There's No Such Thing As Too Young

Twenty Nine

*Mike's POV*

Millie's eyes clouded over as she crumbled into my arms, her body going limp.

I knew there was something wrong with her before we left!

"Millie? Millie? Mom!" I yelled, my heart beating erratically as my girlfriend lay unconcious in my arms.

I brushed her hair back and her skin was a sickly pale colour.

"What on earth is going on?" Mom asked, wiping her hands on a tea towel as she entered the hallway from the kitchen.

She gasped as she saw Millie, rushing over to me.

"What happened?" She asked, her eyes filled with worry.

"She went all funny and then just passed out!" I exclaimed, lifting her into my arms as I tapped her cheek to see if I could get some sort of response.

"Did her head hit the floor?" Mom asked.

We were soon joined by my Dad, who crouched down next to us.

"No, I caught her before she could touch the floor."

"Millie, sweetheart, can you hear me?" Mom asked, brushing her fingers against her cheek.

Millie made a small noise, rolling her head to the side weakly.

"Do we need to take her to hospital?" Dad wondered, his hand on my shoulder.

"I don't think so, but we need to keep an eye on her. She might have just got abit overheated and fainted, I think you should go and lay her down in your room." Mom told me, looking down at Millie as her eyelids lazyily flickered.

I nodded and hoisted Millie into my arms as I stood up.

Her body was still limp against me.

I carried her up the stairs, with Mom following me.

She opened the door to my childhood room.

It was still the same, the only thing's that had changed was the bedding and curtains.

Mom pulled the fresh, crisp covers back for me and I placed Millie in the bed.

I pulled off her boots and placed them next to the bed, then proceeding to tuck Millie in as she still remained half concious.

I placed a kiss on her forehead and she hummed, her body hardly moving.

I was going to stay with her, but Mom called for me from outside the room.

I sighed, sitting up as I glanced back at Millie with concern.

Why did she suddenly pass out?

I met Mom outside the door, leaning against the frame so I could keep an eye on Millie just incase.

Mom crossed her arms across her petite body, staring at me.

I shifted uncomfortably.

"Does Millie have an eating disorder?" Mom asked bluntly.

Mom was always straight to the point.

"Ssh! No!" I whispered, glancing back into my room to see if Millie had heard.

"You can tell me, Michael. I'm here to help you, the both of you. I saw Millie at dinner, I saw the look of terror when that meal was placed infront of her. She's very skinny too, abit too skinny. So tell me, does she struggle with her eating?"

I couldn't lie to my Mom.

"Yes, she does." I sighed, and Mom did too.

"You need to get her help, Michael. She's depriving her body of the nutrients it needs to function, that's probably why she fainted." Mom accused.

"She didn't pass out from not eating, Mom. I made her a sandwich earlier, she ate that."

"Maybe so. Is she pregnant?"

"No, she's not pregnant!" I exclaimed quietly, and Mom tutted.

"I fainted when I was pregnant with Vic, I was always feeling dizzy." Mom informed me, shrugging.

"She's definately not pregnant, Mom. I use a condom everytime we have sex, she'd be throwing up too." I pointed out

"Condoms aren't always effective and not every girl gets morning sickness." Mom threw back at me, causing me to groan quietly.

I felt like I was Fourteen again, when Mom gave me 'the talk' and had given me my first box of condoms.

"Stop it, Mom. I'm going to sit with Millie, don't say anything to her." I hissed, not meaning for my words to be so unkind.

I was just worried about Millie getting upset.

Maybe she fainted because she overworked herself and got herself all flustered over dinner.

Mom shook her head and remained in the the doorway.

I lay down gently beside Millie, and she instantly cuddled upto me.

She whimpered quietly and I tightened my grip on her.

"Mike." She whimpered, stirring.

She jolted and gasped, her eyes shooting open as a few stray tears rolled down her cheeks.

Sheer panic spread across her face.

"Alright, sweetheart. Calm down, I'm here." I soothed, stroking her hair as she shook.

Mom came in to join me and perched on the side of the bed, here to help me with Millie.

We shot eachother a look and I mouthed 'don't' to her.

I couldn't afford for her to say anything to Millie.

The situation couldn't get worse.

Especially if Millie had passed out from lack of nutrients or if she was pregnant...

I was sure she wasn't, but part of me was doubting my strong opinion.

"I don't remember what happened." Millie gasped, clutching my jumper tightly.

"You fainted after dinner, honey." Mom answered for me, rubbing Millie's leg.

"Yeah, you did, do you know why?" I asked her.

"No." She shook her head.

"Are you feeling alright now? Are you dizzy? Drowsy? Feeling sick?" I inquired.

"Erm, I feel abit sick but it's probably from shock. How long was I out?"

"Not long, only around Twenty minutes." I notified her, touching her cheekbone with my long fingers.

I pondered over my thoughts and continued stroking her cheek to soothe her incase her body went into overdrive and she passed out again.

"I think it's best if you Two stay here tonight, just as a precautionary measure. You have Victor, Mike and I here to help you, just to make sure you don't faint again, Millie." Mom voiced, speaking softly asif she knew Millie didn't like confrontation.

Millie processed what she was saying before nodding slowly.

Millie's eyes were drooping as she fought sleep.

The shock had overwhelmed her and tired her out.

"Get some sleep, darling." I instructed, not wanting to keep her awake when she was exhausted.

I was suprised she was taking all of this so easily.

Millie gripped onto me tighter as I tried to lay her down.

"I'll come up soon, I just need to phone Vic and let him know what's happened." I assured her, tucking her hair behind her ears as I eased myself off the bed.

Millie nodded unsurely and let her eyes drift shut.

I walked out of my old room with Mom following me, and I shut the door behind us.

Once alone and out of hearing range, Mom asked me the question I was dreading.

"What aren't you telling me?" She questioned softly, taking my large hand in hers.

"I hate keeping things from you, Mom. But, I promise I'll tell you when the time is right." I vowed, pulling her into a tight hug.

I didn't know how much longer I could keep Millie's age from her.
