Believe You Me

June 8th

I haven’t said a single word to Julie for three days and in those three days; I have been drinking more and more. The band noticed it but they didn’t question it, they knew better. Except for Vic. He took me out of the bus one night while we crashed by a small lot and rested.

“Hermano, what’s wrong? The drinking had been getting worse.” He spoke, worry in his voice.

“I can’t with Julie. She’s all I think about and she doesn’t want to be with me even though I love her. She knows I love her, but she doesn’t want to be with me.” Vic stared at me and he sighed heavily.

“Mike, how do you know she likes you?” He asked

“She kisses me back! Every time I kiss her, she returns it. I feel complete, but she won’t be mine. I need her to be mine.” I growled. The door opened and Casey walked out, looking at Vic and I.

“Can I speak to him Vic? Alone.” Vic nodded and I punched the bus, throwing the empty bottle on the ground, having it smash. I walked a bit away and sat on the ground, resting my elbows on my slightly bent knees.

“I know Casey, ‘stay away from my sister’. Goddamn it, I don’t know why you’re so keen in keeping her away from us, or anyone.” I was pissed; I didn’t even care what I said.

“Mike, I don’t care anymore.” Casey said, sitting in front of me. I stared at him and he smiled a bit and shrugged.

“What?” I asked.

“Julie is 25 and she should make her own decisions; even if they’re bad.” I watched Casey as he drew a design on the ground with his finger and I watched him closely. He’s kidding, he has to be.

“You’re kidding.” I spoke. Casey shook his head and stood up.

“Nope, now come on. Everyone is worried about you, even Julie.” I stood up but stopped Casey.

“Does she, you know, like anyone?” Casey sighed, looking at me and shrugged.

“She talks a lot to Tony about her problems. I think Tony knows more about her than anyone else does right now.” I nodded, feeling slightly jealous and Casey nodded. “Tomorrow is a free day so come on; let’s just forget about the past.” I nodded, going back to the bus. I didn’t feel better because Julie wasn’t mine. I passed everyone in the bus and got on my bunk, kicking my shoes off and closing the curtain. I tried my hardest to sleep that night.
The next morning I woke up to whispers and a slight giggle. No matter what I did, my body wouldn’t move and I stayed still, as if glued on the spot. I fell back asleep right away, waking up again and finally being able to move. Maybe it was a dream?

I got off my bunk, going to lounge and seeing everyone there except the one person I wanted to see. “Where’s Julie?” I asked.

“Good morning to you too.” Vic laughed.

“Where’s Julie?” I repeated and Casey looked at me.

“Meeting a few old friends for breakfast and maybe lunch. She’ll be back soon though.” I watched as they just continued through everyday things and I turned around, going back to the bunks. I grabbed some skinny jeans, a random Diamond Supply Inc. shirt, and some black shoes. I ruffled my hair, making it a bit more presentable and grabbed my wallet from my luggage bag, pocketing it. I grabbed my phone, walking out and ruffled my brother’s hair playfully.

“I’ll be back in a few; I’m going to get a few things.” Vic looked at me, smiling while fixing his hair.

“Bring back some more water bottles, we’re almost out.” I nodded, walking off the bus and walking down the street. I pulled out my phone, looking through Instagram and taking a photo of Starbucks.

Maybe a nice hot coffee would be nice, huh?

I uploaded the picture to twitter as well and pocketed my phone, walking inside Starbucks. I saw a few people inside with their drinks, a book or laptop and walked up to the counter. I turned to look at the guy and smiled a bit.

“Can I get a mocha frappucinno?” I asked and he nodded, putting it in the register and I gave him the full ten. He gave me back my change and I put the dollars in the tip box, pocketing the coins. He walked to the back to start making it and I waited, taking my phone out and seeing a notification from a young fan saying how she loved our recent concert and she wanted to thank us for the fun night. I smiled, clicking on her profile and looking through her photos. She was really pretty and I decided to make her day much better.

Thanks so much! We love so much more and we hope to meet you one day. I love you!

I tagged her in the comment and pocketed the phone once the guy came over with my coffee. I thanked him, walking out and heading to a small park, pretty close by. I walked through it, looking for an empty seat and instead found a rock by a few trees. I sat down, sipping on my coffee and put on some music. I listened to a few songs before I saw someone walking up to me and I turned, surprised to see her.

“Julie?” I said, seeing her eyes a bit swollen and red. She looked dazed and confused, her head snapping up to meet my eyes when I called her name.

“What are you doing here?” She asked. I looked around and gave her a confused look.

“You walked over to me.” Julie looked down and nodded, about to walk away when I called her name, making her freeze in her tracks. “Are you okay?” I asked. She stood still, sniffing a bit before shaking her head. She turned around, sitting next to me and tears streaked down her face.

“I don’t want to talk about it though.” She sobbed, covering her face with her hands. I placed my drink on the grass, pulling her to me and hugging her tightly. I shushed her, rocking her back and forth softly while humming a random song. She cried in my arms for a good while before she stopped; only short breaths were heard from her and she was just staring at my arms.

“Julie, I know you don’t want to talk about it baby, but maybe if you talk to Casey or someone else, you’ll feel better.” Julie stayed still, looking up at me; her eyes boring into mine. I saw sadness in them and I hated it. I leaned down, pressing my forehead to hers and sighed, pecking her lips.

“Mike…” She was about to start but I cut her off.

“Baby, I love you.” I whispered. Julie sobbed more and wrapped her arms around my neck clutching me tightly.

“Please don’t say that. I’ll date you, just please don’t say you love me.” She sobbed in my shirt. I hugged her tightly, shaking my head.

“Sorry, but no; I need to have you understand my feelings for you.” Julie hugged me tighter and broke away. She kissed me softly, her hands on my cheeks, bringing me closer. I kissed her back and broke away, having her look down.

“Not here babe, let’s go back to the bus with your brother.” Julie nodded, getting up as I grabbed my drink and grabbed her hand. We linked them together and I handed her my drink so she would relax. I walked inside a small shop, grabbing a pack of water bottles and gave the man the exact amount. Julie walked by my side, drinking my coffee and occasionally reaching up to give me some. We reached the bus and she stood outside.

“Tell my brother that I want to speak to him out here.” I nodded, kissing her softly before going inside. Julie was mine, and I would make sure she was only mine.
