I'll Fight For You
Eleven
Now the only people that didn't know about me in our group were Mike and Tony. I didn't know how they would react. But it was only a matter of time until they found out with the way Vic had been acting around me. If we were together he wouldn't let me out of his sight. I know he's terrified. But so am I. I need to figure things out.
I walked through into the cafeteria. I started walking over and heard Vic mumbling to himself. "Where is she?" he asked the others.
"For the millionth time. I don't fucking know." Mike sighed.
"Is she okay?"
"She'll be fine." Tony reassured.
"Will she?" he asked Jess.
"I'm sure she will." Jess replied gently.
"She's a big girl, she can look after herself." Mike said dryly.
"No she can't," he countered. I walked up behind him and kissed his cheek. He looked up and smiled at me brightly. I sat down and rested my forehead on his shoulder. "You okay?"
"I didn't get much sleep." I explained.
"Because of what you picked up at Rich's?"
"Yeah," I nodded. "And Lauren kept trying to come through." I whispered.
"We need to try and figure out everything."
"I know." I muttered. Vic turned to me and lifted my chin up to kiss my lips.
"Do you want to go into research mode tonight?"
"I have a better idea," I said. "We should go to church."
"To church." Tony furrowed his eyebrows.
"They need to sacrifice goats." Mike mocked.
"Who's in?" Vic asked, looking at Jess and Jaime.
"I unfortunately can't, if I enter a church I burst into flames." Mike said easily.
"Not funny." Vic said.
"I'm in." Jess nodded.
"You can stay at my house." Jaime quickly told her.
"Smooth." I rolled my eyes, making him glare at me.
"Well, us normal people will be hanging at my house playing video games." Mike said, wrapping his arm around Tony's shoulders.
"When Mike is classed as normal something is seriously wrong." Tony teased.
"Come to my house before?" I asked Vic hopefully.
"I'm there." he said easily.
"Whipped." Mike mouthed across the table. Vic took my hand under the table and squeezed.
I sat across from Vic in my room. Vic was on my computer while I was scanning through a book I'd made him pick up from the library for me on deaths from 1850-1900 in America. It was basic. Only the recorded information, but it was a start.
I'd been looking for over an hour. I finally snapped the book shut and sighed. I lay back on my bed and closed my eyes. I heard Vic stand up and sit down by me, placing my head in his lap gently.
"Nothing?" he asked.
"Nope," I shook my head. "She was definitely killed in 1890. So why isn't she in here? You didn't find anything on the American Archives about her?"
"No," he shook his head. "Shall I read her file out? Maybe we're missing something." Vic reasoned.
"Okay." I nodded.
"Hannah Charlotte. Age: 17. Gender: Female. Hair color: Blonde. Eye color: Light blue. Frame: Small. Location: Outside."
"What does outside mean?" I exclaimed. "She didn't have a home?"
"Maybe. You could be right." Vic reasoned.
"Does it say anything about family?"
"Yeah," Vic nodded. "Mother and Step-Father both unaware. Step-Brother is aware but guilty of suicide shortly after the incident." I sat up at this and looked Vic in the eye.
"What if it's true?" I rushed. "What if everything is repeating itself?"
"No." Vic shook his head.
"My parents don't know. Jaime does. What if I die and Jaime kills himself? I can't let that happen."
"It won't happen. No one is dying," Vic said firmly. "This Hannah must have lost her person. You're not about to lose me."
"What does it say?" I asked weakly. "About her person?"
"It's the next thing in the file. Robin Bowe. He is aware and willing. Did stay by The Haunted's side for the two years the campaign has be raged (1888-1890). Is forced away for military duties, resulting in The Haunted's vicious death." Vic read.
"What does it say about her death?"
"If this really was you do you want to know?"
"I have to." I shrugged.
"Okay," Vic breathed. "The Haunted was first possessed by the demon, then forced to a family tomb. The belief of her Step-Brother is that The Haunted had all ability taken from them as they lay on a heavy stone coffin. Slashes appeared on her form as she screamed out from the pain and mental torture the demons were inflicting. She spoke of many deaths, including that of Robin Bowe. The result was one of insanity before a knife dropped and The Haunted regained the ability of movement, using it to stab her chest." he finished. I looked at Vic and bit my lip.
"They made her kill herself." I muttered.
"That isn't going to happen to you." he rushed.
"Does it say anything else?"
"That the body was moved by her Step-Brother and attended to by physicians before she was declared dead on April 4th 1990 at 2 am."
"I wish it said where." I sighed.
"I know, me too."
"Vic?" I asked. He tilted his head to the side and took my hand. "If I die can you make sure Jaime is safe?" I asked.
"You're not going to die." he rushed, taking a light grip on each of my shoulders.
"Just . . . in case?"
"I can't," he shook his head, looking down. "If you die I won't be able to do anything. I'll be dead too, even if it's just inside."
"I'm sorry," I said and leaned in to kiss him. "Do you think I'll know if I survive the onslaught?"
"I think so," he nodded. "I guess when they've tried to kill you and you haven't died." he said quietly.
"What do you think happened to Robin?"
"He belonged to Hannah Charlotte. So he felt about her the same way I feel about you. To have her gone . . . If he made it through whatever war he was in and came back to her grave," Vic stopped and shook his head. "I would have prayed for death, honestly. For me to lose you would be unbearable, Han'. It'd be excruciating, agony." Vic muttered. I took his face in my hands and smiled. He smiled back and looked at me, his eyes holding every possible good emotion.
"Han'," a voice said and I looked to my door. Jaime was standing with Jess and I noticed they were holding hands. "We're ready." Jaime said.
"Okay, come on." I urged.
Vic stood up and carried the bag I had packed earlier. Then we walked from my room. My parents were in the sitting room and stopped us as we passed. I sighed as we were forced into the sitting room.
"Where are you going?" Mom asked.
"Just for something to eat." Jaime shrugged.
"Okay, just the four of you?" she asked.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"Is it a double date?" she asked excitedly and Jaime's dad looked at her pointedly.
"It is," Jess rushed. "I am on a date with Jaime and Hannah and Vic are already dating." she filled in.
"You are?" Mom asked brightly.
"Yeah." I nodded.
"You never said. Go on, quickly." she urged. We walked out and I rolled my eyes. I widened my eyes then at Jess and she just shrugged as we got into the car.
Notes
Hey! What did you think? The plot thickens. Where do you think Hannah Charlotte came from? Is she Hannah Preciado's past self? What do you think happened to Robin Bowe? What will happen at the church? When will Mike and Tony find out? :)
