Discovering The Waterfront

“How many more days until I get to see your beautiful face, again?” Mike questioned with a smirk as we had our daily Skype dates. He was beginning to grow a little scruff upon his face and get lazier with his clothes; which I noticed quite quickly.

“Very, very soon, darlin’. Just a few more days, okay. Then in San Diego, I'm yours. You know how excited I am to see you?” I asked him, expecting an answer. I sat up on my bed so I could get a better view of him from my computer screen.

A smirk fell upon his lips and widened as he waited for my response. “How excited?”
“This excited.” I shot him a devilish grin as I unzipped the black fleece jacket I was wearing which revealed a black push up corset. I stood up showing the bottoms where were held with knee highs. I giggled as I witnessed his mouth drop and his brown eyes fill themselves with lust.

“I need to get the fuck home to you, now.” He insisted, his eyes not coming off of me.
“You really do.” I began to zip up the jacket again slowly, and the enjoyment of teasing him made me chuckle lightly. “But, until then, I guess this can wait.”

He ran his hands threw his hair and shouted, “Oh my god, Bonnie! Fuck, I miss you so much. I will walk my ass to Los Angeles from Phoenix to get to you right now.”

Licking my bottom lip before I spoke, the flirtation was dripping off of me. “Well, I’ll be waiting for you, baby.” I shot him a wink and continued to make him drool through the course of our conversation.

“Okay, so being a secretary for a couple of days isn’t that bad. You’re exaggerating, Bonnie.” Steven chuckled from across the room at my dad’s office space. Their usual secretary, Allison, was out of town as of yesterday, Thursday. So of course, my dad called me to do the job for her. The phone kept ringing and I was answering it, but I got so annoyed, I just let it go to voicemail a few times. Steven thought it was so funny at how annoyed I was.

“I’m not exaggerating. This is the most boring job on the fucking planet!” I exclaimed, hoping my dad could hear me from his office.

The phone rang and it said my dad’s name on it. “Yes?” I greeted once I put it on speaker.

“Bonnie, stop cursing.” He said blankly then hung up, making Steven cry from laughing.

I looked at the clock hanging on the wall, “Is it five yet?” I groaned seeing that I had two more hours and they were dragging completely. “I need a shot. I need like three shots. How do you do this everyday?” I looked over to Steven who was sitting at his cherry wood desk with papers stacked on top of it and important files banded in leather that he was flipping through.

He smiled innocently, “Because the desk part is boring, but I love it. I love learning about the law and people wanting me to help them; whether they broke it or not. It’s fun for me, just like fashion is fun for you.”

My eyes gazed over to where he was, “Touché. You got me there.” My nose scrunched up as I smiled over at him, then he went back to looking over his papers. I looked around the room and how the other lawyers decorated their desks. Steven worked closely with my dad. He was his right hand man, and they had a great track record together when it came to court cases. They were undefeated together. In my father’s eyes, Steven was always perfect for me. Even if he doesn’t want to admit it. Even if he liked Mike a whole lot. I knew why, thought. Steven was safe. He had a plan. He’d been working for this plan since he was a young boy.

Steven was really intelligent and came from a family of intelligent people as well. I think my dad just thought that he and I were going to for sure work out and we were going to get married and have kids and have the perfect life. But, I didn’t want that. Not with Steven, at least. Not then. I remember when I told my dad that I had broke up with him, he was more devastated than I was. And when Steven would be a dick to me, of course my dad wasn’t there to witness it. Because in his eyes, he will always be perfect little Steven and I was fine with that. He never pushed Steven on me and let me have my own experiences; I was thankful for that.

Not soon enough, it was five o’clock and I couldn’t wait to get the fuck out of here. My dad walked out of his office with a smirk on his face as he looked at me quickly grabbing my bag from under the desk and pushed in the chair. “You survived 16 whole hours here, I’m so proud of you.” He hugged my side and chuckled as I rolled my eyes.

“Yeah, I got paid for that, right?” I asked honestly, making my dad and Steven laugh loudly.
“Right?”

“Yes sweetheart, you got paid the $12 an hour that Allison gets paid. I’ll make sure that check goes out to you. Since you did me a huge favor this week.”

“As long as I got paid.” I smiled sweetly as I hung onto my bag as he gave me a kiss on my forehand and told me bye before he left along with everyone else who worked with him it seemed. I dug through my bag for my keys and noticed that Steven was staying around. “Are you staying here?” I asked curiously.

He looked up at me and nodded, “Yeah. I have some things I have to take care of.” His eyes then gazed back down at the stack of papers sitting on top of his desk.

“Alright, guess you don’t wanna go and have a couple of beers with me.” I smiled as I began to walk slowly toward the front door. “My treat.”

I turned back and saw him smile then nod, “Fine. Fine, I’ll go. Only because I think you need a coulee shots in you after the last two days you spent here.” He stood up, grabbing his black blazer from the back of his chair and shutting down his computer. “Let’s go.” He swung his keys on his finger as he held the door open for me to walk out; him locking the building after he left.

It was beer four or five and shot three or four that we had downed in between conversations when Steven had asked about Mike in his drunken state. "How's Mike doing? Like, his tour and stuff?"

I sipped on my beer with a smile, "He's doing great. I get to see him on Saturday. I'm so excited. It feels like it's been forever since I've seen him."

"Is he going to the party tomorrow?" He asked curiously, eyeing his beer as if it wasn't leveled or something.

I shook my head, "No, no. He's gonna be in San Diego!"

"Bonnie," Steven began quietly. "I've had a lot of fun with you tonight. Thank you. I really needed it."

A grin plastered across my face, "You're welcome. Thank you for being my Brews partner tonight. It's usually Nic."

"I'll always be your Brews partner." His white teeth showed themselves as his eyes met mine for what felt like the hundredth time tonight.

Nicole's POV:

I had driven two hours down to San Diego to see Cam and the Pierce the Veil guys at their hometown show. It was supposed to be a big one and we were all excited. It was a sold out show and everyone was here; except one person. Cam bombarded me as I was stepping out of the women's restroom, "Babe, where the hell is Bonnie?" His eyes were wide and he was whispering to me as if it were a big secret.

"Uh, I don't know. She ins't here yet? Hasn't Mike talked to her today?" I asked, curiously. Bonnie knew how much this show meant to Mike. I mean, it's his birthday for pete's sake. He even told me she promised she would be here. And even though Bonnie and I aren't on the greatest of terms right now, if there's one thing I know, it's that Bonnie always keeps her promises.

Mike came out of the PTV dressing room, his eyebrows furrowed. He walked up to me and asked carefully, "Nicole, do you know where Bonnie is?"

I shrugged, but decided to cover for her anyway. "She's probably on her way, Mike. Don't worry about it. I'll call her, okay? Just worry about your show and having fun tonight, it's our birthday dude."

He nodded then walked back into the dressing room, with Cam following behind. Okay, now I got to find Bonnie. Wherever the hell she's at.

Bonnie's POV:

It felt like an endless hallway that lead to the room where this Christmas party was being held. I'd been hungover all day and all I wanted was a whiskey coke, or champagne, or something to help ease the fatigue off of me. As I was walking, I passed this wall of mirrors so spotless, I had to double check if it was my vision or just how clean it was. I studied my outfit for the night and smoothed it over with my hands and then flipped my hair over my shoulders before the doorman smiled at me as he opened the doors to the ballroom. "Thank you." I nodded at the man dressed in a tuxedo and smiled sweetly.

The party inside was decorated elegantly and everyone attending was dressed just as well. I had managed to find my parents in the mess of black tuxedos and gorgeous gowns and went up behind them, lightly tapping them on the shoulders. "Hey guys." I smiled brightly as they both gave me kisses.

"Sweetheart, you look so amazing!" My mom hugged me for the second time.

"Thank you, mommy." I scanned the room and a man dressed in a black tuxedo with a cute little bow tie was walking up to me with a glass of champagne.

"Here. Time to level up the alcohol we had last night." He smirked handing it over to me.

I took two sips and then closed my eyes as the bubbles went down my throat. "Thank you. I kinda needed that." I smiled softly.

"Bonnie," He paused for a second as he admired my gold sequined dress. "You look absolutely perfect." A grin grew on his lips as his eyes matched eye level with mine.

"Why thank you, Steven. You're looking mighty handsome yourself." I complimented him back as we clinked our glasses together.

The night went on and after dinner I excused myself to the restroom so I could peacefully check my phone. I had about fifty missed calls from Nicole and ten texts from her, Cam, and Jaime.

I decided to call her back and see what the deal was. I hope it wasn't an emergency. "Nic, what's going on?" I asked the second she picked up.

"Where the fuck are you?!" She yelled into the phone sounding like she was stressed.

"I'm at my dad's Christmas party. Am I supposed to be somewhere else?" I was genuinely confused, I mean I had no other plans for today.

"Yeah, San Diego. It's Pierce the Veil's show. It's Mike's birthday!"

My heart sank to the floor and hit six feet beneath me. "No, no. Nicole, that's tomorrow. The 14th!"

"Bonnie. Bonnie, today is the 14th! Oh my god, you got your days confused."

"Oh my god, oh my god. Nicole, how pissed he is right now?" I slammed open the door and ran back into the ballroom, not even caring that people were staring at me running to my parents.

"Well, he's not speaking to anyone. And he has a mad face on."

"Fuck. Nic, can you please cover for me? Please please please." I pleaded with her.

"I've been covering for you. How do you expect to get here in time, Bon? The opening bands have already begun." She was trying to be reasonable, and that was typical Nicole. But, I didn't need Reasonable Nicole, I needed Sneaky As Fuck Nicole.

"I'm gonna fucking race over there, that's what I'm gonna do. Do you have a change of clothes? I'm in a fucking Badgley Michska gown and six-inch Loubs."

"Ooh, what color gown?" She asked and I cracked my first smile since she had called me.

"Gold sequin, it's fucking gorgeous. Hold on." I ran up to the table that my parents, dad's partners, and Steven were sitting at. "I'm sorry, but I have to go. Thanks for inviting me." I kissed my dad and mom on the cheek without any further explanation and ran out of the doors. "Okay, what's the fastest way to get to San Diego?" I said in the phone to Nicole once I hunted down the valet and followed him to my car.

Notes

OH NO. BONNIE FORGOT.
What do you think is gonna happen when she/if she confronts Mike? It's the biggest show of the tour and it's his birthday of all days. How many of y'all think he's gonna lose his shit when he sees her? And also, what about her and Steven getting closer and closer as the chapters move on? Any thoughts with that?

Thank you guys for reading and rating. I really appreciate it.

As always, leave your questions/ comments/ concerns.
