One Hundred And One Sleepless Nights

Austin has always been that one person for me that is always there. He's been my friend for years. He was the first person I told about my pregnancy. He was the person I cried to when my boyfriends and I broke up. Now I feel guilty that he doesn't know about what Vic is trying to do. Saying that he's just got back from honeymoon.
Austin came round to my apartment and I let him in. I walked to my sitting room and to the couch while Austin followed me. I tucked my legs up to my chest and pouted. Austin nudged me and I smiled a little.
"How was honeymoon?" I asked.
"Great," he grinned. "I've got lots of pictures."
"You'll have to show me." I said.
"I know that Jemma isn't talking to you," he said. I nodded, I knew she wasn't. It's still radio silence from her. "I still love you though." he added and pulled me into a hug. I let him squeeze me until I pulled away and sighed. "So, what's wrong, Zee?" Austin asked.
"What makes you think there's something wrong?"
"I just know." he shrugged.
"I'm sorry." I gasped and put my head in my hands. I let out a sob and felt Austin's arms around me. I cried into my hands until Austin pulled my face against his chest. He stroked my back gently and pressed a kiss to my head.
"Tell me." he urged.
"Vic basically wants full custody of Alex." I managed to get out.
"What?!" Austin asked angrily. "That's bullshit!" he exclaimed. Austin let me go and stood up. He grabbed at his hair and went to leave. I rushed to get up and grabbed his arm. He looked down at me with dangerous eyes and I widened my eyes.
"Stop." I begged.
"Zee-!"
"No, stop," I ordered. I made him look at me and I sighed. I saw him slowly start to relax and he eventually went to sit down. "He probably won't even go through with it." I said. Austin nodded and started to mess with the cushion on my couch.
I heard a letter being pushed through my mailbox and went to get it. I picked it up and looked at the official-ness of it. I tore it open and my eyes flitted over it.

Dear Ms Knight,
This letter is to notify you that Mr Victor Fuentes will be seeking a legal custody agreement in regards to your son, Alexandria Zandra Knight. The Courts shall meet at a date to be decided in order to discuss this arrangement, and your attendance at this meeting is essential.

My grip on the letter tightened. I found it hard to walk back to Austin. He looked at me with caution as I collapsed down onto the couch. I handed him the letter and saw his eyes read through it. He sighed threw the letter across the room. He stood up and gently gripped my shoulders.
"I can't do nothing, Zee." Austin fumed.
"And you'll do what?" I mocked. "Beat Vic up? That'll really go into my favour at court."
"I have to do something! I don't know what to do!" he said, sounding desperate.
"I don't know," I chewed on my bottom lip. "Am I going to lose her, Austin?" I asked, my voice sounding almost childlike.
"No. Don't even say that. You're going to call Katelynne and she's going to help you get your head around all the legal stuff. She did it with the boys before." he told me. I nodded and Austin pressed my phone into my hand. I dialled Kate, waiting for her to pick up.
"Hey Zee!" Kate exclaimed.
"I need your help." I said desperately.
"What's happened?" she asked.
"It's Alex."
"Is she okay?" Kate asked urgently.
"Vic's taking me to court. He wants custody." I admitted.
"Are you okay?"
"No." I muttered.
"I'm coming right up." she said and hung up on me.

When Kate arrived with Kellin and Cope (the boys were too busy at home being 'different' and 'no one understanding them') Kate marched into my apartment, already ranting about what a 'C O C K face' Vic is. She sat me down to look at lawyers and legal things while Kellin and Cope went to make a snack and drinks.
Kellin brought things in and looked around. "Where's Alex?" he asked.
"With Vic." I muttered.
"That's good. If you let him have her whenever he wants it doesn't make you look unreasonable." Kate nodded knowledgeably.
"I can't believe he's doing this," Kellin shook his head. "I thought he was my friend."
"Didn't stop him from hooking up with me." I said dryly.
"Kel' got really angry on the way over. He almost called Vic." Kate explained.
"Thank you for caring that much." I said genuinely. Kellin rubbed my shoulder and smiled.
"I think you should call this one." Kate said and showed me a number.
"I'll do it when I get back. I need to pick Alex up." I sighed.
"Everything will be fine, Zee." Kate promised.
I nodded and went to get my keys. I left them and went down to my car. I headed towards Vic's, clutching the steering wheel hard. I couldn't make a scene. I couldn't shout. If I do it'll just go in his favour. I need to be calm and mature. I could do it.
When I reached his apartment I knocked the door. I second later Polly answered. She smiled at me slightly and I saw Alex running towards me. I hugged her and as I stood Vic appeared. I looked down at the floor, giving Alex's hand a quick gentle squeeze.
"I'll get Alex's bag." Polly said awkwardly before she hurried away.
I shook my head darkly and put my hands over Alex's ears. "I've never hated you more than I hate you now, Victor." I said with venom.
"You knew it would happen." Vic replied flatly.
"Let's not be stupid. We both know you don't want me to have Alex. That would disturb your little family. You want full custody," I said smoothly. Vic didn't say anything, just frowned at the floor. "You won't get it," I said smugly. Polly came and handed me Alex's bag. I gave her a quick smile before I gave Vic one last fleeting look and left with Alex.
