Drella

You'll Be Excited To See Me Someday

I woke up and breathed in. I knew I was home. I could just smell it. It smelt of New York. I love it so much here. It's only nine but I just want to get dressed and go to the skate park and then go shopping in that underground place that isn't supposed to be open because if there was a fire we'd all be screwed. Then I wanted to go to some clubs and just do stuff I'm not supposed to.
I got out of bed and went to the bathroom. I had a quick shower and then went back to my room to get changed. After I went to peer in the room Vic had and saw him ready and working on his lyrics. I sat down next to him and peered over his shoulder. "They're good," I commented.
"Shame no one will hear," he smirked.
"Victor," I warned. "They will when you form a killer band and are playing all over the world,"
"Ella, your head must be an exciting place," he laughed.
"I'm serious. I completely believe one day you will be playing sold out shows all over the world,"
"Why?"
"Because you have it in you," I said easily.
"I've been thinking a lot about college,"
"And?" I urged.
"I'm applying for San Diego to do graphic design," he explained.
"I'm applying there too. Just in case I don't get into the art school here,"
"What do you want to do after?"
"I don't know," I shrugged. "I could work on my art. Maybe look into photography. It's like art but I just take a photo after. Our teacher said I was good at it when we got set that assignment,"
"You would be good at it," Vic nodded.
"You'd be a great musician,"
"I don't know," he sighed.
"You do know and the answer is yes," I said, making him laugh. "Now come on. We're going to the skate park,"
"We are?"
"Getting some New York culture in you, Cali boy," I teased. Vic rolled his eyes and followed me. We went downstairs and I saw my Dad. "We're going out. I'm showing Vic around," I told him.
"Okay, Drella," he smiled. "Just free up your last day. We're having dinner, just you and I," he explained.
"Great," I smiled. I went to kiss his cheek then pulled Vic outside.
"You seem to like your dad more than your mom," Vic stated.
"Can't think why," I laughed dryly.
I led him across town until we reached the skate park. I climbed up on a bench and sat on the back of it. "Now this weekend I'm showing you everything cool about New York," I told him.
And I have. We're on last day and I've shown him everything. I even took Vic to my old school and showed him the burnt remains of my expulsion. I just think this is his chance to get to know me. Really know me, like I know him.
So I decided to take him to the best coffee shop in town and talk it out. Not all of his stuff, but mine. He doesn't need to know about all the sad times I spent my nights up trees because I'd had an argument with my parents. He already knew that. But I need to tell him about my friends from here, my boyfriends and what I used to be like when I lived here.
We were sat at the shop and I sipped on my frappe. "What's up?" Vic frowned.
"I need to talk to you,"
"Don't we need to be dating for you to break up with me?" he chuckled.
"Forget musician, we have a comedian right here," I mocked. "Serious, Vic,"
"Okay, I won't mock you,"
"Alright, you think I know everything about you?" I asked. He sat there and his eyebrows knitted together as he thought.
"Do you know about that time I broke Mike's Christmas present?"
"Yeah, you cut the wire,"
"Then you know everything," he agreed.
"What do you know about me?"
"I know everything since you moved to SD," he said and I nodded. "I also know how hard you had it with your parents and what grades you got in school,"
"I've never told you about me at school though," I sighed. "Okay, everything was fine until the year before I moved. I had this serious argument with my friends. It was really bad. One of my friends followed my home and just wouldn't stop yelling at me. She said how it was my fault they were all failing classes and how I was holding them back. I just turned around and punched her. I couldn't help it. She got me back before I started beating her bad,"
"Really?" Vic asked disbelievingly.
"Then I left her. But some kids were watching. They went to my school and had a bit of a rep. But they drove me to hospital because my nose was broken. They helped me and I just sort of started hanging with them. They seemed to get me more," I explained. Vic was nodding, so he wouldn't interrupt me. "Now I guess they got me into bad stuff. I didn't see it then though. I was staying out every night. I would go drinking and they got me to start smoking. If anyone had any weed I'd do that too. It was fun though and I thought I was with good people. I started to get in trouble with the police. Didn't actually get charged, but they knew me. That's when Mom and Dad started arguing. I knew it was because of me. I'm basically the one who split them up," I muttered. Vic took my hand at this but didn't say anything. "That took me right up to the building fire. I was always in trouble at school though. I just didn't want to be there learning. I hated it. I was always getting caught smoking and I was so rude to teachers. But I was popular though, so it was okay," I sighed. "I had three boyfriends that year. The first was called Tom. He was a nice guy, but couldn't get through a day without a handful of pills. We went out for two months. Then the next guy only last a month. He was called Phil and got arrested for shoplifting. He was forced to move state. Then my last guy was Oliver. He was the one I lost my virginity to. Basically he was an ass. He'd treat me like I was shit, but I really loved him and he'd always make it up to me. We were just so like each other. And we dated for nearly seven months. But a week before I was expelled my cousin came to visit from New Jersey. She got drunk at this party we went to and Oliver slept with her,"
"He cheated on you," Vic stated.
"I'm not even bothered. I was never mad at my cousin. That's how she gets when she's drunk. She flirts. But Oliver acted on it and took advantage of her, knowing she was my cousin. That's what hurt,"
"I'm really sorry, Ella,"
"It's okay," I sighed and squeezed his hand. "That's why I like Jaime so much, he's the opposite to Oliver. He makes me so happy," I explained. "What I felt then is something I never want to feel again, believe me,"
"Want a hug?" Vic offered.
"Yeah," I nodded. We stood up and Vic hugged me across the booth. "Now," I sighed. "Buy me another frappe. I'm going to the bathroom,"
"On it," he smiled. I walked over to the bathroom and went inside. When I washing my hands someone walked inside. I laughed and looked at her to make sure.
"Hannah?" I asked.
"Yeah. Oh gosh, hi Drella," she beamed. She tucked some highlighted hair behind her ear and grinned at me.
"What are you doing here?"
"I'm on a short vacation with my parents. We go back tomorrow,"
"That's so weird. I'm here visiting my dad. I dragged Vic with me,"
"Vic from school?" she suddenly asked.
"Yeah," I nodded.
"He's really sweet," Hannah said easily. Oh wow, does she like him?
"He is. And I think he looks so much better since he got his nose pierced,"
"He does," she agreed. "Are you and Vic. . .?"
"No, no, no," I laughed. "I'm dating Jaime from school,"
"Oh yeah. I was just checking,"
"Why? Do you like Vic?" I asked and she blushed. Wow.
"I don't know," she rushed.
"Why don't you ask him out?" Because God knows Vic won't do it.
"He'd never like me,"
"You know I could talk to him. Maybe get him to take you to dinner tonight,"
"Really?" she beamed.
"Yeah, but maybe you should suggest dinner. You know what guys are like,"
"Okay," she nodded enthusiastically.
"Go sit back out there and I'll make him ask for your number," I explained.
"Thank you Drella. You're so sweet," she told me.
"No problem," I shrugged. I just want Vic to be happy. I walked back out and sat down. Hannah wasn't far from us. "Hey Vic?" I asked.
"Hmm?"
"Isn't that your crush Hannah with the highlights?" I asked quietly.
"Oh God, it is," he muttered. "She looks so pretty,"
"I've got an idea. Why don't you go ask for her number," I urged.
"No, she'd never like me," Oh for Christ's sake.
"Victor Vincent Fuentes. You are in my city, drinking my coffee, sleeping in one of my beds and you are wearing my dad's aftershave. Now get your ass over there, now," I said firmly. Vic stood reluctantly up and I pushed him forward. He went up to Hannah and I saw them talking. She was writing down something for him and then stood up and kissed his cheek before going. Vic turned around grinning goofily. "What happened?" I asked innocently.
"She gave me her number and we're going out tonight for dinner. She said I look cute," he explained.
"That's great!" I grinned.
"Yeah," he smirked for a minute before he ruffled his hair.
