The Fault in Her Scars .

"Excuse me, I think the word you're searching for is Space Ranger!" Jaime whispered, dramatically reciting the line from Toy Story.
Mike turned to look at him and frowned. "You guys always let Jaime pick the movie, never me! At least I don't reenact every single scene."
I giggled to myself as Jaime opened his mouth to argue, but was cut off when a flash of lightning lit up and the sky and the thunder boomed throughout the air. The lights in the house flickered for a few moments, and then went completely out.
"Shit, we lost power." Mike said, getting up. "I'll get the flashlights and candles if you wanna show me where they are, Tay."
"Sure thing." I said, getting up from the couch. I walked upstairs to my mom's bedroom with Mike trailing close behind. I opened the nightstand drawer and took out flashlights and candles, grabbing an extra pack of batteries just in case.
"So if you ever wonder where they are, it's all-" I turned around to face Mike, but he wasn't there.
I walked out into the hallway, a bad feeling growing in my stomach.
"Mike, this isn't funny, where are you?" When he didn't answer, I yelled for my other brother. "VIC!" I heard footsteps coming from downstairs and I figured Mike was down there, since I heard more than one pair of feet running.

I picked up the pace and walked down the hall when I felt someone grab me from one of the doorways and cover my eyes.
I screamed bloody murder as loud as I possibly could. "Oh my fucking gosh, HELP ME!"
I heard Tony yell my name as the footsteps quickened up the stairs.
I knew my life was over, I knew that this was it, until I heard giggling.

I realized my eyes were uncovered and I looked to see Mike sliding down the wall, holding his stomach as he laughed.
"You- oh my- that was perfect, you were so scared," he manged to get out in between laughs.

Tony, Jaime, and Vic all rounded the corner and raised their eyes at what they saw, trying to figure out what was going on.

"Dammit Mike, you scared me to death! I thought I was gonna die!" I yelled, a few tears slipping from my eyes when the fear finally caught up to me.
Tony walked over to me, taking my hand and pulling me into him while wiping the tears from my eyes.
"Don't cry sissy, I was just trying to scare you! It was a joke!" Mike said, frowning at me.
I nodded at him. "It's fine Mike, I really don't care."

"Are we good now? We can go back downstairs?" Vic asked, looking between Mike and I.
I nodded my head and turned to Mike. "Walk in front of me."
Tony laughed and pulled Mike to the front with him, and Jaime walked to the back with me.

"You sure you're alright?" Jaime asked, taking my hand in his.
"Yeah," I mumbled, trying to calm myself down.

I wished he'd lock his fingers with mine and hold me the way he used to hold his ex-girlfriend, Amanda. I don't think Jaime would ever knew what he did to me, the way he made me feel. He made me feel like I was the only person who mattered in that moment. He kept me balanced.
Literally.

"Fucker!" I half-yelled as I tripped down the last two steps, not realizing I'd daydreamed off.
Jaime laughed and helped me up, letting go of my hand as soon as we reached the living room.

"Hey, so Austin Carlile just texted me and asked if we wanted to go out tonight with him and the guys to a bar. Erin's been asking to see me so I'm gonna invite her, you should ask Alysha to go Mike." Tony said, smiling.
"Yeah, it'd be cool to get out of here. It's gonna get lame with no power." Vic said, looking at me. "You wanna go?" He asked.
I nodded my head.

I'd missed Erin, her and I were close and she was the only one who knew how I felt about Jaime, she'd promised to not tell.
"Alright, let's get ready then. And Mike, try not to scare our sister anymore." Vic said, pushing us all up the stairs.
