The Night Can Be Deadly

I don't know what happened the rest of the night. But the one thing I do remember is killing all of the Geeks. Then seeing Jaime's eaten up corpse lying on the floor. His hands sticking out like he needed help. The sight was terrible. I do also remember Jessica running down there and crying into Jaime's bloody corpse. Everyone was talking too much about the recent incident. All I could do was sit there and stare. Stare at how Jessica would sob into his chest, whimpering his name. And stare at how Jaime's eyes laid open, staring up at the ceiling as if he was alive. Not wanting to see that anymore, I turned to my right to see Kellin sitting next to Blossom, picking at his Toms. My head was spinning and I decided to lay on my back. I clutched onto Iris's bandanna. Deep breaths, deep breaths Vic, I thought to myself.

The rest of the night went by slowly. And I really couldn't sleep because the recent scene haunted me. At some point in the night, I felt Blossom curl right next to me, and tucked herself under my arm. It reminded me of how Iris would get mad at her parents and leave in the middle of the night and climb through my window before crawling in my bed and tucking herself in my arm. I remember waking up the next morning and seeing her beautiful face and smiling. I would kiss her forehead until she woke up and when she did, I would kiss her chapped lips before hugging her closer. It also reminded me of when I would watch movies with her and I would have her next to me.

The thoughts of Iris saddened me and I really missed her. Jessica never came up at all. Which kinda scared me when her sobbing from downstairs stopped. So I ended up picking Blossom up and tucking her into Kellin's arm as Katelynne slept with the girls. I crept down the stairs and clutched onto my gun that was strapped to my hip. Jessica was curled up right next to Jaime's body. Just seeing him made me wanna cry all over again. But I needed to stay strong for everyone. Especially Jessica. It was kinda weird to think of how Jessica was able to sleep next to a dead person without gagging.

But I'm not judging her. It was the love of her life. They've been together since high school. And I can see why she would sleep next to his rotting corpse. If it was Iris, I'd do the same. Gently, I picked Jessica up before something were to happen. To admit, she was heavier than Iris. I was used to picking up Iris and it being like lifting a feather. But I wasn't gonna complain. Jessica is in a bad time and I couldn't let her wake up with something in her face. Like her dead boyfriend. I shook Kellin awake and he opened his eyes before asking, "What's wrong?" "I think we should maybe burn Jaime's body." I whisper. I know, it seems evil but if we ditch his body when we leave, he will be eaten, and if we burn him, he wouldn't still be trapped here in this world.

I'd want that. "I think so too." He whispers back before messing with his beanie. "Okay, wake up the girls. I'll wake the guys." With a nod, Kellin went to the girl's corner. I shook Tony awake and then Gabe, Jack, Justin, and Mike. Quickly before Jessica could wake, I explained everything. Tony and Gabe went to take Jaime's body outside as we all looked for lighters. Alysha had one luckily and Jenna offered to wake Jessica and calmly explain everything. Once everyone was outside, we surrounded Jaime's body and Tony cleared his throat. "I just wanna say...Jaime was our best friend. He was a caring and heart filled guy. He was the life of the party, the funny guy. Not only band mate but brother. And he was so special to us. In our hearts."

Tony's voice cracked and he went back to Erin so I decided to speak up. "What Tony is trying to say is Jaime was everyone's brother. And Jessica we understand it all. Jaime wouldn't want us to be moping around. He'd want us to celebrate. Wrong yes but he would want it! I don't know what I'm saying I just miss him. I should shut up. All I want is him back." I whisper. Alysha pulls out her lighter and hands it to me before hugging me quickly. I near Jaime's body and look around. Everyone nods and I nod back before flicking the lighter. "I love you man. Sorry." I whisper to him only before dropping the lighter on him.

Flames erupt and fill the rooms. Crackles and crunches and sobs and sniffles fill the room. As soon as Jaime's body turns into ashes, we stomp out the fire and watch the smoke disapear for a while. Finally we can sleep without worries. I laid on my back as Jessica sobbed from in the corner. The sobbing turns into chokes for air and as soon as I turn to see Jessica,



a gunshot fills the air.
