What Happened?

Chapter Three

“So it’s not issues in the bedroom…” The small woman continues after Kellin’s little outburst “Could you describe the first conflict you ever faced?”
“I don’t remember,” Vic shrugged and played at the hem of his hoodie nervously.
“I do,” Kellin hesitantly spoke up, no emotion lacing his voice.
6 years earlier
“Hey Kelly-cakes,” I heard Vic’s voice speak from the doorway as he entered groggily. I smiled at him and patted the spot next to me.
“Don’t call me that…ever,” I said in an un-amused tone. He just chuckled and at down next to me on my old couch that still smelled faintly of cat pee. I always apologized to Vic about that but he insisted he didn’t mind. My family was never very wealthy at all but I didn’t mind too much. He grabbed my hand from his thigh and wrapped my arm around him snuggling into my side. I grinned down at him.
“You’re still really adorable,” I commented. I feel like at this point he kind of gave up denying it.
We sat for a few hours just occasionally making small talk and watched looney toons. Vic seemed really deep in thought after a while and I looked at him in concern, wondering what he was thinking about.
“How come I’ve never met your parents?” He hesitantly spoke up. I had been avoiding this topic for as long as I could but I guess I always knew he would want to know and he had the right to I just didn't know how to tell him. “I mean we’ve been together for six months and I….I feel like you might be ashamed of me,” He looked at me and I swear my heart broke when I saw his eyes glaze over.
“No, no, no, no that is not it Vic. I love you and I want you to meet my parents, I really do,” I sighed and kissed his forehead. “But, they don’t know I’m gay…” I whispered the last part and looked down, avoiding his gaze.
“Oh…” He responded and looked down at the dingy carpet.
“Yeah,” I sighed running a hand through my hair and standing up. “It’s just- They’re really Christian and…” I felt tears pricking at my eyes as I paced the floor of the living room. I felt warm arms wrap around me and leaned into Vic’s embrace.
“It’s going to be okay, no pressure okay?” He placed a soft kiss to my cheek. I smiled and nodded. He sat me down on the couch and put his hands on his hips and scrunched his face in thought.
“What would make you feel better?” He asked.
“Just be here,” I said, though it was cheesy it was true that all I really needed right now was Vic, he was all I needed.
He smiled and sat in my lap wrapping his arms around my neck lightly playing with the tips of my hair.
-present-
“I don’t see the conflict…” The small woman interrupted with her lips pursed. Kellin glared and sighed.
“I’ll skip ahead a little then…”
6 years earlier
“Do I have to go?” I pleaded with the small man in front of me.
“Yes, Kellin, Yes you do,” He responded grabbing my wrist and literally dragging me out the front door keeping a firm grip on my arm as he lead me to the car. I slid into the passenger seat as Vic walked around and planted himself in the driver’s seat next to me and starting up the car.
“But I’m not good with new people, you know that! I’ll choke up and say something really stupid and embarrassing and then you’ll hate me forever!” I over exaggerated earning a chuckle from Vic as he started the car and pulled out of the driveway.
“No you won’t,” He shook his head keeping his eyes on the road.
I just continued to pout until we finally arrived. Well now we’re at a wedding for a person I don’t know. I didn’t want to go because I was sure his old friends from San Diego will hate me and I’m afraid if they don’t like me that he’ll leave me. He can’t leave me; Vic’s the best thing that’s happened to me in quite a while.
“You’ll do great, my family’s strange as it is anyway,” He smiled reassuringly and kissed me on the cheek. I just got out of the car and looked up at the small church. I wasn’t particularly religious but it was a really pretty building. Vic slid his arm around my waist and I automatically put mine around his shoulder.
“We’ll just stay for the ceremony and meet a few people then we can leave and do whatever we want for the rest of the night at your house,” he whispered in my ear suggestively. I smirked and let out a shaky breath.
“Let’s get this over with,”
Vic smiled his perfect smile as we walked in hand in hand. I took in my surroundings, it was like every other church I’ve been in an aisle through the middle covered in petals of various flowers there were people scattered about in between the pews and the front and back of the church. I recognized Vic’s parents, Mike and Jaime and Tony had also showed up with Mike. Other than those five everybody was a stranger and I instinctively gripped Vic’s hand tighter.
He squeezed my hand back reassuringly and led us to the fifth or sixth pew from the front and we slid in and took a seat.
“Vic!” I heard a strong British accent from beside me and looked over to see a tall lanky guy standing at the end of the bench nearest to Vic.
“Hey, Oli!” Vic responded with his beautiful smile. The British guy who I now noticed was covered in tattoos pointed to me with his eyebrows raised. Vic gave a confused look before he spoke up again.
“Oh this is my boyfriend, Kellin,” he motioned towards me with an awkward smile. I gave the tall boy a wave.
“This is the groom’s best man, Oli” Vic further explained to me. I nodded in understanding and smiled at Oli. Oli hesitantly grinned back and kissed Vic on the top of the head earning a glare from the Mexican and I. I didn’t like this guy. At all.
All voices stopped as the music started playing signaling that the ceremony was starting. We all sat silently as the bride and groom shared their vows and when it was over I was more than happy to leave.
As I was getting into the car I was talking to Mike, Tony and Jaime and wondering where Vic had gone.
“But Harry Potter could so-,” I cut Mike off mid sentence to voice my curiosity.
“Where’d Vic go,” I asked. Mike furrowed his eyebrows in confusion and looked around.
“I think I saw him talking to Oli and Matt earlier,” He answered. I tried not to show my jealously but obviously Mike saw through me. “I wouldn’t be too fond of my boyfriend talking to their ex either,” he shrugged.
My eyes widened. What hadn’t Vic told me Oli was his ex when he introduced us?! I quickly walked away from the car and went on the search for my boyfriend.
“You can’t be satisfied with that fag’s tiny dick,” I heard a familiar British accent from around the corner and walked around to find something I didn’t want to see. They couldn’t see me yet so I watched further to see Vic pinned to the wall by the tall man.
“Oli, I don’t want you back,” Vic spat trying to push him away. At this point I was livid and stomped into view.
“Hey, he wasn’t screaming your name last night was he?” I snarled. Vic managed to get out of his grip and ran to my side and I could see the blush on his cheeks.
“Kellin let’s just leave,” Vic tried to brush the conflict off but no I was fucking mad. I wanted to punch that smirk off of this guy’s face so bad.
“Oh did I make little dick angry,” Oli fake pouted at me.
“I’m sorry you seem to be really obsessed with my penis something you gotta say Oli,” I spat back “My dick obviously satisfies him a lot more than you ever did if he’s rejecting you. Not only that but you're also a giant objectifying asshole,"
“How does it feel to be sloppy seconds?” That pushed me passed the edge I swear I heard something snap in my mind as I stepped forward and my fist collided with his face.
“Kellin let’s go!” I heard Vic’s voice but brushed it off. I knew I was being an ass to him but I was not going to let Oli talk to him like a fucking object.
Oli stood up and regained his balance he glared at me. I threw another punch but felt an arm hold me back before my fist could reach is face.
I looked back to see Vic holding my arm with a serious expression on his face.
“We’re leaving, now,” He gripped my arm and practically dragged me to the car. Once we made our way to the small beat up vehicle we were completely silent. We sat in the car for about three minutes, neither of us making a move to speak or go home.
“What the fuck Kellin?” Vic finally spoke up after what felt like hours of painful silence. I just kept my head down refusing to make eye contact.
“I don’t even-,” Vic cut me off mid sentence.
“You made a huge fucking scene really?! For something that had nothing to do with you.” He crossed his arms.
“Had nothing to do with me?” I scoffed “He was insulting my boyfriend, he was insulting me. It had to do with me. You also could have told me he was your ex what the fuck?!"
“Well you could have ignored him, and that doesn't matter” I didn’t respond as Vic started up the car. We took the small ride in silence and when we finally arrived at my house he made no move to follow like our original plan.
“Are you going to come in?” I asked knowing full well what his answer would be.
“No,” and with that he started the car back up and drove away, leaving me to feel like shit. I really fucked up huh?
