Why Do You Torture Me So?

Tony grabbed my hand softly as we left the house with my possesions and cash before making our way back to the bus. I was tired and sore from my father but Tony helped me down the street and with my backpack so I didn't fall over on him just yet. Not until he got me back to the bus.

"Come on..." He whispered encouragingly as he basically carried me down the street to the bus. We didn't even make it halfway down the railroad tracks before I slipped from his grip and fell to the ground. I was growing more tired by the second and Tony musta known it because he began to scream for help.

"Vic! Jaime! Mike! Help me!!!" He yelled frantically as he leaned down and picked me up. I was beginning to see black spots in my vision, like little black holes in the universe. "Come on Alice. Stay awake dude. Come on, stay awake!"

"Im sorry Tony." I whispered as he stopped running to fix the backpack he held. My eyes fluttered shut as he started crying and began to run again.

"NO DON'T! Fall asleep Alice! Don't go!" He cried as I blacked

When I watched Alice bolt off the bus once Vic told her the time, I instantly knew something was wrong. When she lived in San Diego, We all knew that Alice's father got drunk more frequently than not and always yelled at her if she was late, even coming home from a school club or class itself. She's sometimes even go over to Vic and Mike's house several times bawling her eyes out because of her father. So when she asked about the time I knew something was wrong.

Even as I followed her down the street and across the railroad tracks, danger screamed loud in clear. Shit, I'll call the guys if anything gets outta hand. I watched as Alice walked up the steps and disappear into a small double house when I ran past the old water building to my right.

Damn it. She could be hurt! Her father could be killing her for all I know! Fuck. I sprinted the rest of the street with my mind on 1 thing. Making sure Alice's safe. Once I leaped onto the porch, I heard a man's voice from inside yelling at someone. It must be Alice! I opened the screen door and tried opening the wooden one only to find it was locked.

"Fuck" I swore looking around for a place for an extra key. Tony think damn it. Remember what Alice said. When she would invite us over, Vic Mike Jaime and I over she always hid the Key either in the flower pot or under the mat! Ues the Mat! I bent down and picked the matt up only to swipe the key and push it into the lock.

The key gave me a bit of trouble turning it but once I giggled it enough it turned and I stepped back and pressed the doorbell letting her know that someone was there. When Alice opened the door I was overjoyed that she was okay, but from the expression on her face said I must have looked freaked out was was about to burst into tears.

"Alice,.are you okay?" I asked watching her nodd. Damn girl, your fucking beat up and a bit bloody yet you say you're okay? Stop trying to maintain you cover dude. "Now why don't I believe you dude?" I asked softly looking at her pained expression. She shrugged lightly.

"I heard the yelling." I whispered out and she took my hand and pulled me in for a hug. I was heartbroken. Alice.was always good. She was amazing and strong but right now she looked fragile.

"I'm sorry Tony. I don't have anywhere to go. Can I please stay with you and the guys just for a little bit?" I nodded as soon as the words left her lips.

"Of course. Lets get some close for you quick and we'll go back to the bus." I answered and began walking up the steps into her bedroom.and stood there while she threw clothes into the bag not even looking at what she was throwing in. I noticed her movements were becoming sluggish and slow as she picked up a bear that she had since forever, gave it a hug and placed it in her bag lightly then put on another pair of vans.

"Lets go." She said and we left the house after grabbing her medication. I was puzzled as she put it in her bag but asked no questions as we walked down the street. I took her bag and began to carry her when she started staggering.

"Come on." I said urging her on. She refused to be carried like a normal person so I had her one arm around my shoulders and her feet on the ground helping her walk like a shoulder would carry his team mate.

"You can do it." I said again once we crossed the railroad tracks and began walking down the street. I could tell she wasn't doing well from the not talking to the dragging of her feet. She could barely walk at all and I was practically carrying her.

We weren't even halfway down the street only 20 years from the bus when she slipped and fell down onto the cold concrete. I bent down and picked her up bridal style.

"Vic! Jaime! Mike! Help me!" I yelled frantically looking down at her bruised face as I ran down the street with her. "Come on Alice, stay awake dude. Come on." I said still running only to stop to readjust the back pack and then I ran again. Tears ran down my cheeks as I ran.

"No dont fall asleep Alice! Don't go!" I cried as Jaime ran up to me and took Alice's unconscious body from me and sprinted to the bus. I cried as he took her onto the bus and Vic came up to me.

"Tone everythings gonna be okay. I promise. Now come on and lets get her fixed up." He said leading me onto the bus and into the bathroom where Jaime kneeled wiping her face. I almost broke down again seeing how she leaned against the toilet with her eyes closed.

"Hey Tone. Can you pass me the peroxide?" Jaime said holding a cotton ball in his hand and I passes him the brown bottle as Vic rubbed my back.

"Thanks. Can you tell us what happened?" Vic asked me and I nodded. I took a deep breathe before sighing.

"I should get Mike up first so he knows too." I said and Vic bolted out of the room. Next thing I know Mike.comes in shirtless and panting like a maniac.

"Fuck what happened to her?" He asked and Vic looked at me.

"Tony was about to explain." He said and nodded in my direction. Jaime and Vic took care of Alice as I.told them what happened.

"You guys remember Alice's dad Jeff right?" I asked and Mike spoke.

"How could we forget? Alive would come over crying because of him."

"Well from what I could tell he was drunk and Alice was late coming home because of us. He got pissed off and begin to scream at her and beat her. Alice.locked the door so I couldn't get into the house to stop him but when she opened the door she said she had no where to go and Asked if she could stay here. I said yes and she packed up and we started walking back to the bus when she got weak and collapsed." I began to wail again and Vic hugged me tight.

"Its okay man. Everythings gonna be okay." He said and I hugged him back.

Mike sighed as Jaime pulled down her pants after seeing blood and began to freak out. I looked at the cuts that had reopened.and were bleeding and he pushed up her sleeves to reveal more cuts that were bleeding.

"Damn Alice! You're never good to yourself but now we know why." Jaime said with a sigh and cleaned up the cuts then properly bandaged them.

"Guys we shouldn't let her know we saw them until later. Let her sleep. She needs it." Vic replied and I noticed how silent Mike was. I could see tears in his eyes and his bottom lip quiver.

"Agreed." Vic said.

"Yeah." Jaime replied as.Mike picked her up and took her out of the bathroom and I followed behind him.

"Guys we'll be out in a minute." I said softly and Vic put an arm around Jaime's waist and walked into the front room and turned on the tv. I shut the bunk door and turned to face Mike.

"You knew about the cuts on her legs and arms didnt you?" I asked and he nodded turning to face me.

"Yeah when you guys left she was in the bathroom cutting. I stopped her and brought her to my bunk and we fell asleep. I thought they weren't gonna bleed. Now I feel like an ass." He said and I hugged him tightly.

"Don't feel like an ass. You were trying to help her. Come in lets join them in the front and leave Alice to sleep." I said hugging him for a brief second then leading him to the front where Vic had put on Star Wars and everyone just shut up and watched for once in our lives.
