I Never Meant To Be Your Pain

Leith laughed and shrugged.
“You found her first; I guess you get her tonight.”
“Are you fucking kidding me right now!” I screamed. “Date rape drugs? What the hell were you thinking, giving her those!” I was raging.
“Calm down Turtle. Think of it as an advantage to you now. Take her home and sleep with her; you win. She won’t remember a thing, I promise. I slipped in an extra one to make sure of it.”
“No! Are you insane! I’m not going to take advantage of her when she has no clue what the hell is going on! She can barely walk!” I balled up my fists and tried to contain my anger. But I couldn’t. Leith was trying to intentionally hurt Ava and I wasn’t going to tolerate it. Leith laughed.
“What, are you going to hit me? Do it, I dare you.” So I did. I pulled my fist back and punched him right in the jaw.
“Stay the hell away from her,” I growled before going back inside to take Ava home. I walked back to the bar and grabbed Ava’s hand. She jumped a little, not knowing who it was.
“Tony?”
“It’s just me…” I exchanged glances with Jaime before looking down at Ava. “Let’s get you home, alright?”
“No, my brother will kill me if he sees me like this. Please don’t take me there Tony,” she begged. There was no way in hell I was going to take her back to my place where Leith would have access to her.
“I’m not taking you back to my house. We’re going to your house. Don’t worry; I will explain to Gabriel what happened, okay?” I turned to Jaime.
“Jaime, tell Vic that we had to leave. I’ll call you sometime tomorrow.” He nodded, kissing Ava on the cheek before we left. “Stay close to me, okay?” she nodded, holding on tightly to my hand as we made our way through the crowd of people. Leith’s eyes burned into my head while he watched us leave. I helped Ava into the passenger seat of my car and buckled her in before getting into the driver’s seat. She laid her head back on the seat as I drove down the road to her house.
“Tony… everything is moving,” she whined, putting her hand over her eyes. I gently put my hand on her thigh as she started to cry again.
“It’s okay… we’re almost to your house.” She rolled her head over and looked to me. Her pupils were huge.
“I… What- I didn’t take anything… Did I overdose?” she stuttered, not able to make a complete sentence.
“No… I think someone slipped something into your drink.”
