthday, a year after diagnosis. The way you wrote this made me relive that, and your writing took me on a journey
TL:DR I'm crying, thank you. <3
