Forgive Me- Part 3

Amelia's POV

I'm kind of worried about picking up the kids today, actually I have been for the past few days, Jaime knows that I'll be there every afternoon to pick up the kids and I'm scared of having another confrontation like the other day. I don't know if I could handle that again. Seeing him alone was a shock enough, but the things he said, how far he went to find us... Am I really such a bad person that I won't even call him? Can I bring myself to call him?

I have to. I know that, I can't just keep him shut out because he won't be this tolerant forever. Soon enough he'll show up at the school again and when that happens I doubt he'll leave without answers. I should really get it over and done with.

With a deep sigh I walk over and grab my phone off the kitchen counter. Should I ask him to come over this afternoon? No, I'm going to be late from work today. Speaking of, I need to call Meg and get her to pick up the kids. Wait. Should I? Surely he could handle that couldn't he? I mean, he just needs to watch them and make sure they don't kill each other or themselves. It's not too difficult. Oh bloody hell, I may as well.

"Hello?" Jaime's voice rings clearly through the phone. I can hear other voices too; from the sound of it they're probably playing Xbox or something.

"Ahh," I clear my throat "Jaime! It's Milly..."

"Milly? Hang on..." He sounds shocked then I hear a bustle of voices raise and begin asking questions. "Shut up!" Jaime called away from the phone. There was some rustling as if he fumbled the phone and then there was silence. "Hey. Sorry about that. What's up?"

I smile as I hear the nerves in his voice. It was easy to tell he was trying to cover it up and I found it a bit cute that he was trying to act indifferent.

"Umm, well I need a favour" I said

"Sure anything!" He answered quickly.

"Okay, well in going to be stuck at work late today and I figured that rather than paying a babysitter to go and get them an-"

"Yes!!" He said. I could almost hear him bouncing.

"Are you sure? It can be tough work"

"I'll manage"

"Okay, so you know when they need to be picked up right?"

"Yea I know"

"Okay well, umm could you take them back to your house? I'll come pick them up at about 7"

"What time and what do they need to eat?"

"Umm some crackers and cheese or some fruit after school, and you can treat them to Maccas for dinner if you want."

"Can I take them to the zoo?"

"Seriously?" I chuckle "go ahead; just don't give Casey any cordial or too much sugar because otherwise she won't sleep tonight"

"Okay!" God I can feel his energy through the phone

"Thanks Himes"

"Any time Mil. Thanks for trusting me with this. I was worried that you'd never call"

"Honestly I didn't know if I would but I figured now that you know where they go to school eventually you'd just kidnap them"

"Yea I considered it" he joked.

I said thanks again then hung up. I let out a huge breath of relief that it was over. Okay, it's done, no going back now. I sigh as I lean back into my chair, relishing the few moments between clients. I hope the kids will be okay with this. I kind of just sprung it on them. Will they be angry? Excited? What if something goes wrong? Shit! I didn't even give Jaime my number!

I quickly pull out my phone again and open messaging

To Jaime: hey, it's Milly. I just realised you didn't have my number. EMERGENCIES ONLY! :) thanks again.

I put my phone away expecting his reply to take away but the second it was locked in the draw I heard it vibrate. God that was quick.

From Jaime: yea I was just thinking about that. And it's okay :) can I be your official babysitter from now on?

I smile at his text

To Jaime: only if you're good

From Jaime: I'm always good!

I chuckle again when I read it but am interrupted by and email informing me of my next client. I lock my phone away again and pull out the note from my previous session before asking reception to send them through.

Hello everyone!!!

so I know it's been almost a month since I last updated and that is a terrible effort on my part but in my dfence i was freaking out over exams and getting back my results but all that is over now so updates should be more regular from now on! (Hopefully)

I am so sorry about how crappily I've been doing lately but I'm going to try and lift my game for you guys :D

also this chapter is really short because I want to change POV and don't like doing that in the same chapter unless both POV's are less than 500 words so...


anyway... I love you all and please keep leaving me comments and nice messages because they really do motivate me to write.
