A Love Like War

Chapter Two

Chapter Two

Kellin's POV:

Beep beep beep! Holy shit. 7 a.m. already? I felt like I'd only slept an hour. Probably because I did. I had too much on my mind. Or.. too much of one person on my mind. Vic. All I could think about was seeing him at school. I'd completely forgotten to get his number, so I had to hope he was where he said he'd be. I had to look good today, so I hopped in the shower. My uncle had already left for work. Score. I blasted Panic! At The Disco's new song Nicotine and hummed along as I got undressed and showered. I even shaved. Damn, I really did want to look good.

I checked myself out in the mirror one last time. Gray V-neck, black skinny jeans, vans. I look pretty good, if I do say so myself. I picked up my bookbag and schedule my uncle left on my dresser.
Spanish first period, English second, Pre-Calculus third, and Music Theory last. Should be easy. I shrugged and got into my car. Time to see Vic. Just the thought of having five days a week guaranteed with him made me smile.

Vic's POV:

Where is he?! The whole morning I'd been waiting. I could hardly concentrate on Tony's conversation about aliens, too busy studying the parking lot looking for him. It'd been about 45 minutes. The bell would ring in ten minutes. Maybe he wasn't coming. Tony broke my train of thought.
"Vic?! Hellllo? Dude we're going to class. Can't be late." He laughed and walked away with the rest of the guys. Come on Kellin.
"Hey, sorry I'm late." I jumped. He was here. Wow he looked good. I could feel the smile on my face, I tried to contain my excitement.
"Hey, you're fine. I was just about to go to class. What do you have first?" He looked nervous, maybe even stressed out. I knew that feeling. Going to a new school was a pain in the ass. He grabbed a crumpled schedule from his pocket.
"Uhm..Spanish. You?" Same first period? Score.
"I have Spanish too. Don't worry, it's an easy A." I winked. Was I being too flirty? Fuck it. He laughed.
"Of course it is for you, Mexican!" He had a point.
"So, shall we?" I collected my things and he nodded.

Lunch time. Finally. I found Kellin in line and tapped him on his right shoulder. I moved to his left and watched him turn to his right, classic.
"Oh, you fucker!" He laughed and hit me playfully. His smile was so beautiful. It's a shame he never showed it in any of the three classes we had. He was too focused with work, while I was preoccupied with him. Although, I was almost positive he dropped his pencil twice in English to look at me. Maybe I'm just being cocky.
"So, how do you like it here?" Kellin paid for his food and we got seated with the rest of the guys.
"Well, I haven't gotten killed yet. The teachers are pretty cool, and Spanish is easy. " I nodded, hanging on to his every word. His voice was so lovely. I could listen to it for hours.
"If it gets complicated, Vic would be happy to give you some private lessons in his bedroom." Mike interjected. Damnit Mike. He always knew when I liked someone. Always.
Kellin blushed and ignored the comment. "So do you guys sit here everyday?"
"Pretty much." Jaime said with his mouth full of pizza.
I nodded. We'd sat here everyday since freshman year when we made a pact to always be friends. I was glad that remained true. They'd stuck with me even after I came out. They were all I had, besides family. But now I had Kellin. He was a friend now too, right?
The bell rang. Time for fourth block.
"Well guys, I gotta get going. Music Theory's all the way on the other campus from what I've heard." Kellin threw away his trash and all of us got up and smiled.
"We have the same class. We get stuck in it every year." Jaime laughed. "Let's go."
Wow. Four classes with Kellin. 8 hours a day, 5 days a week. This was perfect.
I followed behind while Kellin and Mike discussed his tattoos. Mike being only 15, it was illegal for him to go into a tattoo shop. Lucky for him our uncle was a professional tattoo artist. Despite our parent's protest, he would save lunch money and get them done. They eventually got over it though, seeing as he would do it anyways.

I smiled to myself. Mike was the best little brother I could ask for. He could be a pain sometimes, but he was my best friend.

I took a seat behind Tony who seemed to already be scribbling something in his notebook. Nerd. Mrs. Matthews seemed extremely cheery this morning. She looked towards Kellin. Oh no. The Introduction. Every fucking year when she noticed a new face, she'd make them stand in the front of the room and sing five facts about their self. This year he was the only new kid.
"And who's this?" She exclaimed, a little bit too happy.
"I'm uhm. Kellin. Kellin Quinn." Poor thing. He looked petrified.
"To the front, sing five facts about yourself, your name, age, where you're from, and two things of your choice." She grabbed his arm pulling him to the front. He was shaking. I could see Jaime and Tony laughing to each other. I rolled my eyes and watched him.
"Uh-Uhm. Okay." He took one deep breath and began singing.
"My name's Kellin Quinn, I'm seventeen, from Michigan, I'd never do this again, oh and I'm about to pick up Vic's dropped pen." I laughed. His voice was really good, and I watched him walk back to his seat, he tossed me my pen. Oops. The teacher raised an eyebrow, then returned back to her fake, over exaggerated smile.
"Very good! Now fill out this information sheet." I watched him walk back to his seat, admiring his figure. He was so slim, but fit at the same time. Fuck, what just hit me?! Oh. My pen. Kellin had tossed it back while I'd been sizing him up. I mouthed thank you and watched him scribble on his paper. I saw him start to fill out the 'Personal Cell Number' portion. No, I couldn't. But I could. I'd never have enough balls to ask for it myself. I squinted my eyes to make out the numbers. I hurriedly wrote them in my own notebook and slammed it shut. The bell rang shortly afterwards.
"C'mon man, Tony and Jaime have to go to work." Mike stood at the door with Tony and Jaime, who were already walking out. I looked around. Where had Kellin gone? The room was empty except for the guys and I. I nodded.
"Right, I'm ready." Once we got inside the car, I decided to pull out the number. What's the worst that could happen. I opened my messages on my phone and began to type.

To Kellin: Hey, it's Vic. Hope you liked your first day, and the teachers didn't scare you too much. Didn't see you after class, wanted to make you everything was alright. See you tomorrow! :]

Perfect. I leaned my head against the car window. Maybe Kellin just had a bad day.
