I Never Meant To Be Your Pain

Ava's POV-
I roamed around the tattoo shop as Jace and Gabriel cleaned up their stations for the day. “Ava?” Jace called from the other room.
“Yeah?” I pulled away from the magazine I was reading and set it down on the desk in front of me.
“Do you have any more customers coming in today?”
“Not that I know of…” Jace roamed into the front room, arranging the magazines and newspapers on the table so they’d look all fancy. “Are you and G done?” He nodded.
“Thank god. I had one of the biggest pieces today and I’m so burnt out.”
“How long were they in for?”
“Since nine this morning.” I looked out the front window of our shop and frowned. It was dark outside.
“Damn... go home and relax.” He smiled.
“Exactly my plans for the evening. See you tomorrow G!”
“See ya man!” my brother called from his station. Jace zipped up his jacket and headed out to his car. “Hey Ava?”
“Hm?”
“What do you want to pick up on the ride home?”
“As far as?”
“As far as food,” he laughed. “I haven’t eaten anything yet today.”
“Ugh, me either. Does In-N-Out Burger sound good?”
“Fuck yeah. Let me just finish cleaning up and I’ll be ready to go.”
“Okay, take your time. I’m in no hurry.” I looked up from my magazine when the front door opened revealing a smile that I knew all too well. I jumped down from my chair and ran over to Tony who wrapped his arms around me. “Tony! I haven’t seen you in forever!”
“Hey Ave,” he chuckled, kissing my cheek as he let me down.
“I thought you were on tour.”
“Yeah, we just got home about an hour ago. I thought I’d stop in and see how you were.”
“God, I’m great. Gabriel and I were just about to close up and get some In-N-Out Burger. You wanna join?”
“No, I’m good… but thanks for the offer.”
“But I wanna hang out and catch up,” I pouted. “Are you going back to your place tonight?”
“Yeah, but the guys will be there.”
“The guys as in Jaime, Vic and Mike? Or the guys as in the assholes you live with?” He chuckled, putting his hands in his pockets.
“Xander, Ashton and Leith.”
“Fuck,”
“We can hang out tomorrow.”
“No… I’ll come over.” I looked up to Tony. “As long as that’s okay with you.”
“Of course it’s okay Ave.” I smiled up at him and turned as my brother entered the room.
“Perry? What’s up man?” he asked, shaking Tony’s hand.
“Nothing much. Mind if I steal Ava for the night?”
“She’s all yours. I was looking to get rid of her anyways,” He smiled, nudging me in the ribs.
“Oh shut up G. You love me.”
“Eh, that’s debatable.”
“You asshole,” I giggled, glancing at Tony. “I’m gonna go grab my bag. I’ll be right back.” He nodded and talked with Gabriel while I collected my book bag and car keys from my station. I turned out the lights and walked back out to the front room to see Tony looking through our book of designs. “Looking to get another one Tone?”
“Yeah…” he sighed, looking up to me as he closed the book. “I was going to get one while we were on the road but I don’t really like getting inked by randoms. I figured I’d wait till I got back to come see you.” I smiled.
“Aw, of course I’ll do some work on you.” I walked over to the appointment book. “When do you want to come in?”
“Um… whenever is good,” he said softly.
“Hm, shit. I’m all booked up this week. You could come in tomorrow after we close.” He chuckled.
“It’s fine Ave. I don’t have to get in this week.”
“No really. I don’t mind staying after hours,” I smiled, writing his name down on a post-it note so I wouldn’t forget. “It’s not like I have a life to tend to anyways.”
“Yeah, she really doesn’t have a life,” Gabriel blurted while putting on his jacket. I glared at him. “Unless you count video game lives. She has lots of those,” he smiled.
“So that’s why you always beat me?” Tony asked, laughing. “A little extra practice on the side, huh?”
“Not much…” I put the appointment book away as Tony watched me.
“Lies,” Gabriel shook his head.
“Fine, maybe an hour or two on the weekends,” I admitted. My brother’s mouth dropped open.
“Our TV bill says otherwise,” he smiled pulling me in for a hug. “You staying at Tony’s tonight?” I looked to Tony and silently asked for permission.
“Of course Ave,” He smiled.
“Just make sure you’re on time for work tomorrow,” Gabriel winked at me and waved to Tony as he left. I blushed and rolled my eyes.
“Ready to go?” I asked. Tony nodded as I shut off the lights and locked the front door behind me.
