The Night Can Be Deadly
We Have A Problem
Blood. That was the only smell you smelled these days. The thick metallic smell of blood. It's gross and sticky. But these days you need to get used to it in order to live. "We're almost there." Jaime says from they front of the line. I suddenly stop walking. We had just past my parents house. The question was were they still alive. Mike looked at me with the same thought as I did. "Jaime." I say getting him to stop walking. Everyone else soon sees and gathers around me. "Is something wrong?" Jessica asks.
"Thats mine and Mike's house. We need to know if they're alive. Or at least out of here!!" I say pointing. Jaime looks around before looking and Mike and I. "Okay. " he sighs. Mike and I shared a look before taking a deep breath and kicking the door down. The house is silent and reeks of blood. As we pass by the kitchen table, there is a meal set up that's already eaten off of. And flies cover the majority of it. Blood cakes the walls like a painting.
Picture frames crash on the floor having glass shattered all over the floor. A coffee table in the kitchen has a dead body on it covered in blood. Luckily it wasn't either one of them. "They might be hiding out upstairs." I say to Mike who nods and follows me. The walk up the stairs was nothing special. Just a few creaks and moans from the stairs. But my stomach knotted as I stared at the closed bedroom door at the end of the staircase.
"we go to that room last." Mike says with a shaky voice. I nod and the first room we stop at is Mike's. It's already open so we walk right in. His room smells of him as we search. The window next to his bed is broken into though. "I remember these!" Mike chuckles holding up a set of Playboys. Rolling my eyes I continue to look around. It's trashed and littered in soda cans, boxes of Nerds, some beer cans, and food everywhere.
Nothing really to look at so Mike and I end up leaving. Next, we go to my room which is also open. Compared to Mike's room, my room is much more cleaner than his. Only a couple socks and shoes laying around. My window remains closed and my bed neat and untouched. Just like it used to be. Nothing also in here. Well that leaves our parents' room. It was a slow and careful walk. We really were afraid of what we would find.
As as soon as we reach the door it reeks of death. And that scares me. Slowly and carefully, I hold my gun out as I open the door. Nothing is in the room but the sigh on the bed is crushing. My mom lays on the right, my dad on the left. They hold guns in their hands and their free hands are laced together. A bullet wound lays at the side of their temples. They commuted suicide. Our parents.
I dropped to my knees as did Mike. It was like a tidal wave flew over us causing us to burst into tears. It took us a few minutes until the two of us hugged each other tightly and sobbed into each other. I clutched onto mikes shoulder as I sobbed and he clutched onto my shirt. "Guys let's go. Don't look come on." Jaime says grabbing our shoulders. The walk downstairs was full of sobs and chokes.
Once we arrive outside, Kellin says, "Guys we have a problem." I look up to see what he's talking about and I can see why.
A little girl stands in the middle of our circle.
