Believe You Me

Mia got out of school just in time, like we had planned. Warped was only a couple weeks away and the band was getting everything ready as soon as possible. I had gone out with them to get a photo shoot done for AP Magazine and Mia was excited to see her uncle Vic on the cover. Julie and I made sure that her medication was done and was all taken care of during the trip. I picked Mia up on her last day; leaving Julie for a bit in the doctors while she got a few tests done.

“How was my baby’s last day of school?” I smiled at Mia, picking her up.

“Great daddy! Miss Greene said that she was going to be teaching a kindergarten class and I might have her again!” I smiled at her as her teacher walked up.

“Are you telling our secrets now?” She asked, Mia smiling. “But yes, I got promoted to teaching the kindergarten class so I might be having the joy of teaching her again.” Miss Greene smiled.

“Miss Greene, is that your boyfriend?” The principal walked up and smiled at us.

“Oh no, Mr. Fuentes here is married and this is his daughter.” Miss Greene nervously laughed.

“I’m very sorry, I didn't know.” He apologized but I waved it off.

“It nothing, honestly. Now, I have to get going, this little munchkin has to pack her clothes.” I tickled Mia and she laughed, snuggling closer to me.

“Vacation?” The principal asked.

“Warped tour!” Mia cheered and I explained the trip, finally leaving to the hospital with Mia talking about her friends and how she was going to be a bigger girl. We parked in the main parking lot, I took Mia down and we walked in, going straight to the room where Julie was.

She was sitting on the bed, her eyes darting from place to place before finally looking at us. He eyes were red and puffy, her lip was bruised from her biting it but she grinned at Mia. “Hi baby, how was school?” I let Mia go to her, the two talking while I leaned on the wall. Dr. Evans walked in, setting the folder down and saying hello to Mia and myself.

“Well Julie, like I told you, the machine will help with any breathing problems you have and that should be it. Have a safe trip alright?” After we left, Mia was singing in the backseat when I took a hold on Julie’s hand.

“Everything alright?” I asked. Julie hesitated, finally nodding before sighing.

“Just processing all this.” She whispered. I lifted her hand, softly kissing it and smiled.

“You have us, we’ll be fine.” I assured.

During the tour, Julie needed to use the breathing machine more often, finding herself out of breath constantly. At one point, I was scared that she was going to go back into the hospital. Casey was always with her, giving me a sense of reassurance, but Julie was constantly on the machine.

It was then that I was slowly falling more into the denial and fear of her leaving me.

Notes

I updated my iTunes to 11.2.2 and it won't recognize my device, so I recovered it back to before I downloaded it and not only did it delete it, but it deleted ALL my files from then to now. I was so mad!!
