I Never Meant To Be Your Pain

Jace and I sat around the shop while Gabriel finished up his last tattoo of the day. Jace was currently reading Tattoo Magazine while I drew up some new sketches for our book.
“Hey Jace?” He glanced up from his magazine to look at me. “You don’t have any more clients today right?” He nodded.
“Looking to finish your sleeve?” he asked.
“No… I’ve been thinking about getting a dermal piercing done.”
“Like Tony’s?”
“No, I want to get them on the bottom of my back.” He made a pained face.
“Those hurt you know…”
“I’m pretty sure I can get a piercing done, Jace. I’ve sat through an eight hour tattoo, remember?”
“Yeah,” he rolled his eyes. “You cried.”
“For like five minutes,” I argued.
“You still cried,” he shrugged.
“Whatever. Will you help me or do I have to do it myself?” I crossed my arms.
“If you want to keep yourself from bleeding out I suggest you have some help,” he set down his magazine on the table next to him and stood up. “Wanna pick out some studs?” I nodded and looked down into the glass display case. Colorful jewels looked up at me.
“I want the opal ones.” He nodded and slid the velvet case out from underneath the glass.
“Let’s go back to my station.” I followed him into his neon colored room, lying down as he got his gloves on. He pulled up the bottom of my shirt as a chill ran up my spine. He took out his sharpie and marked two dots where the gems were supposed to go in.
“Good?” he held up a mirror and let me take a look at the placement. I nodded and laid back down as cold metal touched my skin. “Ready?” I bit down on my lip and let out my breath. “One, two, three,” I felt a sharp stinging pain crawl up my spine as the needle punctured my skin.
“Fuck…” I muttered, digging my nails into the black leather of the chair.
“Take a deep breath.” I did as he said and laid my head back down after he took the needle out. After a second of feeling nothing, I felt a sharp object being shoved into the hole that the needle had created. I arched my back and cursed at the world.
“Told you these hurt.”
“Ugh…” I rolled my eyes and he adjusted the jewel and cleaned it off.
“Only one more to go.” I groaned and felt the cold metal clamps pinch my skin once more. “Ready for round two?”
“It’s now or never.” He nodded and pushed the needle through my skin. This one hurt way more than the last one.
“God damn!” I screamed out in pain. The front door of the shop opened as Tony’s voice rang through the air.
“Ave?”
“In here,” I yelped as Jace pulled out the needle. Tony appeared in the doorway and smiled.
“Getting a dermal, huh?” I nodded, cursing once more as Jace put in the second stud. “Those hurt like hell,” Tony muttered, grabbing onto my hand. I just about crushed it as Jace bumped the freshly placed stud while cleaning it off.
“Alright, all done.” I stood up with the help of the boys and stood in the mirror, looking back at my back. I smiled.
“They look good, Ave.” I grinned up at Tony who was checking them out as well.
“Worth the pain?” Jace rose an eyebrow. I nodded.
“I think I broke Tony’s hand though,” I blushed.
“I don’t need it anyways,” he shrugged. “I only play guitar.” I hit his shoulder and giggled.
“Oh shut up.” We walked back out to the front of the shop as I dug out some money I had in my pocket.
“No, Ava. I got it.” Jace waved.
“You’re not paying for it J.”
“Too bad; neither are you.” I glared at him and looked to Tony.
“So what’s up?”
“The guys and I are going out tonight and I wanted to know if you’d go with.”
“The guys…” I repeated.
“Mike, Vic and Jaime,” he smiled.
“I’d love to go out. Let me go home and change. I’ll meet you at your place?” he nodded.
“I’ll tell G you’re going with Perry.”
“Thanks,” I waved goodbye to Jace as Tony and I left. He took his car back to his house and I took mine back to my house. I wanted to let loose and have a little fun tonight. That’s exactly what I was going to do.
