Perfection Through Silence

Become The Dream

Danny stepped up to the microphone stand as Lily stepped back, moving to give him room to speak the first lines of the which they were covering in honour of the time and date; 23/11/13, 6:05pm.

This is what we have seen, Doctor
The darkness heralds only one thing
The End of Time itself.

The heat in the theatre was intense as bodies writhed against one another, the crowd moving as one as they surged forward and to either side while jumping in time with the beat of the double bass. Everyone was there to have a good time and so far, they were having on hell of a good time. No one would’ve expected a fandom song to be a part of a set list but Lost In The Silence wasn’t your ordinary band. Taylah stood on the large left hand side speaker as she screamed into her microphone. Front fringe lay plastered to her forehead while her black jeans looked painted on and white tee shirt stuck to her like a second skin, “The Doctor will see you now” and TARDIS that were emblazoned in blue on the front almost invisible due to the sweat from the crowd when she’d stage dived.

I've ended lives, I've ended worlds
I guess I've done it all
Fire, and ice, and rage inside
How long 'til I fall?

Somewhere all my darkest dreams are gathering
It's not enough to save the day
I can't escape my nightmares

Mike grinned as he stood next to her speaker, snapping pictures of the band’s set while she was otherwise occupied. It was the second last show of tour much to everyone’s surprise. They couldn’t believe that 3 months had gone by so quickly, that their time together was almost at an end; all that was left was their show in San Diego and that was it; everything is over. Ignoring the feelings of nostalgia, Mike turned to snap a picture of Taylah as she straightened up, jumped down from the speaker to work the stage as the instrumental played before she stepped onto the middle riser and threw her head back to belt out the fifth verse, left arm out stretching towards the crowd as most of them sang the words back to her.

As the song ended and Danny sang the last refrain into Lily’s mike, Taylah grinned out at the sea of people, more than glad that she was not alone in what she did and what she believed. These kids were here to see, admittedly, the other bands, but some were here for them and even the ones who weren’t were singing along to a Doctor Who song which was written by a bunch of YouTube bloggers.

“Wow,” Danny breathed into the mike. “I honestly didn’t think that many of you would know that song. I thought it’d be like the Crossfaith concert we went to all over again.” Just as he said that, a red hat flew through the air, hitting Taylah in the chest. Looking down her eyes widen and a massive grin blossomed across her face as she bent down to pick up the hat.

“Someone threw a fez. Someone threw a fez at a concert. Someone came to a concert with a fez and threw it.” Taylah starred at the red hat in wonder before looking up at the crowd. “Whoever you are, you have excellent taste in head gear. This is great, totally beats that lacy bra Andy's wearing,” still smiling, she reached up to brush her fringe to the side and prepared to sit the fez on her head. “What do you guys think? With the fringe or without?” There was a bunch of shouts before the ginger nodded. “I agree, with the fringe.”

Danny rolled his eyes at his sister’s antics, watching as she stepped back to get a bottle of water before shaking his head. “This has been a great night for us, thank you so much. We have one more song for you guys and then we’re done.”

Taylah walked to the front of the stage and raised her mike up, taking a quick pull of her water before clearing her throat. “We are Lost In The Silence,” she turned to stick her tongue out at Lily because she said it before her for once before turning back. “And before we go, I just want to tell you: you were fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. And you know what? So were we.”

With that end note, they launched into their last song, Dream Awake and gave the audience their all, Taylah and Lily alternating between singing and screaming while Mike got pictures of them jumping around, the ridiculous fez managing to stay in place despite the ginger’s erratic movement.

“THANK YOU!” Lily cried and just like all their other shows, they all stood together and bowed. “I hope you guys are all ready for some PTV!” Lily said her final thank before walking off stage while Jacob threw his drum sticks and the guys threw their picks.

“Why do they do this to me?” Taylah muttered as she whipped under her eyes as the end titles to the 50th Anniversary came on. The entire movie length episode was just an entire shit storm of feels and it wasn’t a good feeling. Sniffling was all that you could hear in the air as Danny and Horizon also whipped their eyes.

“He said it, T, he said the thing. Why did they make him do it? I don’t want to go. Who does that?” Horizon cried out before breathing heavily. “I think I need some air. Doctor Who has saddened me.” Taylah agreed as Danny rested his head on her shoulder, eyes still transfixed on the television screen on the bus while Lily rolled her eyes.

“You guys are lame,” standing, Lily walked over and grabbed the remote to change from the recorded shows section to normal TV.

“Hush you heartless heathen. Ten didn’t even get to see Rose,” Danny hissed at the front woman. “Although, it does explain why Ninth was so surprised to see Rose and hear Bad Wolf.”

Taylah groaned. “Why must Moffat do this to us?” Pushing herself off the couch where she’d been sandwiched, she walked to the fridge and grabbed a beer before moving to the door.

“Rizzo, I’m going out, wanna get some air?”

“Oh, god yes,” Horizon leapt off the couch and across the bus before Taylah could even make it down the stairs. Sighing thickly Horizon walked beside Taylah as they shared the beer, both still revealing in the feels and conversing in high pitched squeaks and breathy sighs that actually formed sentences.

Also known as the national Fangirl language.

“I’m almost scared to watch the Christmas special now,” Taylah said as they looped around the buses for a second time, finally able to speak without squealing or squeaking mid word.

“Argh yes, if this is how I feel when now then I’d hate to see me when Matt leaves,” Horizon agreed before sighing. “Well this was certainly an interesting birthday eve for you wasn’t it?” Horizon turned to look at her friend who was looking forward with distant eyes; pale skin washed blue due to the cloudless night and large moon.

Taylah looked down at her watch before smiling. “One oh eight. It’s officially my birthday day.” She turned to Horizon as she held out her hand for the almost empty beer. “It’s definitely been different. Better than last year though, that was mentally scarring.” Taylah cringed at the memories as Horizon slipped the bottle into her hand.

“So, twenty-three, how does that feel? Any different to how you felt fifteen minutes ago?” Horizon shot her an amused look as her companion chuckled.

“I can tell you safely that I feel no different. The only thing that’s different is the fact that I have the DW theme stuck in my head.” Horizon snorted before she began making the bottom beat of the theme, Taylah coming in seconds later with high pitched ‘oohs’ in time with the actual theme.

They’d been doing this since they were in high school, mucking around, fangirling over British television and just leaning on each other. It was a great feeling, knowing you have someone who can understand exactly how you feel simply by looking at you and knowing that they weren’t related or in a relationship with. She only had that with Horizon and Lily and it was a good feeling.

“So how would you like to celebrate your day of birth, oh Ginger one?” Horizon watched her
friend as they moved to sit in the ridiculously small gap between their bus and Bring Me’s. It brought back memories of when they’d sit in between the different blocks at school and just talk as they at lunch and it was surprising how much simpler those times were.

Taylah frowned slightly as she thought about the question before shaking her head. “I couldn’t give two shits how I spend it as long as I’m with friends and having a good time. Actually, Alan said he wanted to take me to a strip club so that might happen…” she shook her head before shrugging. “Don’t know, don’t care.”

“An interesting outlook, I like it. We should just have a movie sesh and get blindingly drunk.”

“Oh!” Taylah’s eyes widened as she suddenly remembered something. She turned to Horizon with an excited expression. “I have a great drinking game! Me and Lily thought of it when we went to go see the re-release of Star Wars a couple years ago.”

“That the time you fell when walking up the stairs to your seat?”

Taylah glared at her and growled out “No that was when we went to see The Campaign.” Choosing to ignore Horizon’s laughter, Taylah pressed on. “Every time Obi Wan Kenobi’s padawan changes side, you do a shot.”

Horizon frown in confusion. “But you’d be plastered half way through; it changes that often.”

“That’s the point," Taylah said as she rolled her eyes at Horizon's cluelessness.

"OH! Right, got it," Horizon said as she nodded before smiling happily. “Tony’s gonna love this game.”

“Most likely.” Taylah agreed as she finished the rest of the beer.

Notes

So I sped things up, a lot. And I'm not even sorry. It's a filler BTW.

Did anyone catch the Ninth Doctor quote?

I really wanted to show Taylah and Horizon as fangirls (in case you didn't catch that from the Star Trek moment) and I wanted to show how they would react to the 50th Anniversary. And let me tell you, they reacted the same way me and my friend Bella reacted.

So now you know when the story's based and how far along the tour is, yay. I'm almost finished I think, but I'm contemplating writing a sequel...

Nightmares is by Chameleon Circuit and Dream Awake is by Northlane because I like them and they're from Australia which is an added plus. Gotta love the home grown.
