Darling, you'll be okay

A realization hit me. Today is May 17. That means tomorrow is the one year anniversary of Katrina's death.

"Hey Tristan?"

"Yes sweetheart?"

"Would you like to spend time together tomorrow?" Maybe I could distract him and keep his mind off of her so he won't be sad.

"I'd love nothing more," he said with a smile. I don't think he realizes it yet...

His expression became suddenly cloudy. Shit. He remembers.

"Would you mind if I uh, made a trip to Katrina's grave tomorrow? I need to put roses on it. It may take a few hours, but I promise you the afternoon is yours." His face looked ashen.

"That's fine, sweetheart," I said. He needs to take time to himself, maybe it will help him get over her.

"You're the best," he said, kissing my forehead softly, causing a blush to well up on my cheeks.

Tristan seemed distant, his mind no doubt going over and over images of him and Katrina. He spaced out for several minutes at a time.

When I got home, my step dad interrogated me, but my mom asked him to give me a break. I went to my room and there, on my bed was a note from Tristan. How did he manage that? I just left his house.

Look under your pillow. ~Tristan

I lifted the pillow and underneath was a box of chocolates along with another jewelry box. I grinned ear to ear, he is the sweetest.

I opened the box, and inside was a charm bracelet with a heart, a star, an infinity sign, and a special one that had the date we met carved into it. A note was folded in the box and he had written the meaning of each charm.

The heart- this shows how you have my heart and as long as you wear this bracelet, it will stay with you.
The star- you are the brightest girl I've ever met, and the star of my life. You outshine everyone else.
The infinity sign- I want to be with you forever, Lena. I love you.
The date we met- the day my world became brighter and changed forever. The day I met the girl of my dreams.

I gently clasped the charm bracelet on and slip my fingers gently across the necklace he had given me. I felt a genuine smile cross my face.

I climbed into bed, holding my pillow tightly, imagining it as Tristan and drifted to sleep with a smile on my lips.
