Hidden in Plain Sight

Chapter 3

*Jamie's POV*

We all walk outside waiting for Carly as she locks up our studio, and stand by our cars. She soon exits the building and walks over to us, obviously noticing that we wanted to speak to her. She walks over to us and Vic is first to speak. "Hey Carly, you wanna come out for a couple drinks tonight?" He asks politely.

She stands in a deep thought before replying. "Yeah sure why not. Where are we going?"

"We were thinking of going out to The Prince-" Vic was cut off.

"Or we could just chill at my place tonight?" Tony buts in.

We look around and at each other, reading each other's facial expressions as we silently decide on what we want to do tonight. Carly awkwardly stands around dumbfounded by our random silence and facial expressions.

"Yeah sure, we'll chill at Tony's tonight" Vic announces. "See you guys tonight" he says before he and Mike begin to walk off.

"Oh yeah, just a couple of questions" Carly announces. "One; where do you live Tony? And two; do I need to bring anything?"

"I live at 452 Princeton street. And bring what you want if you want, otherwise I have drinks for you" Tony smiles to her. Carly nods and begins to walk off to her car.

She waves to Tony and I before getting in her car and starting it up. The killer v8 engine quickly comes to life as Carly revs her motor. She sits there for a couple seconds before I hear music playing from her car. She puts her car into reverse and stops by my car.

Winding down her window, I do the same. She wants to talk. " So it's 452 Princeton right?" She asks through the window. Tony gives her a thumbs up. "Sweet, I'll see if I can find it tonight. Bye" she waves before she speeds out of the parking lot.

"She seems pretty mad" I say to Tony.

"What do you mean mad? She seemed pretty happy to hang with us tonight?" Tony looks at me with the most confused look on his face.

I laugh "no, I mean she seems cool, like a pretty friendly and outgoing person, not to mention she is a killer producer"

"Oh yeah, right" Tony laughs. "I still can't believe she recorded and All Time Low song all by herself to perfection"

"Yeah I was so freaking amazed. I literally thought she recorded herself over a backing track" I explain to Tony. Tony nods in agreement before we both go quiet.

Soon, I arrive at Tony's place and drop him off. He grabs his guitar out and waves me goodbye, after telling me to be at his place by about 7pm. He also told me to bring Jess along, get her to meet Carly and stuff. I told him I'll try to convince her to come before I took off.

---

When Jess and I arrive at Tony's, everyone is already there, and by everyone I just mean my band. Carly hasn't shown up yet. Hopefully she isn't lost. I don't even know how long she's lived in San Diego. Maybe she's been here her whole life or she's recently moved here. I don't know.

We all sit in Tony's luxurious lounge chairs with a beer each, talking about anything and everything. Well really we are all trying to guess Carly's accent and where she is from. We all recognised her accent and they way she talks at work today but never got around to ask her. We have placed bets.

Later Vic decides to speak up, and at the wrong time. Apparently Vic has been seeing this girl but it's nothing official yet. Mike, Tony and I begin to interrogate him like they do in the crime shows. We ask what day he did what, what she was wearing when they met and stuff like that. Vic was resistant against our attacks but was about to give in until we heard a loud car outside.

Tony looks out his window and laughs. "Carly found us!" We join Tony by the window, watching the short, blonde girl walk up the driveway with a bottle of drink in her hand. We end up moving into the lounge room waiting for her to knock but she doesn't.

"Don't worry guys, I made it!" She yells as she enters the house. She didn't even knock of ring the doorbell.

Tony walks around to meet her. "You didn't knock, you just let yourself in?" He asks.

"Well, I saw you guys laughing at me through the window so I figured you knew I was here. And plus my car is loud enough you can hear me a mile away" she says. Tony gives an understanding nod.

We all join them both in the kitchen, Tony grabbing Carly a glass for her drink. "You're not having a beer?" I ask her.

"Nope, I hate beer. I have to go straight to the hard stuff" she laughs holding up a bottle of bourbon.

"See I told you beer was horrible and I am not the only one who hates it!" I yell towards the general direction of Vic.

"You hate beer too?" Carly asks. I nod aggressively before showing her my glass of bourbon. We all laugh before walking into the back yard. It's a nice night tonight and I like Tony's backyard. It has a great outdoor setting and really nice spacious grassed area.

"So Carly, I have to ask, are you from America?" Vic asks. We've all picked up on her accent but haven't had the chance to ask her.

"No I'm not. I'm from Australia" she smiles.

"Called it!" Tony yells and throws his hands in the air. Carly gives us a questioning look. "Oh. Some of us picked up on your accent and we bet on where you were from. I said Australia, Jaime said England while Vic and Mike said you were from some other part of America. And I pinned it." Tony explains. Carly nods understandingly.

"When did you move to America?" Vic asks.

"I moved here when a I was about 18, about 5 years ago. I moved over here because things weren't going well in Australia so I moved up to Baltimore with a couple friends and worked with them for a while before accepting the job down here in San Diego. And to answer your next question, I've lived in San Diego for a month now, hence why I couldn't find Tony's place"

"Wait you said friends in Baltimore... Those friends wouldn't be in a band called All Time Low?" I asked. She winks and clicks her mouth at me, suggesting I have guessed it.

"Well, I became friends with Jack Barakat when his band was on tour in Australia and apart of my university course was live production, so I met him there...naked...passed out... On top of my trailer with all my equipment from university"

"Yep. That sounds like Jack" Mike says earning a great laugh from the rest of us.

Over the night, more drinks were poured, conversations continued and we had learned so much about Carly. The short blonde haired girl admitted to having an entire cupboard filled with band merchandise back in her home in Australia, although that wasn't her entire attire. She currently wore a Batman black and white baseball tee with light blue denim skinny jeans with red shoes and and a red jacket to match. It honestly suited her so well.

She also has an amazing personality. She's not shy at all and is willing to talk about almost anything with anyone. She is so friendly and welcoming too. Even at work this morning, she seemed so open with all of our ideas for our album. We're making our idea of our new album, not hers, and I guess that's what separates her from our other producers. I am pretty sure we'll get along great.

Let me know if you're interested yet guys. I promise it will get better!

Split it!!

If separating it into 2 parts makes the story have a better ending than I'm all for it. I don't mind waiting a little longer
