Curtains Close; Take a bow. I think we fooled all of them now.
Chapter 100 - They Lick Their Lips, As The Shame Pours Out Of Me
Oli's POV
I waited outside. The kids were in the back of the car, fast asleep. Anthony was crammed in between them, watching Sienna softly rest and occasionally expressing how excited he was to see Rain again.
"The kids don't know?" He said, watching my lips in the reflection of the center mirror.
"No." I smiled. It would be a nice surprise.
We drove up outside the center. I looked over the place, looking at how dreary it looked. It gave me chills. I could see a few people walking outside, looking sad and holding hands with eachother. They did not notice my car pulling up.
"Don't be sad if she doesn't come out." I said, breaking the silence between sleepy breaths. "She might not want to see us. She's only just settled in here."
We waited outside of the place for ten minutes. The secretary was sat in her office, and occasionally lifted the blinds up to peek out of the window. She seemed curious of our arrival. Eventually, she walked outside and questioned us. I told her I was taking Rain out for the day because it was her daughters birthday today. She nodded and walked back inside to return to her desk, warning us that we could only stay for another five minutes.
Out of the corner of my eye, just as I was taking the hand brake off the car, I saw her. She floated outside, her smile and her eyes revitalised. She looked beautiful, her hair combed and neatly running down her shoulders. She was wearing a beautiful dress that hung tightly to her tiny hips and then spread out down her legs. Her hands were gently tucked behind her back, and she was touching her dress nervously. As soon as she saw me, her eyes lit up. My heart skipped a beat. Her eyes hand't lit up like this since the first time we had been together.
She smiled. I smiled. She waved, and I waved right back at her. Her hair blew over the one side of her face and she gently wiped it back behind her ear before nervously looking back up at me with her huge eyes. Her skin was a fresh color and her cheeks were plumper than before. She looked so much better.
"Mommy!" Sienna shouted. I glanced back at the little girl, waving her arms around happily and crying with joy. I threw a look at Hanley who was smiling peacefully. He did not say a word, he just smiled. I hadn't seen him smile like this before. It was relieving.
She opened the car door, and I sank back into my chair, watching her shuffle into the passenger seat. She silently starred at me and then burst out crying. "Babies!" She called, collapsing her arms around me. I held her there for a few seconds, before letting go. Her eyes looked so happy. She looked straight back at Sienna and threw her arm back to touch hands. "Why are you crying baby?"
Sienna bubbled with joy. "This is the best birthday present ever!" She started giggling, tears still running down her cheeks.
We drove for a short amount of time, maybe only ten or so minutes. She wouldn't stop talking to the kids. Asking them what they have been doing and where they have been. She loved to hear them again. The little things were making her so happy.
When we arrived, I let her take it all in. Her mouth opened with shock. "Here?" She cried.
"Here." I replied, getting out of the car and watching her get out too. I grabbed onto her waist and lifted her up over my shoulder. She giggled. "What are you doing!?" She cried, laughing hysterically over my shoulder.
I said nothing to her, but replied with a bit of laughter. I carried her up to the edge of the cliff. The edge she took me to when I was so sad. I held onto her tightly and took her to the very edge. Watching the white chalky cliff face below us I smiled.
"I'm going to jump!" I yelled, holding onto her.
"Don't!" She yelled, suddenly panicked.
"Why not!?" I yelled back at her, leaning forwards over the edge. My hands trembled as I saw the bottom.
"Because you'd die!" She cried.
"What about you?" I asked her.
"I could fall. I could die...." She whispered. "But if you were to die, I would never be the same."
I smiled and slowly let go of her.
I looked her dead in the eyes and spoke to her. "And If I were to die, I wouldn't care. But if you were to die, I couldn't live with it." I smiled at her. "We are in this together Rain. Because this is what love feels like..."
She smiled at me and watched, hesitantly stepping back as I fell to one knee. She covered her mouth in shock and more tears streamed down her face. She jumped up and down trying to hold in her excitement.
"Would you marry me, Rain?" I cried to her, opening the ring box. A tear rolled down my cheek too, I admit. I took it out of the box and held it in front of her. She was in so much shock she could barely speak. She nodded to me and collapsed down onto her knees. I slide the ring onto her finger and kissed her.
We hadn't kissed like this in years. Sparks flew between us and I picked her up again stepping away from the edge and spinning her. The kids were yelling and clapping. They both ran towards us and grabbed onto our feet. Anthony was smiling, feeling so happy for both of us.
"Thankyou!" She finally said, laying her head back onto my shoulder. "I love you..."
I kissed her neck. "I love you too, Rain."
