One Hundred And One Sleepless Nights

Whenever it comes to a show with a lot of bands playing it makes me nervous. I don't have a very good track record at these things. It was all fine before I met Vic. Kellin would introduce me to everyone and I'd dance and maybe play a few drinking games after the show was over. But I meet Vic and bam! All of a sudden I'm getting threats and Charlie is pushed off of the stage.
I'm trying to spend the night avoiding Vic. It's not that I don't want to see him, I'm rather fond of seeing his face. I just know I'll blurt out about Polly and my adventure. Then he'll know that I know he cheated and that's never good. That's why I've been following Kellin like a lost puppy.
But as Kellin was talking about his touring schedule to someone I've never seen before in my life I spotted someone down the corridor. Jack was with Alex drinking and laughing obnoxiously loud. He was looking my way before he looked away again. So he knows I'm here. But does he bother coming over? Oh no, that would be the obvious thing to do.
Before I could think of a witty remark to make Vic blocked my view. He's storming over looking absolutely fuming. Shit. "Zee!" he snapped. Oh no. Maybe if I ignore him he'll just go away. "Zee," he said again. "Don't ignore me." Damn it.
"What?" I sighed. He took my hand and dragged me away. "Don't pull." I whined.
"What have you said to Polly?" he asked me seriously.
"Me?!" I asked my voice high. "I haven't said anything to her."
"You obviously have."
"Why would you think that? Maybe it's you!"
"What have I done?" Is he serious?
"You're distant."
"I'm not." Vic countered.
"You're short tempered."
"Am not."
"You haven't had sex with her for weeks!"
"How do you know that?" Vic rushed urgently.
"Female intuition." I lied.
"You can tell that?"
"Hmm..." I muttered.
"Look, Polly has gone missing and left me a note saying she needs to think. I need to find her."
"Now you want her." I snapped.
"Of course I do. What are you talking about?"
"I'm talking about you go to a bar and leaving with a girl!" I exclaimed.
"How-" he started. "Zee, I-" and I glared at him. "Where were you?"
"Nowhere. At the party like you were supposed to be. Polly and I went looking for you."
"Polly and you. What is this? You hate her."
"No, I don't." I sighed.
"You do." he countered.
"Stop avoiding it. You're a cheater!"
"I am not." Vic glared at me.
"So you just fell in her lady garden?" I mocked.
"I never cheated, Zee," he told me firmly. "You should know that. We had some drinks and I was going to go back to hers. But I couldn't, I couldn't do that to Polly." Well thanks, shame you didn't show me the same commitment when you hooked up with a lot lizard.
"Because your track record is so good. You never cheated on Leah. Or on the other one. What's her face. Or me. Or on Polly! You never even kissed me." I ranted dryly.
"I would only ever cheat on Polly with you." Vic snapped and glared at me before he stormed away. Well that's reassuring. For some bizarre reason though I believe him.
I spotted Kellin talking to Jack and Alex. I swallowed hard and brought up the courage to go over. I stood next to Kellin and Alex greeted me. "Hello." Jack said easily. Hello? Hello. What is wrong with him? How pretentious can you get?!
"I'm going to find my boys." Kellin told me. I nodded and watched him walk away. I turned back to Jack and rolled my eyes.
"Hello." I mocked a mans voice. Or I hope it sounded like a mans voice.
"What was that?" Jack raised his eyebrows at me.
"Doesn't matter," I huffed. "I need to go talk to more interesting people."
"Who?" he asked.
"Kevin!" I don't know a Kevin. I walked away from them, not really knowing where to go. I'm going to talk to Kevin. The only problem is I'm sure there isn't a Kevin in the building. I could go out in stage and shout to see who answers. That's an option.
I don't know why but that entire exchange felt pretty awkward. It was never awkward until I decided that I kind of like Jack. I went over to one of the green rooms but my shirt got caught on the door. I pulled until I heard a rip. Why me? I looked and saw a huge rip from my right breast all the way down to my hip.
I tried to cover myself and hurried to find Kate. Kate always has an extra outfit just in case someone is wearing the same thing as her. I found her by the stage and her eyes widened when she saw me.
"Help." I said desperately.
"How did you do that?" Kate gasped.
"I'll tell you when I'm not exposed!"
"Come on." she said and took me to the bathrooms.
We went inside and Kate pulled out a faux leather dress with the sides and back all cut out. She hands it to me and I went to change pretty gobsmacked. She has everything in her bag. I'm pretty sure she would pull out a corner couch if the occasion called for it.
I opened the door and saw Kate had disappeared. Looks like Mary Poppins has got out her umbrella and been swept up by the wind. I admired the dress in the mirror and then went out into the corridor. Kate was making out with Kellin. Nice to know where her priories lie.
I headed to get another drink. As I reached for one and took a sip I felt someone touch my waist. I looked and found Jack. He smiled at me and got a drink himself. "You look beautiful." he told me. Really? Do I?
"You look beautiful too," I said, getting all flustered and red cheeked. He raised his eyebrows. I hate when he does that. Is that what I look like? "I mean your shirt is nice!"
"Thanks." Jack smiled.
"Cool." I nodded and went to walk away.
"I mean your shirt is nice!" Jack mocked behind my back. I turned around and glared.
"Stop!" I snapped.
"Woah! What's wrong with you?" Jack asked, holding his hands up defensively.
"You never call me anymore after that party!"
"Zee," he sighed. "I know... But-"
"But what?" I asked softly.
"You never called me either!"
"I don't do the calling! It's not my job."
"Look, I wanted you to have time to think. You know, about how you feel. Everything's changed all of a sudden between us. You needed time to think about how you really feel. No rushing into things and it turning into shit," Jack explained. All of a sudden he smirked. "I think you like me," I blushed again and looked down. "I really really like you, Zee."
"You do?" I looked up.
"Oh yeah." he grinned. Then before I could say anything he leant down and crushed his lips to mine. I didn't react at first, I felt Jack pull away and frown at me. Then I reached up onto my tip toes and kissed him. He kissed me back and my arms snaked around his neck. Jack held my waist gently and pulled me close to him.
"Wow." I gasped when he pulled away.
"I know, I'm a good kisser." Jack joked.
"Shut up." I rolled my eyes.
"Come on, let's go outside." Jack said and held out his hand. I smiled widely and took it, heading outside.

Now serious talk for a second guys, I have gotten some feedback via both comments and private messages about how depressing my chapters are getting. I want to ask you, are you losing interest in the story because of that? Or for any reason? I know the first story was a lot funnier, but they were all younger. Zee didn't have any real responsibility and her problems weren't life defining (besides the pregnancy obviously). Choosing whether to introduce your child to a maybe boyfriend is serious. Custody is serious. Arguments with your child's father is serious. There's only so many puns I can add for some laughs. It's serious stuff. But please, let me know what your thinking is on this. If you want funny chapters that's fine, my problem is that you have a chapter with absolutely no plot involved. I can do that, but you'll have to give me a funny situation. I already have the entire story mapped out. I'm not calling anyone out, but please give me your thoughts. Stay hot :) xo
