The past never changes

Kathy and I entered the school building.
We got looks as always, but today something was off, Cindy wasn't around.
I was kind of relieved she wasn't around to greet us, but i was also kind of curious why in the three years I've known her she isn't here to pick on me.

Kathy and I turned the corner to where our first class was.
"I'll be there in aminute, I need to go to the bathroom" I told Kathy walking towards the restrooms, "ok, be back before the bell" she yelled loud enough for me to hear,
In fact I think everybody in school heard her announcement.

I opened the girl's bathroom door and walked inside, I walked to the stalls and heard a small whimper.
I walk over to the stall i heard crying from, "are you ok?" I whispered knocking on the door, "go away!" The voice yelled beginning to sob again.
Wait, was that Cindy's voice I heard?.

I pushed on the door a little to see if it would open, luckily it did.
I pushed it completely open to reveal a crying Cindy smith, I gasped at the sight,
her thighs were covered in fresh cuts.

she just continued to cry.
I took the razorblade from her hand and threw it in the trash, I then got some toilet paper and lightly wiped away the blood that had covered her thighs, the blood was already drying so I then pulled some baby wipes out of my backpack and wiped it all away, I pulled out some bandages and wrapped them around her skinny legs.

It didn't phase me that her pants were pulled down, I guess I was just programmed to fix at at moment.
As I finished wrapping her legs i stood up and backed away so she could pull her pants up, I then helped her up.

"why did you do that?" She asked wiping away tears, "do what?" I asked,
"Why did you help me?, you could've just left me and told everybody but you didn't"
"I couldn't just leave you like that" I said walking to the sinks,
"Why not?, I am always so mean to you, and your nothing but kind to me"
She said standing in front of me, "nobody deserves to just be thrown away, they need love and care, not everyone is perfect" I said hugging her, it was weird, but it felt like the right thing to do.

I pulled away, "how about we skip today and go watch movies and eat popcorn"
I said smiling, "really?" She asked with a smile sprouting across her face,
"Sure, and tonight I'll introduce you to some special friends of mine" I said grabbing her arm.

Before ditching I texted Kathy

MONDAY 8:01 AM, TO KATHY
Hey I'm skipping today with a new friend, I'll talk to you later.

What your skipping school with a stranger and not your best friend?!?

MONDAY 8:03 AM TO KATHY
Sorry you have been replaced.

I replied jokingly

No one can replace me. Time for class ttyl

I put my phone in my bag as the school bell rang, "let's go before someone catches us" I say pulling Cindy out of the bathroom, we run out of the school,
I then remember that I didn't have a ride, "we can ride in my car" Cindy said pulling my arm, we soon walked up to this royal blue mustang, "this is your car?" I say staring at it, "yeah, get in" she said jumping in the driver's side, I jumped in and buckled up,
"Do you know where I live?" I ask looking back at Cindy, "yeah you don't live too far from me" she said starting the car.
Then we were on our way.

We hung out most of the day watching Movies and talking about what we'll do when we graduate, we got to know each other a lot, she is actually a really nice person.
