I woke on Saturday morning, and I was so fucking nervous. The week went by in a blur as we practiced and practiced. In my opinion, we’ve come so far, I just don’t know if we’re ready to go against another team.

I slowly got up and made my way to my bathroom. I took a long shower, but after a good 45 minutes, I realized that I won’t be able to stay in here all day and got out. I put my hair up into a tight ponytail before putting on my uniform.

I put my cleats in my bag along with some water and other necessities for today, before walking downstairs and sitting at the kitchen table. I laid my head down on the table and sighed.

“Nervous?” Dad asked.

I lifted my head up and nodded at him. “Stop worrying so much.”

“What if we lose? It’ll be all my fault since I was in charge of practice and everything. They’re all going to hate me.”

“Awh come on, you’ll do great. Stop thinking so negatively.” Jaime laughed and handed me my plate of food.

“Amber’s going to be here soon so we can get to the field on time for some practice, but the game doesn’t start until 12:30 soo…..” I drifted off.

“Don’t worry I’ll be there.” He laughed.

I heard a car horn outside and smiled.

“Alright, bye dad, I’ll see you later.” I yelled and ran out the door to Chris’s car. I slid in the back seat next to Brandon.

“Dani you look so cute today” Amber smiled turning around.

“I feel like a nervous wreck.” I sighed.

“Don’t worry you’ll be fine” Brandon said throwing his arm over my shoulders.

We joined in light conversation as we drove to where the game was today. Once there, Amber and I jumped out of the car and ran to our teammates and began stretching. Game time came sooner than I expected.

Surprisingly, I was the only one nervous about the game, everyone else was excited. I really hope I don’t let the team down. I mean they were relying on me to get control of the ball and oh god I can’t do this.

I looked around trying to find dad, or any of the other guys, but they were nowhere in sight. I sighed and sat down on the bench.

“Preciado, you alright?” Jaz asked running up to me.

“Uhh yeah.”

“Then come on, we need our team caption on the field if we’re ever going to get the game started.” She laughed.

I sighed, but forced a fake smile and ran onto the field.
After 2 long hours, we had won with a 3 point lead, and the only people I recognised in the stands were Chris and Brandon.

We shook hands with the other team before I went to sit on the bench.

“Dani.” Amber said walking over to me with the rest of the team following.

“Yeah?”

“Well we were all talking, and we agreed that you should have the game ball.” She started

“And the trophy.” Jaz finished.

“What? Why me?” I asked

“Because you made us into better players, before you joined the team, we didn't even know how to really play, and because you taught us so much during practice we were able to win the game today .” Amber smiled and handed me the ball, followed by Jaz handing me the trophy.

“Thanks guys.” I smiled and gave them all a hug before walking over to Brandon and Chris.

“See, I told you that you’d be fine” Brandon said pulling me into a hug.

“So Dani, we’re having a party tonight to celebrate, you in?” Amber asked as we began walking to Chris’ car.

“Uhm, no thanks, I think I’m just going to go home and get some rest.” I said giving them a sad smile.

“Alright.” She said sadly before we all climbed in. They ride back was full Amber and them talking about what the needed for tonight, and me staring out the window.

“Bye guys” I said as we pulled into my driveway. “Thanks for the ride.” I said picking up all my things.

“Don’t worry about it.” Chris smiled.

“And hey if you change your mind about the party, it starts at 8.” Amber smiled.

“Maybe” I chuckled before walking to my door and unlocking it.

I walked in and looked around to see that once again I was alone. I sighed and walked upstairs to my room to sit all my stuff down and taking a shower.

Around 7:30

I wonder what it was this time. Maybe they needed him in the studio again, or the band had a meeting with the record label, or- who am I kidding. He’s probably with that one lady again -I think her name was Ashley - whoever she was she was always a bitch to me when she came over, which was basically every day this week.

I was brought out of my thoughts by my phone ringing.

“Hello?”

“Hey Dani” Amber said. “I was wondering if you had changed your mind about coming tonight everyone really wants you to.”

“You know what, I think I’ll go to the party..” I smiled.

“Alright, I’ll send you the address and everything, we can’t wait to see you.” She said as I heard an eruption of cheers in the background.

“Alright, I’ll see you guys soon.” I laughed before hanging up. I took a deep breath before running upstairs and into my closet. I put on this outfit and quickly did my makeup.

By the time I was done it was already 8:20.

The party wasn’t that far away so I decided to just walk. I quickly texted Amber before I began my short journey.
