A Love Like War

Chapter One

**First story, sorry for any errors!

Kellin's POV:

Finally. The trip to San Diego seemed as if it lasted forever. I didn't even want to be here in the first place. I still couldn't believe I was here. I knew my parents were conservative Christians, but I guess them catching Matty and I kissing was the last straw. I had never really been into church the way they had, I'd attended maybe one or two services my entire life, and I was seventeen now. I tried to push away the memories. Me coming out. Them throwing me out on the streets. I was so lucky my uncle was kind enough to agree to taking me in.

I sighed and got off the bus. Where the fuck was my uncle? Just as I pulled out my phone to call him, he was standing in front of me with that cheesy ass smile. Yep. Definitely him.

"Kell!" He pulled me in for a hug. I hadn't had one of these in a while. It felt nice.

"Uncle Zack." That was his name, right?

It must've been. He grabbed my luggage and tossed it in the back of his truck. I climbed into the passenger seat. The car was silent for a few miles, until we reached what looked like a beach.

"I live right over there." He pointed to a large blue house, overlooking the water. It was beautiful. "Get yourself familiar with the people and the area. I'll take care of your bags. Don't stay out too late, you start school tomorrow morning at Clairemont. See ya!"

I stepped out the car and onto the sand. My god this is paradise. It was beautiful here. The people, the water, and not to mention how much warmer it was here than in Michigan. I didn't waste any time ripping off my shirt and throwing off my TOMS, laying out to get some sun. There was much opportunity to do this up North and I knew I'd be the palest guy in school. I could at least try to get some sun. Just as soon as I'd started to close my eyes I felt a tap on my shoulder. I jumped, surprised and looked up.

"Is there a problem?" I looked up, my eyes meeting a spikey haired Hispanic boy. He looked around my age.
"Uhm, well you're actually in my backyard." He chuckled and pointed to the house behind me. Fuck.
"I'm so sorry! My uncle just dumped me off and I'm new to the area." I got up grabbing my shirt and shoes.
"Dude, it's fine I promise. Did you say you're new? Where are you from?" He was really polite.
"Michigan, and trust me it took forever to get here."
"Well it's nice to meet you, I'm Jaime. It's spelled similar to Jamie, but I assure you it's not." He rolled his eyes and laughed.
"If I may ask, why'd you come all the way to San Diego?"
"Looooooong story." Not really. But I couldn't just tell this complete stranger my sexual preference right off the bat. He nodded in response.
"Well, would you like to come inside and meet my friends? We could show you around if you'd like."
"Sure." I smiled. I had never had many friends back home, this was weird. Perhaps this was a new start.

I followed behind Jaime and saw three guys sitting on the couch, arguing over Xbox. One was heavily tattooed, with two lip rings above and below his lip. Beside him, another tan Hispanic, slightly smaller than the tattooed guy, wearing a snapback backwards and a gray crewneck. He looked very plain, but attractive. On the end was a guy also tattooed and wearing a snapback, except his lobes were stretched.

"Eat shit, motherfuckers!" The guy with the piercings shouted.
Jaime cleared his throat, getting their attention. "Guys, meet Kellin. He's new here and we're going to show him around some today. Kellin, meet Mike, Vic, and Tony."

The boy in the middle, Vic, was staring at me. I felt my face go hot and looked away from his caramel brown eyes.

"Sup." Mike nodded. I smiled, not sure how to respond. I didn't have to, because Jaime's phone started buzzing loudly. He answered it and walked a few feet away.

"Dude, yeah! Be there in ten." He hung up and returned, while I still stood behind the couch not sure what to do with myself.
"Mike, Tony. Tyler wants us to head to his place to skate for a while, come on!" He must've forgot I was there, because he then turned apologetically towards me.
"Shit, man. Vic!" He looked to him, holy shit was he attractive.
"Jaime!" He said mockingly.
"We're going to skate. I know that's not your thing. Could you show Kellin around? Take him around town, show him the school that kind of shit. I'll drop Mike at your place around 9."
Damnit. He was already taken. Vic nodded and the boys left. He got up and smiled at me.

"Ready?" I nodded. His voice was beautiful.

We walked a few blocks and talked about random things, I couldn't believe how comfortable I was. He was just so chill. We then reached a building with the words "Clairemont High School" across it. Fuck. My school.

"Here we are, the lovely Clairemont High School." He sounded sarcastic.
"You sound like you've been here before." I looked to him, joining him on the bench. The wind picked up making his hair fall in his face. It was kinda cute.
"Been here? I haven't just been here. I go here." He chuckled and looked to the ground, then pushing fly-aways back into his snapback.
"Ooooh! So what's so bad about it? I'm sure you have girls crawling all over you." Wow. Did I just say that? I started blushing again, but this time so did he.
"Girls, aren't really my..thing." He gave a small wink and laughed.
"So you're, you know?" Please say yes.
"If by 'you know', you mean gay, then yes. Ever since I've came out though things haven't been the same. My family was supportive, my friends..not so much." He looked down, as if he were upset. I just wanted to hug him. I patted his back.
"I'm gay, too." He jerked his head up surprised, then back to his normal, relaxed self.
"That's cool, bro. We should probably start walking around the school so I can show you around."

He smiled and I followed him inside. This place seemed pretty easy to navigate. Although it was hard focusing with Vic. I couldn't stop looking at him. Everything about him looked perfect. His eyes matched perfectly with his other features. Just the right amount of hair spilled from his snapback, and those jeans.. Vic then snapped me out of my trance.
"And..that concludes our tour!" He sounded like one of those lame tour guides at museums. I couldn't help but laugh.
"I should probably get home, Mike's waiting for me. My friends and I are in the cafeteria in the mornings if you want to meet up."
"Sure! That'd be cool. Have fun with your boyfriend." He started laughing hysterically as he started walking off.
"Kell, Mike's my brother." Oh. He called me Kell, I liked that.
I pulled out my phone once Vic was out of sight. 10 p.m. already? Shit. I started running. I had to get home.

Vic's POV:
Wow. Tonight was great. I walked in the house smiling, Mike noticed.
"Soooooooooooo.... how was it?" He winked.
"It was fine." I was blushing. Damnit.
"Right. Well mom and dad are asleep, we probably should be too. You need your beauty sleep for Kellin."
"Shut up." I shoved him playfully. "Goodnight."

I walked into my room and undressed, wearing boxers and laid down. I couldn't sleep. Everytime I closed my eyes, I thought of him. All I could do was think about his beautiful blue eyes, and that hair. So perfect. No. No one as perfect as him could like someone like me. I sighed. Hopefully I'd see him tomorrow. I soon drifted off to sleep.
