The past never changes

I walked into Starbucks I got to the cashier,
"Hi, what would you like today sir?" The perky blonde lady asked,
"Can I get a black coffee please?" I asked forcing a smile,
"Sure, your number is 57" she said handing me a paper with the number 57 on it.
I took it and headed towards the table Mel and I had met.
I sat down and unlocked my phone,I had just recieved a text from Mel.


THURSDAY, 8:57 AM FROM MEL
"Hey, are you awake yet?"


THURSDAY, 8:59 AM TO MEL
"Yeah babe, I'm at Starbucks getting coffee, what's up?"


THURSDAY, 9:00 AM FROM MEL
"Nothing just checking to see if you were alright"


THURSDAY, 9:01 AM TO MEL
"Oh, yeah I'm fine love, what about you? How are you feeling?"


THURSDAY, 9:03 AM FROM MEL
"I'm feeling much better thanks <3, are you sure your ok Vic?"


I sat there for a second unsure what to tell her.


THURSDAY, 9:06 AM TO MEL
"Yeah I'm fine just a little sleepy"


I sent hoping she would believe my lie.
I hated lying to her like that but I just couldn't tell her anything or she might get upset and hurt herself again.


THURSDAY, 9:08 AM FROM MEL
"ok Vic , I guess I'll see you when I get out of the hospital tonight?"


THURSDAY, 9:09 AM TO MEL
"Yeah definitely, I'll talk to you later, I love you"


THURSDAY, 9:10 AM FROM MEL
"I love you too, bye"


I locked my phone and put it on the table.
"Number 57" the cashier called out,
I walked up to the counter, "here you go sir" she said handing me the coffee,
I paid her and went back to my table.

After I got finished with my coffee I walked back to the tour bus.
There was a note on the door that said
"Went out to get breakfast, be back soon with food"
I pulled down the paper and walked into the empty bus.

I lied down on the couch kicking my shoes off, I decided to take a nap for just a little while.
