Believe You Me

March 10th

Nothing big has happened after the baby incident. Julie stayed in the room for a whole week. Casey came over and they would go out for a walk until finally she pulled herself together. It took me quite a bit too, I mean, I didn’t expect us to recover after a day. I was still a bit sensitive about the subject and Julie couldn’t bear seeing a baby for a while. I walked with her down the street, deciding that we would go out to lunch. We walked inside the small restaurant, sitting in a table. A young waitress took our order, never taking her eyes off me. According to what Julie said, anyway. I looked at Julie who was looking at the cup of water and she looked up at me.

“Mike?” She said.

"Yeah?” I asked again.

“Let’s try again.” My eyebrows shot up. It hasn’t even been less than a month since we lost our kids and she wants to try again?

“Are you sure?” I asked. The waitress came back and set down our drinks.

“Would you like to order now?” She asked me. Julie shook her head and I did too, seeing as the waitress didn’t even as much as glance at her.

“I’ll call Dr. Evans and see if I can set up an appointment to see what caused the sudden loss.” I nodded, grabbing my coke and drinking it.

“Isn’t it a bit too early?” I asked. “I mean, I’m all for trying again, but are you ready?” I asked. Julie drank her Mountain Dew as she thought.

“I thought about it a lot. You aren’t going on tour anytime soon since you guys are recording new music, so now would be a perfect time. Plus, I miss having the feeling of being a mom.” I looked at her and shook my head.

"Why else?" Julie snapped her head up at me and she sighed heavily.

"What if something happens to me? I want to leave something behind so you can remember me by. I don't want to leave you empty handed." I reached over, holding her hand in mine and bringing it to my lips, softly kissing it.

"I love you, and I will always love you. I will never forget you." I stated. Julie sniffed back her tears and I smiled at her. "Alright, set the appointment.” Julie grinned and scooted her chair next to me, kissing my cheek. I opened my menu and looked through the food, Julie still sitting next to me and looking through it with me.

“Are you still thinking or are you ready?” The waitress asked.

“Can I have a double bacon cheeseburger with fries?” Julie asked, picking up her drink for more. The waitress wrote it down and I looked at Julie.

“You’re eating that?” I asked. She nodded and I smiled at her. “Holy shit my wife can eat.” She giggled and I lightly kissed her. “Same for me.” I gave the waitress back the menu and she walked back, what looked like annoyed. But I didn’t notice at the time. Not until we got home with Julie told me. I laughed with her and she rolled her eyes, saying how she was annoyed at first but got over it. I teased her with being jealous until she caught my mouth with hers and admitted that she was, indeed, jealous.

(March 12th)

“Alright, what can I help you both with today?” Dr. Evans asked, walking into his small but comfortable office.

“Mike and I want to try again on having a baby.” Julie spoke up. I sat next to her, nodding and he looked at both of us.

“Are you both sure? I mean, it’s been 19 days.” He spoke.

“I won’t be going on tour anytime soon, we’re writing new music and she thought right now would be perfect. We’re not going anywhere and you’ll be here if anything.” I said. Dr. Evans sighed and nodded.

“Well, I won’t try to crush this determination.” He smiled.

“We would just like to know why I lost the twins.” Julie asked, her voice breaking in the end. I held her hand and she squeezed it a bit.

“Right, I’ve been meaning to give you a call on that, but with all these things, it slipped my mind.” He took out two butterfly injections and he began making sure they were perfect. “It seemed that they died from natural cause, from what I saw with the doctors.” He rolled his chair over to a clear tube at another table and connected it to the tube. “The other doctors, myself included, examined everything and you were perfectly healthy.” He attached a thick clear plastic bag and smiled at Julie. “It wasn’t something you did wrong, it was natural.” He rubbed Julie’s arm with rubbing alcohol and inserted the needle, drawing a bit of blood.

“Why are you doing this?” I asked, actually curious.

“To see if her blood level is fine. I need to check yours too, Mike.” I nodded, watching as he stopped. He took out the needle and let the last bit of blood get in the bag. He sealed it tightly and got another tube with another bag. He did the same with me and I sighed, watching my blood run across the tube. I was getting sick of the sight of it. He finally finished and got up.

“I’ll just get these to the lab to get them tested. You both are free to go and I’ll call you both tonight, if not tomorrow to let you both know if it’s safe.” We thanked him and walked out, getting in my car, Julie saying she would drive. I got in the passenger seat, fiddling with the car radio while just giving up. I began playing a game on my phone, honestly not even knowing what game, but I remember getting pissed at it and just giving up. Julie laughed, shaking her head and saying something about not having patience. I began thinking and a light bulb went off.

Notes

Sorry I haven't been updating like I should. It's been a week and I feel really bad. I started school last Monday and I only have classes on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. But the homework they give out is all on internet and it's so much man. Ugh... I hate college.
