Darling, you'll be okay

For days it rained. I saw it as tears from the heavens. Heaven knows of all the hurt and pain that surrounds the world. Heaven knows of the scars engraved into my skin.

I saw a flash of lighting from the classroom window. The sky protested the evil in the world.

Days like this drug on. Classmates at school acted moodier and twice as immature when the skies were gray. They teachers even caught the bad-mood virus.

"Hey emo freak, why don't you stop all the voodoo shit so it'll stop raining?" Broderick questioned. He's an annoying senior, 20 years old, and still flunking high school. He's going places in life.

"Leave her the fuck alone." I heard a voice say, before I could respond. His name was Tristan, I had heard, and he had just transferred here from Texas. He wore a long-sleeve black hoodie with a "Pierce the Veil" logo, skinny jeans and vans. Damn. He was cute.

"Woah, we got a bad ass," Broderick mocked. He grinned his usual uneducated grin. He expected to one-up every opponent because of his broad shoulders and tall frame. He was large, and it frightened people. But he was not smart, or fast.

What Tristan did next was unexpected. He walked right up to Broderick with full confidence, even though he was at least a foot shorter, and said,"Wanna say that to my face?"

I'm guessing Broderick was not accustomed to being challenged, because he backed up and said,"I'll let you off with a warning, but you'd better keep your little gothic girlfriend in line."

That was it. Tristan snapped. He jumped on Broderick, bringing the giant to his knees. By the time teachers pulled him off, Broderick had already received a bruised eye, swollen tight, and a bloody lip.

Both guys received a week's worth of in-school suspension.

As they were escorted from the scene, Tristan turned to me, smiling a million-dollar smile, and he winked.

Holy Fuck.
