Ally's POV
January

"Happy Birthday honey!" My mother hugged me as my father leaned in to kiss my on the forehead. "I honestly can't believe that you are turning 21 when it only seems like yesterday that I was pregnant with you"

My cheeks flushed with embarrassment as I flashed my parents a smile and muttered the words "thank you."

"You've grown into such a beautiful young woman and we couldn't be more proud of you" my father was practically beaming with pride. He handed me an envelope. "Happy Birthday sweetheart!"

My fingers fumbled as I tried to open the envelope. I assumed it was a card with a cheque placed inside, which was what I had been given for the past three years. However when I slipped the card out of the envelope, and opened it to reveal the contents my jaw dropped. I looked up at my parents, both whom were grinning at me. I could feel tears of happiness welling up in my eyes.

My parents had given me plane tickets.

June

I awoke to the sound of my alarm. I shut it off and glanced at the time on my phone. It was 4am. I had four hours to get ready and be at the airport for my flight. Today was the day I had been waiting for my entire life. Today I was leaving my old life in Australia behind and flying halfway across the world to America so I could attend the killer music festival that was The Warped Tour.

I climbed out of bed and sighed at the person staring back at me in the mirror. My hair was a wreck and there were bags under my eyes as the past few nights I had not slept due to excitement. I quickly jumped in the shower the hot water instantly relaxing me, as I washed my body with my favourite vanilla-scented body wash. I decided to quickly wash my long, wavy-blonde hair making a mental note to braid it later. I pulled on some simple black leggings and a cream-coloured oversized sweater, keeping in mind the fact that I had a 22 hour flight ahead of me. I matched the outfit with my black docs and a grey scarf before braiding my hair and wrapping it up into a bun. I applied my makeup naturally, making sure to cover up the bags under my eyes and with that I was ready to leave!

I made my way downstairs to the kitchen, to find my best friend Callie making coffee. As she turned around and saw me she squealed in excitement rushing over to give me a hug.

"Babe, I am so excited! you look amazing! Oh my god we're going to America!" Her words came out rushed as her eyes gleamed with excitement. Callie and I had met on the first day of high school and had since then been inseparable so naturally I had chosen her to accompany me to the States. To be honest there wasn't really a choice in the matter.

"It's almost 5:30 and out plane leaves at 8. Have you got everything packed?" she asked me and I nodded in response smiling with anticipation. We transferred our coffee into travel mugs, hauling our suitcases out the door and into the taxi that was waiting out the front. Within the next hour we had arrived at the airport, checked in our luggage and were waiting at our gate, ready to board.

Finally our flight was called and we boarded. Callie was jumping around with excitement, her eyes gleaming. We found our seats and quickly got comfortable. It was going to be a long flight.

"Good morning ladies and gentleman and welcome aboard flight number 287A bound for Los Angeles California. Callie and I turned to each other, silently screaming at each other. As the plane began to move down the runway, she gripped my hand.

Goodbye Sydney, Australia! Hello Los Angeles, California!
We were off to live out our dream!

Notes

So this is my first attempt at a story. I know the first chapter doesn't involve Pierce the Veil but I had to kind of set the scene so you knew the background of the story.

I promise it will pick up very soon!
