Leilani's POV:

I sat against the bare brick walls on the prison as my head rested against the cold iron bars that locked me away from the rest of the world. I'd been in here for hours constantly going in and out of interrogation rooms as I was interviewed one million times. I had swab samples taken from me and my clothes were replaced with grey scrub like pyjamas. I sat patiently waiting for the results to determine if I was going back, if they'd believed Bryce's lie.

"Miss Bennett?" I looked up to the officer on the other side of the bars, "we need to ask you a few more questions," he informed me.

"More?" he nodded.

"It's about the rape kit results," I sighed and nodded. I lifted myself from the floor and waited for the officer to open the gate. I followed him to the same room I'd been in before. The white walls surrounded me making me feel slightly claustrophobic and the cool of the air conditioner sent a shiver down my spine. I heard the camera click over and the microphone light beeped red signalling that the interview was about to start and they were obviously going to record it all. Sargent Steinbeck, the officer with whom arrested me at the hotel, sat down across from me at the table and sighed heavily.

"Leilani when we asked for your statement you said that Mr. Taylor tried to rape you and he was unsuccessful because you defended yourself and ran?" he said it more like a question rather than a statement and I simply nodded in response. "You're lying," he sternly retorted.

"So? It's nothing I can't deal with. It's happened before and now it's happened again, I'll be fine," I rambled.

"You also said the blood was his, it's yours Leilani. That gash on your stomach is pretty big, what did he do? Why did you withhold the information from us?" his husky voice filled the room.

"He had a knife to take my clothes off, guess he takes after Cole," I sighed and looked down at the table before shooting my eyes back up, "Look he's just angry that I left him because he cheated but he's engaged to Cass now I didn't want to ruin his life with her," he shook his head at me.

"I don't understand you. You get raped and thrown in a cell and you're the calmest person in the world. How do you do it?" I shrugged my shoulders. "You can put him away if you testify against him, we have the evidence, we can get statements from your friends who will back you up," he explained.

"My friends can't make statements," I huffed.

"They said they would?" he quizzed.

"They said they would but they'd tell you a different account from my story because I didn't tell them I was raped. I didn't want all this to happen. I wanted to carry on with my life as normal as possible. I Figured they'd leave me alone if I said nothing happened and they did. So they can't make a statement because they'd be lying," he threw his head into his heads on the table and groaned.

"You don't make this easy," he sighed, "Look, you make a statement we show the results of the rape kit in court it's enough to get him behind bars and stopping him from attacking you again for at least fifteen years after that we get you protection and we monitor him and he still wont get to you," he interpreted. I nodded.

"I'll make the statement on one condition," he lifted his brows and waved his hands as if to tell me to continue on, "There is to be no media involved whatsoever and I don't want to be at the court case. You can make up some bullshit story about me not wanting to be near my attacker, I don't know," he nodded.

"We can arrange that," he restarted the recording and I made my statement to testify against Bryce. I was given my clothes back and released. I stood out the front of the station in the middle of Sydney as the sound of cars rushing and birds chirping flowed around my existence and smiled at the thought of being able to enjoy the simple things once again.

"You could walk," I talked to myself and the argued in my mind against why I shouldn't walk. I don't know the way, there's too much traffic. I sighed knowing my only option was to call a friend but that option still left me conflicted. I wasn't in the mood to see Austin so if I called any of the guys or Tarni, I'd still have to see him and I wasn't in the mood to question him about 'love' after the day I've had. Not to mention I was slightly angry at all them for not following me to the station like they said they would, leaving me to tackle this situation all alone. I pulled out my phone and opened my contacts and clicked 'call' on the only reasonable option I had. The phone nearly rang out but the other end quickly answered in time before I hung up.

"Lani?" the husky voice sounded through the speaker causing a smile to creep up on my face. I hummed in response, "Do you need a lift? I can come get you, I know where to go?" he pried.

"That'd be nice," I acknowledged.

"Okay sit tight I'm on my way and maybe we could grab lunch on the way back?" his hope made me smile, it was cute.

"Sounds good," I heard him smirk through the phone, "And Mike?" I caught him before he hung up.

"Yeah?" he wondered.

"I wont run away this time," I flirted before hanging up somewhat pleased with myself for being such a tease.
