Time-Bomb-

Chapter 10

I let out a nervous laugh.
"Vic, I don't think I can do this," I admitted, sinking back into the passenger seat of his car.
"Sure you can," he smiled.
I knew it was going to be hard. Even if Vic told me that he's never had trouble for being gay, I'm going to go from most popular guy in school to an insignificant loser as soon as I walk through those doors I can just feel it.
"Kellin, look at me," Vic said seriously.
I turned to him with a crooked smile.
"Everything will be fine. I know that for a fact," Vic said. I couldn't help but believe him. Maybe he already knew how today was going to go. His reassurance put a smile on my face as some of the butterflies from my tummy floated away.
"Okay," I whispered, infatuated with Vic.
He moved in to kiss me quickly before we got out of his car.
"Ready?" He asked.
I nodded, biting my lip out of nervous habit.
He took my hand and I squeezed his tight. We walked into the front doors of our school. Vic wouldn't let me pull away no matter what. I'd rather it be that way.
I looked around to see the reaction on the faces of my schoolmates.
"Are they holding hands?" A girl whispered into a group of her friends.
As much as I wanted the be the confident stud I was only a week ago, all I did was shy away into Vic's grip.
Taylor caught sight of us and I pulled Vic over to her so we could talk.
"Tay what do I do this is really awkward?" I asked.
"Remember the first day we showed the school we were dating?" She asked.
"Yeah?"
"You've done it once. This is no different."
Vic smiled at her words of encouragement.
"You're not so bad, Jardine," he said to her.
"All the same to you, Fuentes," she grinned and walked away flashing a peace sign.
I looked around again. People were staring. A lot of them had expressions of utter shock, others of adoration, others of disgust.
"Vic everyone's staring," I said while looking up to him.
"Ignore them. It's just me and you now," he whispered and pulled me in to a hug. My head rested on his warm chest.

After what seemed like a lifetime the bell finally rang and Vic and I rushed through the hallways to get to calculus.
Hayley walked by and shot us a stinging glare of hatred. Vic rolled his eyes at her and I hid behind him.
We waited behind the entrance to the classroom for a few seconds.

"I won't kiss you at school if you don't want me to," Vic proposed.
I wanted to lie and tell him it was okay but I knew he could already sense the relief I felt from him saying that.
"Thank you," I sighed.
He smiled and we both walked to our seats.
I scooted into my desk without looking anywhere but the floor.
"Kellin calm down," Tay said from besides me.
"Trying," I admitted bluntly.
I looked up at the clock. Class didn't start for another two minutes and for some reason I felt like I just wouldn't make it till that time.
"Kellin," a voice came from my right.
I turned slightly to see none other than Mike Fuentes.
I shook my head slightly and looked down at the floor in fear.
"I'm sorry," he said sincerely.
I ignored him and turned my attention to the teacher in front if me who was passing out worksheet for us to do.
I silently did my class work and once I finished I completed my homework as well. There was still another twelve minutes of class but I didn't know what to do so I blankly stared at my assignments pretending to go over my answers. I thought about how awkward it was to be dating the brother of the guy who put me in a hospital for a week. He's also the reason in wearing a damn brace around my stomach and all he can do is say sorry? How could I forgive him...
When the bell rang I stormed out of class so my day could go by faster.
Once I reached Latin I took my same seat next to Andy and smiled at him, only he didn't seem so happy.

"Hey," I spoke softly, hoping that he wasn't as angry as he looked.
"Hi," he said in a monotone voice.
"H-how was your weekend?" I continued to try to talk to him only because he was a good friend so I felt like I owed him the attention.
"Horrible," he admitted and hid his face into his arms.
"Aw no," I cooed.
I leaned in so he could hear me a little better, "I'm here for you, alright?"
He lifted his face up and the tiniest smile creeped up on his face.
"You're too good to me, Kellin."
"You get what you give," I chuckled.

After that everything was pretty normal again. I went about my classes that passed quickly, some people asked questions about my accident, a few about Vic. A lot of the people who so happily talked to me last week avoided me for the most part. I had to admit, things could be a lot worse.

Eventually lunch came around and I was sitting with Vic in the area he was usually with his friends.
"Vic none of your friends have a problem with me... Do they?" I asked cautiously.
He laughed.
"No Kellin, my friends are not judgmental. They made their own sense of the situation but they most definitely do not have a problem with you."
Speaking of his friends I spotted two guys walking over to us and giggling to themselves. One of then was well-built with spiky black hair. He looked like he could enjoy a good laugh. The other had a SnapBack on and random hair poking out from underneath it. He looked a little more like he kept to himself.
"What's up?" Vic asked looking up to them.
"Sierra," The guy with spikes hair said breathlessly still unable to talk because of his laughter.
"Oh what did she do this time?" Vic asked.
I looked at Vic confusedly.
"Sierra is Mike's ex. They like to play practical jokes on each other. You'll love her," Vic smiled childishly.
"She poured spaghetti down his pants," the other said quietly with a pleased smile.
"No way," Vic said.
"Speak of the devil."
A girl with highlighted hair and big brown eyes stood proud and mighty in front of us.
"I'm the queen."
"Sierra I'd watch my pants if I were you," Vic laughed.
She smiled but looked down at me and gave me a funny look.
"Kellin?"
"Uh, yeah?" I asked shyly.
"Why's he here?" She directed towards Vic.
"Oh shoot I just noticed him," The spiky haired boy whispered to the other.
"He's gonna hang out with us from now on," Vic said proudly.
"I hope you can take a joke," Sierra warned me.
"No pranks! Sierra, no pranks."
"Anyway, this is Jaime and this is Tony. These three are the coolest people you'll ever meet."
I looked at them and tried to smile but I just felt too much tension.
"Isn't this the dick that punched you and then made the whole school hate you?" Jaime asked.
I frowned and intensely stared at my fingers to avoid crying. I'm not sure why I was tearing up, normally a comment like that wouldn't matter to me.
"It was my fault. I think I would've punched myself too if I were in his situation. Besides, Austin was the one who spread the rumor."
Vic squeezed my hand.
"So... He's cool? You're not gonna go fucking around with us right?" Sierra asked.
"I promise that I'm not here to intentionally hurt anyone," I said truthfully.
"Okay," Sierra smiled.
"What was it like dating the most popular girl in school?" Sierra asked with much interest.

Vic shook from besides me and grabbed my arm to steady himself.
"Kellin," Vic intervened.
"Uh, it's... Come with me."

Once we reached a secluded area he stopped me.
"I really didn't want to bring this whole thing up again, I know how it makes you feel but... I saw something."
"Huh?" I asked.
"It's Hayley," Vic said and rolled his eyes.
"She's going to try and frame you. I know who she's going to try and frame you with. She's going to blackmail Mike into admitting that you were only using Taylor. She has this whole devious plan to get everyone to hate you."
"Oh."
I didn't want to accept the fact that all of this was probably true because that would mean I had to come to terms with the fact that my boyfriend can tell the future. It was just so weird.
"I have an idea," Vic grinned. I urged him to continue.
"I'll get Mike to record it. Blackmail the blackmailer kinda thing. He can show her than he's got it recorded, then she won't take any action!"
"Clever," I said and nudged him on the shoulder.
"Better call him," Vic said and pulled out his phone.
I just stood there staring and the ground while listing to him convince Mike to record it. At first Mike was reluctant but once Vic gave Mike the guilt trip and told him that he owed me; Mike gave in.
The phone call ended and Vic and I happily made it back to the others. We all talked and I became a little more comfortable around them.
Near the end up lunch I wanted to get to my locker earlier so I could come in earlier for art and catch up on some assignments.
On my way I saw an angry looking Haley with a tray full of gross pasta.
She was headed in my direction and I wanted to turn back but I knew everyone was looking and I couldn't just make myself look like an idiot. She kept walking faster and somehow I just knew she would try and dump her food on me, which is exactly what she attempted. Only, just before the tray of pasta landed on my chest I flipped it around so it went all over her.
"Oops," I said pretending innocence.
"You fucking dick!" She screamed. Oh god...
Practically the whole school was watching me right this moment.
"Don't pretend you weren't going to cover me in that. I'm kinda fed up with you trying to sabotage me. I don't care what you think, I'm gonna do what I want," I said loud enough for people around me to hear.
It was just then I finally gathered that mindset. I could live in fear of everyone else judging me or I could just do what I want and be happy. Why hadn't I seen it before? Life is too short to take for granted.
"Hey! Everyone! I have something to say!" I yelled.
"I'm dating a boy," I said shakily, "and if that's something that lowers my social status to you... Then you're a jerk."
Vic pushed through the crowd of people around me and took hold of my hand.
I smiled.
"I'm still the same guy. Only now I've found someone who brings out the best in me," I smiled at Vic.
"And I love him."
Vic was probably more surprised than anyone around us. It was weird saying it. It was weird finally admitting it but I did... I really did love him. I love Vic.
"I'm gonna kiss you now," I told Vic.
I took hold of the back of his neck and sweetly placed a small kiss on his lips. Oddly enough people around us were cheering. Even some jock near the back of the crowd yelled something like "hooray for gay!" Which made a few people laugh.

The bell rang and people progressively left so Vic and I could finally make it to art class.
While we were in there most of the class came up to both of us and congratulated us on our relationship which was actually really great. Everything felt so perfectly in order. I felt like nothing could go wrong.
Vic held my hand in his and lifted my fingers like a child.
"I love you," he whispered.
"I love you too," my grip tightened in his hand and he leant on my shoulder.
I wanted things to be like this forever.
