Without You There Is No Me

Five

I walked into the dining room where I saw the number of people that were actually in this house. At the table I saw Mike, Tony, Jaime, Jess and Vic. But I also Harry with a man and a woman that I didn't know. I pulled the chair next to Vic out and he looked up at me. "Morning," I smiled to everyone.
"How you feeling?" Vic asked.
"I don't know," I shrugged. "I feel tired,"
"You should have stayed in bed," he frowned.
"No, I came here to discover things. I can't do that from my bed,"
"Toast?" Vic asked. I nodded and he kissed my cheek before he got me a plate.
"What happened last night?" Jaime asked as he ate.
"I went for a walk,"
"And?" Mike urged.
"I don't know. I had some flashbacks. But I was so weak. I couldn't move. Carrie came down and helped me before Vic found us," I explained.
"The same happened to Aidan. But that was when a ghost was trying to show him things from their past. Is it like when Lauren was showing you her attack?" Jess asked easily.
"No, it was different,"
"Was it like when they were attacking you? I don't mean with the whole stigmata thing. But before," Tony said.
"I don't think so," I shook my head.
"Sorry," the woman interrupted. "But attacks. What do you mean attacks?"
"Laura," Harry sighed. "Please,"
"I think we need to know," the man defended.
"Hannah, this is my son William and his wife Laura," Harry introduced them.
"You're Carrie's parents," I guessed.
"Please tell us. All we have are old stories that have probably been twisted through the years," Laura begged.
"Hannah Charlotte died a long time ago. I am her, but-"
"You don't have to do this," Vic soothed and took my hand.
"No, I should," I whispered. "I don't have all of those memories. I can tell you what I know happened back then. Or what was reported,"
"Please," Harry urged.
"Robin had left. The attack was being raged. The bad people went into my dreams. They showed me the worst possible thing they could. It led me to leave the baby and go to a tomb. My mother found the baby and my step brother followed me. He saw me possessed. I was lying on stone where I was screaming from all of the things they were showing me. There were slashes on my body. When they finally let me go a knife dropped. I killed myself to end it all," I explained monotone.
"I-I'm sorry," Laura muttered.
"You probably want to know what will happen to Carrie," Vic said.
"Yes," William nodded.
"Some people are special. They can see things. They can see ghosts and they can talk to them. I'm one of these people. So is Carrie," I said. "We're called The Haunted. Demons, or the bad people will do everything they call to extinct these special people. They will kill us, or at least try. There's only one thing that can keep us alive,"
"What?" William asked.
"Finding our person. We find our person and we have a chance of surviving. They have as much responsibility as we do. They love us and we love them with all our hearts. You can't put it into words. It's special. But it's not of our own will. We're almost forced together. It isn't like that, we are grateful for it. But that is the truth,"
"Have you found your person?" Laura asked.
"I have," I smiled. "My person is Vic," and Vic leant in to kiss my cheek. He wrapped an arm around my waist.
"What if Vic would have left you?" Harry asked. I felt Vic sigh against my shoulder.
"If I would have left Hannah she wouldn't have survived. She would be dead now . . . and so would I because I wouldn't be able to live without her. That's the other sad thing. If you lose your person you die. There's no other way about it. There only hope is that their person save them. They give them the strength to survive," Vic told the room.
"Where is the proof of this?" Laura rushed.
"When Robin left I died," I said.
"Aidan died," Jess mumbled.
"Aidan was Jess's brother," Jaime explained. "When his person left him he died,"
"But you're children," William said.
"If you knew what we've seen you wouldn't call us children," Mike snapped.
"Mike," I sighed.
"No, after everything we've done I think we've earned the right not to be referred to as children,"
"He's kind of right," Tony added.
"I don't know much about your past either, Hannah," Harry reminded me.
"I don't know. Jaime?" I urged.
"Uh okay. I never used to believe Hannah. She's always seen things, for as long as I've known her. But they thought she was sick and had psychosis. She lied and said it had stopped. But all the while she was being stalked by a ghost. By Lauren actually. I saw something then I had to believe her," Jaime explained. "There was this incident at a warehouse. Hannah was possessed and her friend was shown things. It drove her friend insane. After that I couldn't question Hannah. We moved in the end,"
"Thanks," I told him. "I don't remember bits of that. But we moved. I became more understanding of Lauren and talked to her. I found Vic and the others. But all the while the attack was coming. Once you find your person you don't have long until the attack comes. I was trying to stop it by researching. But my mom found out. She thought I was crazy. I was taken away to a hospital. Once I was away from Vic the attack started. But he got to me. I was having dreams," I explained.
"They try to split you up. They took me away to try and get to Hannah," Vic added.
"I got possessed I think. I went to a tomb where Vic was. I hurt people. Then I tried to hurt myself. It's always the same story, or at least for the females,"
"We thought we had you back," Tony said.
"But they didn't. The demon was still inside. It pushed me out of my own body,"
"We knew that though," Mike said.
"Jess had some knowledge about contacting the dead because of her brother," Jaime said.
"Only a little," Jess frowned. "But we did a ouija board to got to Hannah. The only way to get her back was to cast out the demon. But only Hannah was powerful enough to do that. Vic have himself up,"
"I had to," Vic sighed.
"What happened?" Harry asked.
"Hannah banished him to hell," Vic said smoothly.
"Don't say it like that," I muttered. "It nearly killed us both,"
"But it didn't," he soothed.
"It isn't like that for everyone. It was my second time so they made killing me a priority. But now I need to help people going through it. I want people to be safe. Maybe if I try my hardest I can draw people together. The more of these things banished the better," I said grimly.
"No!" someone exclaimed. I turned around and saw Carrie.
"It won't be like that!" I rushed.
"No," she muttered and shook her head. She turned and hurried out. I saw Tony stand up. His eyes were wide and he was wringing his hands together.
"I'll go," he told us and he ran out after her.
"Tell me what to do," Laura breathed.
"I do know," I whispered. "But I'm going to do everything I can to make sure Carrie survives what is to come,"

Notes

Hey! What did you think? This is almost like a summary for everyone who forgot the history and plot (like I did). It explains a lot of things. It makes everyone realise that actually they aren't children anymore. What will Hannah do about Carrie? What will happen next? What about Tony? :)
