I Never Meant To Be Your Pain

American Girl

Tony’s POV-
I woke up and looked down to Ava who was cuddled into my chest, her hand lightly grasping onto the elastic band of my pajama bottoms. Little flecks of mascara laid underneath her eyes from crying last night. I ran my thumb over her bottom lip and kissed her cheek before slowly getting out of bed. I laid my blanket over her to make sure she wouldn’t get cold and left the door open a little bit so she wouldn’t wake up from the noise downstairs. I made my way down to the kitchen to see Leith cooking breakfast.
“Morning Perry,” he mumbled not turning from the stove.
“Morning.”
“So I see Ava slept over last night…” he trailed off.
“Yep,” I opened the fridge and grabbed out some Monster.
“Did you get it in?” I rolled my eyes.
“We’re not together.”
“No need to be together. It that was the case I’d have hundreds of girlfriends,” he paused, “Maybe even a thousand,” he smirked.
“Good for you, you deserve the Dirt Bag of the Year Award,” I glared. “Congrats.”
“You know maybe if you weren’t so cocky I’d be fonder of you.”
“You think I actually give a fuck if you like me or not?” I growled, laughing a bit, “think again.”
“Damn! I think someone needs to get laid. You’re a little grumpy over here.”
“Why did you start this stupid bet with me anyways?”
“Just so I could see you lose,” he said nonchalantly. “And so I get a little piece of that fine ass.”
“What do women see in you?” I muttered.
“It’s not about what they see in me, it’s about what they see in them,” he chuckled, turning off the stove. “Just don’t forget about our rules. You get her first and you can keep her. I get her first and I can keep her.”
“Whatever.”

Ava’s POV-
I woke up and rolled over to see the big metal K that sat on Tony’s bedside table. I remember the night he and the rest of the guys won it at the Kerrang Awards. I’d never seen Tony happier in his life. I smiled to myself and snuggled up in his sheets, feeling as if I was going to fall back asleep. I knew that I should probably get up and dressed to head to work but after last night, the last thing I wanted to do was see my brother. I groaned and threw a pillow at the door, letting it fall to the floor before getting up. I slid into my favorite pair of shorts and found one of Tony’s tee shirts laying in his laundry basket. He had worn it the night before, so it wasn’t too dirty. Plus it smelled like him, so I could see past the fact that it had been laying in his dirty laundry for the night. I arched my back, letting it pop, before walking down the hallway to the kitchen. No one seemed to be home, so I went about my daily routine, making a little breakfast before leaving. My eye caught a little piece of paper that stuck to the fridge.
Ave,
Had to meet the guys at the studio for some practice. Hope you slept well. Left my keys on the table… Dinner later? Call me. Love always, Tony xoxo

I smiled and stuck the note in my pocket so I wouldn’t forget to call him about dinner. I grabbed a granola bar from the pantry along with his car keys, heading for the door. Pulling my phone from my back pocket, I dialed Tony’s number, letting it ring for a bit.
“Good morning Ave.” I could hear Jaime in the background belting some notes out on his guitar.
“Morning,” I smiled. “Thanks for leaving me your car. I forgot mine was still at work. Who got you to practice?”
“Mike and Vic picked me up. No worries. Did you leave the house yet?”
“Yeah, just a few minutes ago.” I heard him sigh as if he was relieved. “Why?”
“Nothing in particular… I just don’t like you being home alone.”
“I’m a big girl Tone. I know how to punch if someone ever tried to kidnap me.” He laughed.
“I know, I know…” he chuckled. “I just get worried about you.” I blushed a bit, feeling something in my stomach grow warmer.
“Oh you,” I shook my head.
“Ava! Leave Tony alone. We’re trying to work here and you’re distracting him, my little American girl!” Vic yelled in his Mexican voice.
“Okay, okay! Take care of my turtle Victor!” I shouted. Tony laughed.
“Drive safe, okay?” he asked.
“Okay,” I smiled. “Play safe.”
“You bet. Bye.” I hung up and dropped my phone in my lap, pulling into the parking spot that had my name spray painted on it. It didn’t seem as if Gabriel’s car was here yet. Maybe he wouldn’t come today.
