She Was Always The One

Goodbyes Are The Hardest

My alarm clock sang as an order for me to wake up. I turned of the alarm and checked the time, 3:00am, my flight leaves at 5am but my father insists I be at the airport two hours early just incase there is an issue with my flight and what not. I had packed three huge suitcases full of clothes the other day, and all my stuff is in boxes that I can not take with me so my father has to send me six boxes tomorrow. I probably won't get them for a good month or so. I think the worst part about all of this is I have to leave Prince, my bearded dragon, behind. Father says he will take him to the vet to be checked up and see if he can send him on a plane to California.

Since I know I'm far too tired to put effort into how I look, I run my fingers threw my hair and make a messy bun that sits on the top of my head. I slip out of my oversized pj top and spandex and proceed to my closet, I only left one outfit in there and it was then one I'd be wearing to California. I slip on the dark blue tie-dye Neck Deep shirt and my favorite pair of yoga pants. I grab my white knee high socks and sit on the ground to put them on. When I was done getting dressed I went to the bathroom to do a little something with my face. First I wash my face to get off all the oil that built up over the night. Then I put some white BB cream on as a base, next I put a little bit of powder foundation on, and lastly I put some brown mascara on.

I double checked and made sure I had everything that I needed before going downstairs to make a smoothie for breakfast. All the lights were off in the kitchen so I assume my father isn't awake yet. I grab all the ingredience I need and plop it in the blender and proceed to turn it on. After a few seconds of mixing I turn the blender off and pour my father and myself a glass. Not even five minutes after my father comes down the stairs with tired eyes and a droupy lip. He's upset that he won't be able to see me for a year. When he reaches the bottom of the steps he immediately makes his way to the table, pulls out the chair, and begins to suck on the straw in his smoothie.

Father was half way done his smoothie when he finally spoke up, "their son Mike will pick you up, he's the same age as you, he's tall and lanky, got some piercings on his face and has brown eyes. I understand you're gonna be tired when you get there but call me to let me know you landed." He looked at his smoothie and started playing with the straw as a way to distract himself from looking at me. "The fist thing I want you to do the next day is get a cell phone, I don't care what plan you get just make sure it's not over a hundred dollars, when you are done that I want you to go to the insurance place to get an American drivers license, Vincent already has a car ready for you when you get there."

He stopped playing with his smoothie and smiled a sympathetic smile towards me while reaching for my hand to place his over top "let's put your bags in the car." The drive to the airport was my father telling me little details about the family I was going to stay with. They have two sons Victor and Mike, their last name was Fuentes, my father grew up with their father, and they're still really close friends. We arrived at the airport when my dad slipped me a little piece of paper, "it's their address just incase anything happens". I shoot him a smile then get out of the car, father helped me unload the suitcases and placed them on the curb. Before I know it I'm wrapped up in a big bear hug, I just hugged him back as hard as I could before I heard him sniffle, it broke my heart to see my dad cry. Instantly I start to cry too. We finally pull away from each other, my dad rests one of his hands on my shoulder and speaks up " go, have fun, remember to call me and don't to anything stupid that will result in you being exported back here. Now here is your passport, call me if anything goes wrong". He kissed my cheek and whispered "I love you, we -referring to my mom- love you, never forget that" before he got in the car and drove off. This is gonna be one hell of a journey.
