I Never Meant To Be Your Pain

Ava’s POV-
I opened my eyes and immediately felt like puking up my guts. I replayed last night in my head, not remembering much. I only had two drinks so it wasn’t like I got drunk. If I wasn’t drunk, then what the hell happened? My stomach twisted in knots as a thought ran through my mind. Was I drugged? I was sure I didn’t take anything last night before leaving with Tony. I sat up and looked around. Was I raped? It became hard to breathe as I came undone and started to panic. How did I get home? Who drove me? Did Tony let me go home with a stranger? My breathing hitched as I realized how sore I was. Where was Tony? Did he know about all of this? My bedroom door opened as a shirtless Tony stepped in with a smile.
“Good morning, Ave.” He studied my face and frowned. “What’s wrong?” I looked up to him, trying my best to recall the night.
“What happened last night, Tony?” He sat down next to me on the end of my bed and sighed.
“Do you not remember?” he joked, nudging my ribs.
“It isn’t funny… I can’t remember a thing.” He sighed.
“Relax… Someone put something in your drink while we were out.”
“Well… I didn’t wander off with anyone, right?” He chuckled.
“Yeah, I just let you leave with a random guy even though I knew you were drugged.”
“That’s not funny,” I muttered.
“Come on now, you know I would never let you do that.”
“Do you know who did it?” I glanced at him and he frowned.
“No. But there’s nothing to worry about. I only left you once and you were with Jaime.” I put my head in my hands, feeling a head ache coming on.
“I didn’t do anything stupid right?”
“Define stupid… you do stupid things on a daily basis,” he squinted at me. I lightly punched his arm and laughed.
“Shut up!”
“What?” he asked, now chuckling. “I’m being serious here!”
“Serious my ass!” I hit him once more, causing him to rub his chest.
“Ow, that one hurt,” he whined.
“Good!” He laughed. “But, unfortunately you didn’t do anything stupid like dance on a table or take off all of your clothes in the street.” My eyes widened as my cheeks grew red.
“Tony!”
“What? It’s not my fault you go super drunk and did some stupid shit.”
“It was one time!”
“Everything’s always one time with you,” he pointed out laughing.
“Cuz it’s true! It only happened once and I think I had a pretty good excuse. You and Vic were the ones who even suggested going out drinking on my twenty first birthday. And Mike kept buying me shots. It’s not like I wanted to take off all my clothes, I was just highly intoxicated.”
“That you were.” I lay back on my bed, covering my eyes. Tony lay down next to me and placed his hand on my stomach, gently brushing his thumb back and forth on the skin that my shirt left exposed.
“So what are you all going to do today?” he asked.
“Eh, I have to work…” I sighed.
“Well do you want me to pick you up after you’re done? We can go out to dinner if you’d like,” he smiled. I turned my head to the side and smiled.
“That’d be nice, but you don’t have to.”
“I want to. Besides, you need to ingest something other than In N Out Burger.” I giggled.
“It’s so good though!”
“Too bad! You can skip it tonight,” he chuckled. I glared at him.
“You’re lucky I like you Perry.”
“Like me? I thought you loved me?” he asked, pretending to be hurt.
“That too,” I laughed. “Now!” I sat up. “I must get ready for work!” he shook his head and sat back on my bed, amused as I rushed around my room, throwing an outfit together.
