Chapter 42 - We'll Stand Where Life Once Stood

Oli's POV

The sun was shining on my face through the open window. I could hear Rain singing to herself downstairs and the faint mumbles of Hanley drooling over her. I sat forward, feeling the lightness of my head return. I felt so much better, the medicine that the doctor prescribed really worked. The warm air and atmosphere hollered for me to finally go down stairs and steadily get my life back on track.

"Your eyes are swallowing me, mirrors start to whisper, shadows start to sing." Rain sung as she prepared Hanley a bottle of milk.

I crept up behind her quietly, Hanley quietly watching me from his highchair. "Good morning." I said, patting her on the shoulder.

She spun around, slightly embarrassed and covered her mouth. "I had no idea... Did you hear me singing?" She quickly pressured me.

"Yes, but it's alright. Your voice isn't so bad, you know." I mumbled to her whilst concentrating on Hanley who had his arms out reaching for me. "Come here little fella." I sighed, lifting him out of his chair and swinging him up over my shoulder. "Daddy missed you..."

Rain snapped back over me. "Oh, but my voice is terrible. I can't sing to save my life. I'm sorry." She stumped, walking over to me and handing me the bottle.

"No." I reassured her, taking the bottled and moving Hanley's head into the crook of my elbow. "Your voice is pretty."

She sighed at me. "How are you feeling?"

"Much better, thank you." I bluntly replied.

She smiled and slammed into me, forcing us into an awkward locked hug. "Oh! I'm so glad your felling better!" She said, swaying me gently but tightly in her mangled grip.

"Whoa." I said, pushing her back with my hand. "What are you doing?" I starred at her now, feeling slightly invaded.

She looked back at me like a deer in the headlights. "I just... I gave you a hug. In a friend sort of way." She said tipping back from me.

"Friends. That's all we are Rain." I stabbed, turning away from her now and coldly starring at the surrounding wall. "Thank you for taking care of me. But that doesn't mean it changed anything between us."

Quality read, I love this story so much, can you check out my new story please? I'd appreciate it and wanna collab

Anyone who is reading this, I'm actually the writer of this story, I just deleted my tumblr account that was linked to this a while ago. I wrote this years and years ago, and I think it's pretty poorly written at the start, so apologies lmao. But anyway, I made a new account, I'm older now so my writing has gotten better, I'm taking English as an A level too so everything is good. I'm in the process of writing something new, but I'm totally annoyed with the lack of views it's getting. It's got a kind of similar story involving drugs and pregnancy and stuff so check it out? <3 Its called "On The Vacant Canvas, We Should Be Waiting", and I've based some parts of the story ie. drugs and fights etc. on experiences that actually happened to me and my friends so it's quite a personal story, as I think it should be.

@SparklyRainbows
Thankyou so much, I've been really good lately, and I hope that you can be too, and I'm glad you're enjoying it :) You better stay awesome too, hun <3

I just want to let you know, I stated until 6:03 in the morning, reading the ever loving fuck out of this. This story is amazin . First of all, this story spans over years, not months or days like most storie . Second of all, I have a real connection with both Oli and Rain (which is one of the character names in my story, too!!!). I struggle with self harm, alcohol, and drug abuse, and this chapter really connected with me especially. Whatever you're going through, I've never met you, but I believe in you. I'm proud that you're five (or more) days sober, and you definitely better keep it up. You're a strong person, and it's really awesome that you're doing good and writing an amazing story while you're at. Stay beautiful my lovely creature!!

I really felt the connection in this chapter with the Alcohol abuse. I really liked this update, a lot x
