Stay Away From My Friends

“VIIIIIIIIC! VIC, VIC, VIC, VIC, VIC!” I shouted through the student-filled hallways. People were giving me dirty looks because it was eight in the morning but I didn’t care. I had news!

“What!”

“Omg I had the best day yesterday!” I said excitedly.

“Really? How?” he looked kind of mad but I guess it was because I was being loud.
“I went to the park and then Sergio was there and we talked and then we went to Starbucks and then, omg, we kissed!” he just looked at me with complete shock, pain and anger. “What? Aren’t you happy for me? You know how much I like him and we kissed!”

“So you kicked me out of your house so you could go on a date with him? I wanted to sort everything out with you and you completely ignore me so you can go whoring around with the new kid? You’re an asshole Kellin. I don’t even know why I thought I’d like you. All you do is sleep around and mess with people’s feelings.” It looked like he was going to say more but then the bell rang. “We gotta go to class. Don’t sit next to me; sit with your new best friend.” And with that, he left. He left while I was there on the verge of tears.

I just stood there and let his words sink in, he insulted me and he was supposed to be my best friend. I let the tears fall freely as I leaned against the lockers. I let myself slide down to the floor and pulled my knees close to me. After a few minutes, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me and I buried my face in his crook of the neck. I never noticed how good he smelled.

“What happened with you and Vic? I asked him where you were and he just gave me a glare and sat down.”

“I don’t know. I told him about what happened yesterday and then he was saying how I kicked him outta my house so I could go on a date with you and that I whore around and that I mess with people’s feelings. He told me that he didn’t even know why he thought he’d like me.” I said through the tears. “Vic is my rock. I may not have let him in but I don’t let anyone in. I always felt safe around him and now he doesn’t want anything to do with me because he thinks we’re a thing.”

“Do you regret kissing me?”

“No, I liked it and I like you but I also like Vic and we’ve also kissed before.”

“Damn Kellin, I think you have a thing for kissing your friends.” I couldn’t help but smile and laugh a bit. “There’s that smile I love.” He kissed my forehead and helped me stand up. “Let’s go to the bathroom and clean you up then we can go to class.” I nodded as we made our way to the bathroom. We were holding hands!

“Don’t look at me when I blow my nose.”

“Why?”

“That’s unattractive.”

“You cried on my shoulder and had boogers running down your face.”

“Shut up.” I said as I playfully shoved him. I had my back towards him as I stood in one of the stalls to blow my nose. When that was done, I went to the sink and washed my face.

“Do you feel better?” Sergio asked as he walked behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist. I nodded as I looked at our reflection to notice that he staring at me through the mirror. “I think we look cute like this.” He mumbled as he pecked my cheek.

“I think so too.” I turned around so I could face him and he leaned down to kiss me. I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed him back. I heard the door open and I looked over, I saw Vic standing there, glaring. “Vic!” I called out but he was already out the door.

I looked back at Sergio and he gave me a peck before talking. “Go after him. Your friendship is more important right now.” With one more peck, I was out the door running after Vic.

“Vic!” I called out. He kept walking but I finally caught up to him and grabbed his arm only to have him pull it away.

“What do you want?” he said with his back towards me.

“Look at me.” I pleaded. After a few seconds, he finally did and I saw the tears running down his face.

“I was fucking confused about how I felt towards you but now that I saw you with that guy I know where you stand.” He said through gridded teeth. “You can’t have both of us and you need to pick one. Stop messing with our feelings.”

“I’m not messing with anyone’s feelings. I’m not the one that kissed you because I felt bad for you. You have a girlfriend and you kissed me, so if anyone’s messing with feelings, it’s you. I’m at least single and so is Sergio.” I did a few deep breaths in order to calm myself down because nothing is solved through anger. “Look, we both have feelings for each other but we won’t do anything about it. I still want to be your best friend because even though I don’t let you in, you have been there for me more than anyone else has. You stay with Carol and I’ll see what happens with Sergio.” I looked into his eyes and all I saw was sadness so I gave him a peck on the cheek. “Are we good now?”

“Yeah, I just … I want you but I can’t break up with Carolina because she’s fucking pregnant and it’s mine.” I don’t know about that but I don’t know what to tell him. “If you want to date Sergio, you can. I don’t own you and even though it might piss me off, I want you to be happy. Besides, what kind of bff would I be if I can’t make fun of you for having sex?” we were laughing when the bell rang.

“Damn, I really need to stop skipping class.” I said through the laughter. The rest of the day passes with Vic acting stupid and me trying not to die of laughter during lessons, and then Sergio kept texting and smiling at me when we passed each other in the hallways.

Lunchtime, the only time school is loved and cherished. I sat with Vic, Mike, Tony, Jaime and of course, Carol had to be there. Fucking ugly ass cow bitch. I see the way she’s eyeing Mike and he was just squirming there uncomfortably.

“So, are you guys going to Justin’s party?” I asked. I’m not that terrible; I wanted to save Mike who looked at me gratefully when I got everyone’s attention.

“Uh … duh! His parties are cool dude!” Vic said with a mouthful of Mickey-D’s.

“Ew babe! Eat with your mouth closed.” Carol said with disgust. So me being me, I took a bite of my Big Mac and began talking.

“UHMUHOD! UH LUH YHU OO MUH VII!”

“UH LUH YHU EW LL-ELIN!”

“You guys are so gross! I’m out of here.” I swallowed my food and shouted a bye to receive a finger in my direction.

“Dude, how can you date her?” Jaime asked as I got a message from Sergio asking if he could sit with us.

“Hey, do you guys mind if Sergio sits with us?” I mainly asked Vic but everyone answered, saying it was okay. “Vic?”

“Yeah, any friend of yours is a friend of mine.” He said with a smile. I replied with an of course and a few minutes later he plopped next to me.

“Hey.”

“Hey, you’re in my space class. Sergio right?” Jaime asked.

“Yeah. Hi-Me right?” he asked with his dazzling smile.

“Yeah. By the way, this is Tony.” He said signaling towards Tony. “He’s out little shy turtle. And that wanna be cholo over there is Mike and I’m guessing you met Vic.”

“Hey, nice to meet you guys.” They all replied hey back and began talking. “So anything I missed?”

“No. Not really, unless you haven’t heard about Justin Hill’s party.” Mike said. He can hear for miles, I swear.

“No I have not heard of that.” He and Mike began talking about the party when Vic texted me.

- From Sexican : I hate that he can be so fucking social but I like him too … I might try to steal him lol cx

- To Sexican : STAY AWAY FROM MY MAN CANDY YOU SLUT ! <3 HE MINE’S &’ ALL MINE’S ! Lol love you sweetie

I like that Vic is warming up to Sergio very quickly and that he can joke about him stealing him from me. The guys seemed to warm up to him too. The rest of the day passed in a blur and next thing I knew, I was at home, texting Sergio about anything and everything. I haven’t seen my dad yet but knowing him, he’s probably out getting drunk or something.

- From Sergio : What did you do to Vic that made him like me ?

- To Sergio : Nosey much? Lol jkjk but don’t worry about it. As long as he likes you, everything will be ok. I’m gonna go to sleep so I’ll message you at five a.m. to annoy you lol

- From Sergio : Not unless I message you at 4:59 a.m. lol or nah, that’s to fucking early but goodnight beautiful. You stay being bae <3 &’ don’t reply, I want you to get some rest.

He’s such a dork but it’s cute. I followed his directions and didn’t reply but went to sleep with a smile on my face.
