Shattered

You Said You Want Me, Now I'm Here

When I woke up in the late afternoon to the sound of Tino, Phil, Aaron, and Alan chanting like they were trying to summon the devil, I knew that it was bonfire day.

Austin and I had crashed on the couch after flipping through channels on the TV. He hadn’t let me out of his sight the entire week I had been here. It had been five days since I had come to the house and tonight we would have my “Moving in party”.

It meant lots of fireworks, food, insane games, and apparently, tribal chanting.

Looking up, I saw that Austin had already woken up a while ago and was content to hold me in his arms as we listened to the chanting increase and decrease in a slow wave. I think it was from outside. It sounded like a bunch of jumbled nonsense.

“Is this normal?” I asked him as I woke up.

“More or less.” He glanced out the window. I sat up on his lap and followed his line of sight. Of course, the red head was dancing around in the middle of the small circle that Aaron, Phil, and Tino had made.

“Should we stop them?” I questioned. There was a long moment of pause before Aus answered.

“Nah.” He shook his head and grinned mischievously. I hugged his neck as he pulled me down. It had looked like Tino and Alan’s truck had been filled with all necessary bonfire requirements.

“AUS! Do you have our sacrifice-I mean, Kynder?” Alan asked from the doorway. I couldn’t see him, but he sounded impatient.

“We are NOT sacrificing Kyn!” Austin yelled back.

“Well who else are we going to use?” He shouted back.

“AARON!” Phil called. Aaron yelped in surprise. Austin got up and wrapped his fingers through mine.

“I think that it’s our call to go.” He pulled me into Alan’s car. Everyone was starting to head off to our fireworks spot for the bonfire. It would be my first “official” night as someone in the house.
Aaron was still complaining about how “this was a democracy” and how “we need to vote for the sacrifice” and other various sentences strung together. So as we clicked the seatbelt into place, I looked out the window as the truck grumbled to life and backed down the driveway. What better way than to start off my new life?

Notes

Sorry for the super short chapter, guys! I have two other stories I'm working on and I need to work on the other ones, so I might be writing shorter chapters, depending on how much time I have!
